Happening now the UN kicking off some new talks -- Tehran today in the hopes of getting details about Iran's suspected nuclear program.
UN inspectors are looking into reports Iran may have carried out.
And nuclear bomb test that's happening as we speak in the meantime Iran's president Mahmoud -- -- -- -- going before parliament today in Iran saying.
Sanctions against oil exports are hurting the country and changes are needed in Iran's economies commander a lot of pressure for the economy there.
In Iran John Bolton is a former ambassadors of the UN.
The Fox News contributor and ambassador we put that question before the break.
How is this year going to be different than last year because when you look at the story that we just -- shared with our viewers.
He could almost pick it up and read at this time last year you could almost -- the same thing.
So how would this year be different when it comes to Iran and its nuclear program in getting access potentially that figuring out what's going on there.
Well I don't expect the international atomic energy agency to have much success and as saying locations they want to see inside.
Iran until they are running government thinks -- is clean them up sufficiently so that they won't be able to detect any thing.
I think the economic sanctions are going to continue to hurt.
Iran no doubt about that but not enough to -- -- the continuing progress toward nuclear weapon I think the big unknown.
Is that we're gonna have an election in Israel here next week.
We'll see how that comes out but if the government of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu his return -- powers I think most observers believe.
I think Israel has a very very difficult decision.
In the next six to nine months whether they're gonna use military force against the Iran in nuclear weapons program I think.
You you can count on the Obama administration not using it so the spotlight will be on Netanyahu.
Ambassador their right to brought out by the prime minister.
Netanyahu because as we were examining this question how is this your different than last we realize -- the prime minister and it's really interesting comments at the UN just a few months ago.
That pointed out how different when he thirteen maybe for not only Israel and Iran but for the rest the world let's take a listen back.
Do wrong.
You wants completed.
The first stage.
The committee years.
But they completed it and -- 70% of the way -- Now they're well into the second stage.
And by next spring and most by next summer.
At current in Richmond rates.
-- finished.
The medium enrichment.
And move on to the final stage.
From there it's only a few months possibly a few weeks.
Before they get enough enriched uranium.
For the first.
-- today's and that timeline as this summer coming happens when a thirteen ambassador do you see the actions only adds we have a nuclear Iran or.
Israel attacks.
Yes I think those are basically the two options -- actually prime minister Netanyahu made it more complicated than it is.
Based on the reactor grade enriched uranium that Iran now has.
I think most experts believe it could take four to six weeks to enrich enough to weapons grade levels to fashion.
One weapon but here's the thing Iran is not in -- hurried to get one weapon real quick.
They -- building a broad and deep nuclear infrastructure largely because they think they can they don't worry -- the United States.
And I think they believe that at some point the United States will prevent Israel from attacking.
They they have been right on that so far.
Will see in the next six months I don't know what Israel's got to do I do know that twice before in their history.
They've struck the nuclear programs of -- -- states.
And they're gonna have to make a decision very very soon the Obama administration in my view.
Whether or not Chuck Hagel is confirmed he's not going to use military force that's why the decision rest with Israel.
A quickly a thought is about we could move quickly to this other straight is breaking as we take a look at our enemies at work really against us in this world you see al-Qaeda very active in North Africa.
We now have word.
That they have taken hostages three Americans according to some senior officials in Washington DC.
According to other reports what they want and exchanges for the French government to stop bombing us bombing campaign that started recently.
I have in this area of Molly.
And we'll hopefully get another map that's you can see where -- -- -- influences and that city near your quick thoughts on what's happening with developing there in this part of the world.
Yet very little doubt that the hostage taking in Algeria is not a direct result of the French attack in Mali Algeria former French colony Molly former French colony.
Algeria depending increasingly on -- -- and natural gas production and to show that.
The oil and gas workers there are not safe obviously would have a detrimental effect on Algeria's economy.
So this is intended to put pressure on Algeria put pressure on France.
And it just shows if anybody needed any evidence the war on terror is not over Osama bin Laden may be dead.
That al-Qaeda has spread throughout North Africa throughout the Arabian Peninsula.
The terrorists are still out there and they're still after the west.
That you can you can try and minimize that the consequences.
But you're just whistling past the graveyard unfortunately.
This is story will continue to watch appreciate your perspective is -- ambassador thank you.
Thank you down.
