Welcome to fox car report of Gary guest -- well if you were looking for an alternative to the stock market.
And -- -- ahead at the Scottsdale Arizona next week where the big annual collector car auctions.
Going to be taking place one of the biggest of course is about Jackson options which are shown live on speed.
Starting on Tuesday night with me now the host Barrett Jackson those -- abortion great to have you by thanks -- great to be here.
The collector car industry the auction industries actually been to -- even in this down economy and -- -- so people.
Almost treating it like an alternative stock market the stock market's down but there's -- to be made here.
Chair as investors knowing when -- when when times get rough they tend to invest in hard assets in -- stocks and bonds are fine but things like jewelry and works of art.
Gold that sort of thing and it turns out collector cars have done very well in fact in some cases over the past.
Decade or two.
They've beaten the stock market by double digit percentages in terms of annual growth so at the very high end.
Collector cars can be very good investments predictions are pretty good for this year at the respect and pretty big shows across the board particularly Barrett Jackson -- what are some of the top cars that are going to be there this year and it was an exciting stuff absolutely.
A year ago Barrett Jackson came up with the idea what they call the salon collection the very best of the best that they gather about two dozen cars.
All capable of going to seven figures and in some cases may be -- figures he figures and we're gonna send those cars across I say we are Jackson we'll send them across on Saturday and what we call Saturday prime time.
One after another and it's going to be interesting to see.
Whether one hang in car affects the one coming on afterwards you know -- -- business attitude of trying to be the follow up back can be tough.
But these cars are so great there's half a dozen beautiful prewar classics a couple of -- -- -- anybody cars.
There is a 300 SL Mercedes gull wing which if that alone wasn't good enough.
This one has the probe amounts of being delivered new originally to Rhett Butler -- self.
Clark Gable so he's 44 cars cash there're some some coach work.
-- -- goes in there.
Packard's cadillacs.
It's it's it's a staggering array of cars and there's a Ferrari.
365 GTB four and there are so.
An amazing collection crossing decades of automotive design and performance one particular celebrity -- that's going to be the car itself a celebrity of the original we're told that mobile that's right judge -- writer for the Adam West.
Television show the the old master himself will be there.
And it's a very cool car it's autographed by Adam West Burt ward.
Julie new Maher and all the -- of the original can't be Batman television show.
So that'll be interesting to see go across because the idea of the block we have some other Hollywood and television cars.
Barrett Jackson really strives to have something for everyone out there this is not.
The average person's perception of -- an automobile auction might be with them with a stuffy auctioneer and hushed crowd in fact -- spectators allowed inside at all of most of the top auctions.
But Barrett Jackson pioneered the idea of making this a family event with lifestyle activities.
New car introductions and incredible array of things to see and do and of course the focus of at all is the auctioning off -- about thirteen hundred collectible cars.
And it's.
It's -- it's wild you know our auctioneers all come from the southern United States their budget cowboys and they let their personalities show and it's it's a real rock and roll event that we really have fun it is loud and exciting and there are a lot of regular cars there to you -- cars crossing the block for 3040000.
Dollars.
They looked really good on TV do they look is -- person and they are all pretty good shape or there's some things there to get a little hurt Jackson very careful to make sure that our cars are what their consign -- saying they are ultimately it's between the seller and the buyer and the good thing about Barrett Jackson is.
For the price of your bitter -- or just the general admission ticket you can pay 2030 bucks depending on the day.
And go see every single car walk right up to it look inside talk to the consign -- -- sitting there.
You're gonna have to be -- bitter if you want -- actually test drive the car but you can see all of these cars up close and personal.
And wander the grounds having the place all to yourself except for the reserved seating area for the -- and their VIP hospitality but other than that.
The general admission ticket get you everything and there is an awful lot to see you think there's going to be a break out car this year.
Muscle cars.
Something like that and -- that's gonna really be the way there could very well be and that's part of the fun of broadcasting Barrett Jackson is you never know when there's that odd -- thing that you never thought about.
That just catches someone imagination a few years ago for example.
And and for car rolls across this fiber glass half car half boat.
Couple hundred -- more made.
This one beautifully restored goes up on the block of -- Jackson is somebody wants it well actually two people wanted it which is when the bidding gets intense.
And it's sold for a 125000.
Dollars so it subsequent auctions all of a sudden -- got half the cars fall out of the sky because of but he says wait a minute I went in on this market.
We haven't seen -- car must be said reach that number before but after that.
A Volkswagen samba bus beautifully restored I'll admit but it went for 200000 dollars -- the other -- Jackson auctions.
And that brings more more imitators you just never know pick up trucks nicely -- pickup trucks have been a big hit in recent years so.
We'll be looking for that one crazy object that we never would have thought would have captured the imagination of the crowd.
And it will do you know as we say set the auction market if it does well they'll be others that subsequent events -- -- Jackson all week next -- on -- starting on Tuesday have fun in warm and sunny Scottsdale would be in Chile Detroit next week -- in Detroit auto show on Monday and Tuesday will be here live.
1 PM on foxnews.com live until then just check out all the news.
