Want to get down to a significant meeting will take place this week the Afghan President Hamid Karzai meets with the President Obama the White House.

But this amid pressure in Washington over what to do about the war in Afghanistan.

We're now learning that it's a possibility.

That zero American troops is an option on the table after 2014.

But about that KT McFarland are Fox's national security analyst with me here have anything good morning she was a -- that was made this week.

Is that a possibility.

I think what's happening is -- the administration's trying to signal Karzai before the meeting and they're saying.

Wake up.

You gotta get your act together because we're leaving and we might -- nobody behind so you come together is is it a real possibility idea just how you do it's not just -- negotiating ploy I think part of some negotiating -- but I think the other part -- this administration wants out of Afghanistan remember this is the war.

Of necessity but it hasn't gone very well.

If you've got an incoming secretary of defense -- on the record.

As saying the war in Afghanistan was a mistake badly handled.

You got huge pressures for budget cuts and defense cuts that the administration is going to go along with and probably more to come.

Yeah I think Afghanistan as a place where they want to get out of there wanna get out of quickly they want to get out of without looking bad that they want out.

This could be a twelve month.

Move twelve to eighteen months from now don't have to -- -- -- made.

But what about the sacrifice.

What about the blood and treasure that's -- that country this -- -- -- leave behind.

If you consider the possibility.

-- Qaeda set up shop once they could do it again.

-- they definitely the set up shop again.

I look at Afghanistan is like a three legged stool and he did all three legs to have it work he needed military victory on the battlefield on military gave us those victories but there were two other -- -- that store there was a diplomatic way.

Our civilian leadership needed to go to the pakistanis and say shut that border.

Clean out those safe havens where -- Taliban go refuel and come back to fight again.

And the third -- for external item that still has the Karzai government is a corrupt and incompetent leader has failed to.

Motivate his people and hold his country together questions on that and with regard to Karzai does he want us to leave.

Or does he think his country can survive without us there.

Well the question is this Karzai I think he can -- pocket without us there could you know Karzai I think has an exit strategy plan.

How long is he going to survive.

If his country is torn apart in a multi party civil war will his military remain faithful to him in the light.

Pashtun.

Taliban coming in his military is largely -- made up of different tribes from the northern -- Will they stay -- will they be effective.

I think that the problem everybody foresees and you could see it coming.

Where is that when we leave Afghanistan.

A lot of things are gonna happen our military leaves our ability to protect the civilian population that we are leaving behind including -- on civilian.

Ngo aid workers.

But then the final thing is will they be able to have -- -- that country together and I think that's a huge quite.

So Leon Panetta whose eggs in the administrations had 9000 troops should be left behind.

And -- we'll see whether or not that's the case for your point is well taken.

Put pressure on Karzai to get this police and his army together but if you can't do it in time you're leaving a mess behind purely an acute stress and remember we have thousands -- -- civilian workers their hospital workers schoolteachers.

Who's gonna protect them actually.

Thank you -- we'll watch it -- you McFarland big meeting at the end of this because -- -- Martha what's next.
