How can we get up politicians to wasn't -- it together well.

-- nationally known to politicians are trying to do just that -- -- -- governor Jon Huntsman.

I was able to Canada for the Republican presidential nomination -- And senator Joseph mention from -- Democrat from West Virginia.

The new leaders all of national movement called no labels gentlemen great to see you but thank you being here.

Thanks Jonathan thanks for hands -- let me -- to you first governor what do you aim to do through no labels.

It's pretty simple.

You've got to change the ethic in Washington.

Two more of a focus on problem solving if you can't get Republicans and Democrats in the same room what you can't do today it's not even being done.

To focus on problem solving and solutions I don't care whether it's a debt ceiling energy policy immigration policy your tax policy.

You've got to have our duly elected officials begin to sit around a table having embrace common principles of putting country before party.

Governing for the next generation as opposed to the next election and telling the American people the truth.

And that's what we rolled out today and park was a 25 member.

Problem solving group members of congress and our goal by the end of the year Jonathan has to be up to 75 or eighty.

And you can imagine how that's gonna change the debate once that is done.

But senate today it seems an extremely laudable aim but I kinda get the feeling.

We've heard it -- -- from other groups let's work together blue dog Democrats for instance on one side.

I -- it never quite seems to come to fruition what's different about what you'll going to achieve.

-- let me just tell you I've been in the senate for two years and I have yet to have the first meeting called by.

Any of the leadership Democrat -- Republican that would have a bipartisan caucus.

To talk to our colleagues in the senate Democrats and Republicans sitting down working on what their differences may be finding commonality.

Let alone ever meeting or even knowing our colleagues over on the other side of the capital which is in in the house.

This is the only form we have in America today it's helping bring us together.

We've had our first meetings with our congressional colleagues were able to talk to -- find out what they think that they can move.

Or what's the obstacle is in the house how we can help them in the senate.

We're not getting that from the top down we're basically doing that -- no labels and the problem solving groups we formed.

Governor visit this subtle phrases banging your head against a brick wall -- I mean you're taking a Hong quite a -- Kia.

Do you -- -- genuinely believe that as an organizer nation you can change the atmosphere in Washington governor.

I wouldn't be wasting my time -- Riggio we're not taken a penny to do this it's totally a labor of love.

And it's in the name of the next generation.

And they have to say there's nobody else even attempting this kind of thing when you can bring together Republicans and Democrats people like Dean Heller from Nevada.

A Tea Party Republican with people who -- that complete opposite on the liberal democratic side.

And you can couple with that.

That a problem solver group.

A grassroots movement like the kind that showed up today 15100 activists from all over the country who were expanding their ranks in every congressional district in this country.

I've never seen anything quite like this before I come from a background an environment that speaks to progress and results and solutions and so does Joseph mansion and together that is exactly what we're focused on as well.

And it's this or is watching everything.

From sidelines at a time when the dysfunction of congress is making this very nation of ours dysfunction.

-- that's for -- I can't imagine that -- a single American who would disagree with your -- But some may he be if shall we say skeptical about whether there achievable win but we certainly what I think would all hope they off.

I'm done talking of compromise senator -- I want wanted to just told you briefly.

Back gun control -- one of the first from.

What he's very much AAA pro gun state West Virginia to come out in the wake of the -- -- -- and -- Terry school tragedy.

And say we need to take some sort of -- snapped up President Obama the white has today talked -- background checks limiting high capacity magazine clips.

And an assault weapons ban as what he called sensible steps.

We can take do you believe congress and get compromise and follow through on those at all they -- laudable legends.

-- I haven't seen the his proposal yet you know the recommendation from Vice President Biden.

I have this truly ask for a comprehensive approach.

To the mass violence that we have and our culture today.

And if you just try to pin pointed to one source of the other it's gonna make it very difficult if you try to look at it as a hole and try to fix the inherent problems we have.

As a culture of violence.

I think we can make some headway is I think you can listen to the people that basically bitter gun owners that are NRA members.

Like myself.

-- want to understand more.

People who have different types of arms people have a larger magazines.

We wanna hear from all the different sides we want to hear from the health professionals that know they have the expertise of mental illness and also from the media.

This putting out these videos I need to hear it how do we do that.

Myself and John McCain have introduced a bill that basically forms a commission on mass violence sort of along the same lines as -- 9/11 commission.

After the attack on our country.

I'm hoping the vice president the president will incorporate that also.

All right I'm governor I got about thirty seconds I left last -- -- you you also come from a state where there are of course a lot of hunters a lot of gums in circulation.

In -- do you believe that should be any sort of limits and I'm focused just young guns now prisons would you support an assault weapons ban.

Well with a name like Huntsman I'm not sure a lot of people are going to be.

Questioning my Second Amendment -- -- days.

But this is a much broader discussion I mean I grew up shooting guns my first what hell did it 8622.

At age twelve.

But this is a much broader discussion that is only get a could be complete as Joseph mentioned mentioned.

-- with a comprehensive approach you've got to talk about mental illness you've got to talk about the impact of Hollywood there's Second Amendment Rights of play and there are first amendment rights of -- because of that it's a very delicate and sensitive issue.

All right gentlemen -- governor Huntsman as -- imagine Democrat of West Virginia great to see you and aides say fascinating organization no labels.

-- one that I think every American will be hopeful is extremely.

Successful gentlemen thank you very much for taking the time to -- with us and on the -- today.
