-- more than two months now after hurricane -- ravaged the north -- in New York is really just starting to demolish the homes.

That were damaged really beyond repair.

In many cases Rick Rick Leventhal is live in hard -- Staten Island New York she was there from all around in Jersey in New York all in the days during -- after.

This storm so what does it look like there now -- today.

Sadly -- very little has changed here -- what's incredible today is that some of these homes that were built barely a hundred years ago.

I have been demolished in less than thirty minutes is -- debater just finished doing a job on -- home that stood here since sometime in the 1920s.

It flattened it.

Very very quickly we have video from that from -- less than an hour ago the actual demolition is being done by private contractors were hired by the city.

That the debris eventually will be hauled away by the army corps been engineered -- -- very careful process.

They turn off the power in the gas to their home in neighboring home quicker than there are no issues.

In the neighborhood.

And they also work very extensively with a homeowner to make sure that they've got all their possessions out.

And that they even as -- get counseling and are prepared to deal the -- that may follow when they watch these homes that some people have lived in their whole lives are reduced to basically nothing more.

Pattern I'd have to make a personal choice as to whether or not -- want to see that happen or not be there.

When that is happening but it's it's the necessary step -- in order to get to the next.

Which is to rebuild lives and to rebuild those houses are they planning to do that most people you talk to.

We you know a lot of people are having issues with their insurance companies I spoke to the man who lives next door this property -- shook his head and -- When I asked about insurance that it was terrible.

A lot of these folks have flood insurance but they're getting it from their insurance company we stop another hot house being demolished yesterday in this very same neighborhood and talk to a man who lived in that neighborhood who who don't home had been torn down he had grown up in that house you lived there for over fifty years along with five this siblings.

And he is at this point in limbo riding an emotional roller coasters.

The insurance companies are not coming through for us it's three months it's this -- three weeks when not being.

You know -- it -- or anything like this is three months into it.

Right now we need the money we need to be able to start -- -- when.

Still waiting for answers here Martha at least a hundred homes are expected to be demolished and that -- by the end of the month and more than 300 in New York City sometime this break.

But you gotta make -- on insurance policy that's why -- people paid for -- they knew they -- in a difficult situation.

And they have to get some kind of resolution -- thanks for staying on this a wreck we'll see you -- see back here.

The governor bush who.
