When I was eighteen and it's brought the surgery -- to me I just lost my mom two years before.
And he said -- need to be incredibly vigilant you know this is something that not only took your mom but your grandmother and your great aunts and he brought up the idea of having the surgery and at first I was so taken back as a dad now on I'm not doing that you know some incredibly invasive surgery you know I just and developing into the body that I have now.
But he looked me straight in the face and said you're gonna and the dead like your mom.
And you know I was so.
So taken back at that.
Because -- I just lost my mom it was so typical.
To deal with that -- to have him and be that brutally honest -- my face but.
I think over the time.
You know -- years gone by I realized the wisdom and -- mark and he just wanted me to be alive.
And the more did my research -- found out my mom is diagnosed.
With a stage three invasive breast cancer those killed are 27.
-- 25 years old.
And so I said you know I think this might be their decision helped prolong my life.
Have you spoken to doctors found and -- and have been tested to see whether -- carry the gene that today is is associated with breast cancer yes I'm actually -- one and two mutation negative.
But -- my mother and seen a lot of people like to say you'll know when she's with a healthy lifestyle and to be very vigilant but.
My -- was a marathon runner you know she had a raw food diet she lived in Hawaii about as healthy as you can possibly get and -- didn't stop her from getting cancer.
So if I can do something to decrease my likelihood of developing breast cancer by.
Upwards of 90% that's what I'm gonna do you know I will allow women would find great difficulty making a decision like that especially someone the united attractive young woman a woman that -- -- but.
You don't you don't have that -- them well.
I mean I read -- Entry from my mom -- her journal when she was talking to me and she said you know I'm so sorry to leave field because -- need me for many years and not just a few.
And it really put me in the position of what it was like to be my mom.
And to struggle writing that letter to know that she was a -- battle with breast cancer she's reliever children and her husband and I but I -- want that to me.
And I can live my life without my breasts if that means I get to live -- long healthy life with my family.
Q my mom had one breast to her entire life and didn't suffer from being a good mom for a good -- well you know I suspect that day I suspect have to do this said day you're never wonderful successful great life and dad and my hat goes off to you and good luck thank you I see -- -- to -- --
