Movies opening this weekend zero dark thirty gangster squad and -- haunted house I'm very curious about zero dark thirty there's been so much talk about this.

Where -- -- set on the to.

I don't.

Right at the top it's about 9495%.

To the critics are liking it a lot certified fresh -- fantastic movie.

You know pretty well represented at the Oscar nominations.

Yesterday although Kathryn Bigelow surprisingly didn't get a best.

Director nomination.

But it's a great movie this is the story about the hunt for an assassination of Osama bin Laden and it's a really powerful movie.

You know it kind of comes off a little bit dry at the beginning as they're going through.

All of the searching and try to track him down.

But things you -- get ramped up as the movie goes along it's a very powerful film.

Most of the critics are really liking this they say that it's a great look at that what happened.

You know there's been a lot of controversy about this movie about how true it may be about what actually is represented in the film I think it's worth seeing.

Especially because people are we talking about it and you know if you're photographers -- you should see -- you're able to really talk about it effectively.

And you know what if you love.

If you -- homeland for instance like I do and a lot of people here in the building you if you like things like homeland I assume that this is right up your Alley I mean.

Jason -- yeah absolutely absolutely absolutely.

And you know the supporting cast of here.

Is great not only do you have Jessica testing you've got guys like mark strong showing up.

You know James Gandolfini had a everytime you turn around you're seeing some -- has -- -- think what -- -- -- this even if -- and for 45.

Minutes sides in the great movie I really it's where my fear of reason here I think it's probably do do pretty well Oscar time.

You know you could probably still even has a shot at best picture.

Okay and then you've got said gangster squad was this movie that was held for awhile after one of our mass shootings.

Yes so -- your squad -- supposed to be really since.

Timber and after the tragic events that happen in -- -- -- over the summer around the release of the Dark Knight rises.

-- at Warner Bros.

decided they were gonna -- you part of this movie primarily because one of the climactic scenes in the movie.

Involved gangster shooting up a movie theater they come out from behind the screen.

That are shooting at people in the audience.

So that it was decided that that was probably not the right time to release that -- so they re shot that scene and released the movie just this week.

Unfortunately the movie is not that -- and you've got a great cast here you've got Sean Penn.

Josh Roland Ryan Gosling Emma Stone -- the secondary cast you've got guys like G Yvonne we're BC at Nick Nolte.

Side great great cast here but I think that really the story just isn't that good the other thing is -- -- critics aren't really that wild about it.

Pulling up 35% of lets me meter and the critics are pointing out how violent this movie.

And almost needlessly slow -- -- granted it is -- balance.

Gangsters but you know it may be that there's a sensitivity between you know roar at Newtown.

But I think the people are starting to pay attention to the violence in -- this movie is awfully violent -- doesn't seem to serve the story that well.

And also unfortunately makes you think of other better films along the lines of the untouchables -- LA confidential.

Right and then yeah you make a -- point because there's so much violence in our everyday life just watching the news.

With what's going on and a lot of people don't wanna see it and -- to go see it for that matter.

Right now this time in hot didn't just run I don't know if I've ever seen -- zero.

I am sure you had.

Four.

Yeah they they do come up haunted house is.

The latest film from -- wins I had also star Cedric the Entertainer die tomorrow always has worked on these scary movie movies this one is.

-- did not exactly that franchise but it's the same kind of thing this time they're spoofing the paranormal activity released.

Wasn't really screened for critics we've only got a handful reviews but they're all negative.

So it's giving the -- today to -- now.

The audience that likes these films is going to be five of that probably.

But I think if -- if you were considering getting into one of these this is not the -- -- us.

-- and and the real quick before I let you go the Oscar nominations just came out.

Always fun to talk to people in the business such as yourself.

Who -- who watches so many of the movies.

Were there any surprises for you at the snubs surprise you.

I think you know I was really surprised to see Ben Affleck not get -- nomination that was really surprise to me as well as Kathryn Bigelow I was kind of surprised to see.

That Joaquin Phoenix did get a nomination after all of that kind of -- comments that he had made where he talked about how he hated the Oscar race.

Typically everybody did a serving well he's not gonna get a nomination and actually the academy nominated him anyway so.

Maybe he's he'll be changing his tune it up heavyweights so what do you think is going to be the big headline on Oscar night is -- going to be Lincoln.

You know actually I think it's real life -- -- I think I think I.

To be you have -- -- pilot got nominated for eleven awards compared to Lincoln's twelve.

I actually -- right now that could change but right now I think life replies gonna take the best picture.

That's interesting because that's on my list and I keep going back and forth about whether or not a -- go see it.

And I always use your recommendations so I think I'll I'll make sure to check that out before -- gets -- Oscars.

That I yeah you should see another big screen especially -- -- amazing -- it's very beautiful.
