Ford has had a big presence here at the consumer electronic show and I think who.

Leading everyone in this charged with what you guys and innovating -- tell us what you guys are rolling out this year and I start with my Ford mobile because this is some interesting stuff.

Well on my.

-- mobile really is attached to rural electric battery electric vehicles and are hybrids and it really is to address vocal range anxiety.

To help people better utilized their electric vehicles again.

Better electric vehicles have a more limited range and so being.

On top of how much charge you have in the vehicle.

How fast this recharging when it's plugged in and so on when it's gonna be ready also hoping it especially helping you understand when the best kind of charges.

-- some areas some states some locations have variable rates.

Better charge at night lower rates -- -- So much for mobile is an application on your Smartphone that can help you when -- -- from the vehicle understand what's going on when -- ready also plan your route to.

That's interesting so talk a little bit about the social aspect of the range anxiety obviously something you guys have looked -- you probably a focus group to talk to folks and this is a concern right that.

I'm like you know I'm I work.

Twenty miles away and I may get forty miles what happens if I had to go pick up milk on the way home I mean it seems silly that these are the real world things -- you think about right.

Yeah and you know I want to mention that we at Ford look at power trains and in our vehicles and about what we call Paul.

Power train of choice really were looking at different options for customers what's really best sometimes battery electric vehicles are the great solution for folks that have -- more limited.

Commutes limited range and and so on and they don't have.

The issues of traveling on distances and maybe hybrid might be better plug in hybrid for that for situations with -- longer commutes and -- -- Or -- are.

Power of choice with eco boost engines which are extremely efficient but anyway back -- of the comments on -- ranging study and so it's really important and and knowing we're charging stations are.

Knowing where the hyper charging stations -- they can charge a bit faster than than others.

I'll be able planned the route so I got a new -- to go on and I don't know where that charging stations are and I -- station station as the need to yeah.

And then knowing you know we've got a plan for the time it's not like going to gas station filling up at five minutes.

Right I mean this is going to be comparable companies are innovating in his face trying to get these charging stations out you guys are you know leading off course on this trying to get these.

He's going a lot of people a lot of other car companies as well making sure that the infrastructure is there.

The concern is -- might buy an electric car.

-- -- -- -- when he charging stations went live in northeast Pennsylvania say.

You know and and more and more.

The idea or opportunity for reservations -- charging station break this one thing to know or the charging stations but when you arrive in your counting on being able to charge of your car.

And the station the charging stations filled with -- other.

Vehicles.

Then you really and I.

Is that when my -- mobile will enable you to do as well is that one of the things you guys are looking at well you know -- really important.

Rights and we're seeing how leveraging the Internet using applications.

Information on the Internet and so we're looking at opportunities and partners -- And -- those partners can help us make a better experience for customers -- -- electric vehicles.

And so I think that there's a real opportunity in the future and we'll see the opportunity at.

To make reservations charging stations know when it's going to be available make sure that when you get their it's available for you.

I know couple friends who have been on the waiting list for the Ford Focus electric.

So another big announcement here at CES.

Theo -- before focus electric take us through some of the the features on this new car.

Well for food focus electric is our focus vehicle fully capable.

Battery electric vehicle.

Really with lots of features on top of that as well too so it's a it's a great family cars -- we're also talking about the fusion as -- -- Now we have a full range as a mention of cars stuff.

Starting with focus electric.

CMX energy.

This is also a casino casino senator we have some reason video the -- -- energy tell us about them.

Assuming that energy is again for a little bit different lifestyle has little bit different -- -- room difference viciousness and -- but we operate both in.

A full hybrid as well as a plug in hybrid to again trying to meet your specific like lifestyle and your particular -- so it's a great.

Car for someone that maybe needs that range extension and to be able -- -- on the gasoline engine as a battery backup.

And also the Ford Fusion energy tell us about that -- -- now we're really excited about the fusion sedan and where it's very successful.

Launch in and people are loving the car it's a beautiful looking car.

But -- now we have hybrid version of it and again offering that the -- fuel efficiency and a little bit larger sedan against.

You know -- -- different -- -- a little bit different lifestyle than maybe a smaller focus or or smaller -- synergies of again full range is what's really important because everybody's got a little bit different lifestyle.

Jimmy was his communion via Twitter and with a chat room you can toss out yet we have a great question you -- Matt -- actually there who mentions that plug in hybrid -- right.

-- -- -- put an average of pretty hot but the better your battery only range is significantly less than all Electric's maybe twenty miles vs seventy miles very good point.

What -- make this difference worthwhile for somebody.

If plug in vs the use of plug in vs the -- The range being the difference between some of the plug in models vs you know what's what are some of -- trade off.

Oil a plug in offers the opportunity to with a different type of battery -- -- to run off the batteries completely.

And run that the batteries -- -- the system with batteries and then when these -- that -- need to move to -- that -- -- -- -- -- where a full hybrid really is going back and forth between it is so it's a little little bit different use case and and you know depends on on -- specific customer so again if you can contain your distances.

Just -- run off the battery may never have to Billiton.

Yeah that's right with us but you always have the option if you're making one of those longer trips they have the engine there gas engine as it won't.
