Chris Brown joining us Chris browns from Orbitz we're talking about -- because of course are getting ready to -- a lot of people are now planning what they're doing for the upcoming spring and summer further.

Their travel needs and of course with tablets and Smartphones and computers are so many ways to connect now.

And Chris joins us live from New York Chris thanks for coming in absolutely must unless there.

I don't you guys have done some some significant upgrade -- part of Reading your article yesterday and in preparation for this segment.

One on line -- -- newspaper was talking about how there are so many different ways out there to to research travel.

And there's so many things you can do as somebody who wants to travel a but they really gave you guys up props saying orbit seems to be the one.

Who has.

Basically moved along with technology the best they found a way to adapt -- new things came out they try to update that site your site and and your apps for example.

As swiftly as possible how do you guys do that how do you guys keep.

Up with so much stuff that's happening with other Smartphones and android apple with video that the laptops and and and tablets every different way people can now access your site.

You know I think first and foremost we're a technology company and we're curious and we we knew we -- find new ways to help travelers and particularly mobile or -- had.

A blow out 2012 we've really really brought great products to market consumers are loving them.

I'm seeing the iPhone up there right now and it's it's really been a great.

A great out for us this year and you know yes they were consumers are and there are not phones there and ipads -- on android phones and we're able to really think about new ways help travelers with these new devices.

-- in -- we have some ways that you you guys put out about the ways people can.

Can updates and and and actually move along as overs does as well -- -- of some mobile platform goals you know 2013.

A watch explain those force.

Yeah I think you know we had a really great here between twelve with with the iPhone and -- thirteen we really wanna focus on the iPad.

Bringing ability to search and book flights and cars also to the iPad -- a seamless experience the book all three.

We're looking at.

Putting our next generation android phone out there -- can bring not -- to the next level and then I think.

Amongst travel we -- slot on shopping and booking for flights cars and hotels but also really folks -- that in -- part of the activities well.

You bring your mobile devices with you when you travel there's a lot of ways we can help the traveler.

During the whole trip.

No one thing that surprised me is was how many people book on their tablets and their Smartphones we knew obviously because there's so many times were out.

And we going to breaking news story is -- you're literally in the car in the -- yet to call hotels and try to figure who had rooms now we -- our Smartphones and -- -- -- you're right there we have the information.

And what that was assisting with the mobile usage orbits put up for 2013 one out of every four hotels booked.

Was through a mobile device in 2012.

I suspect that number's gonna go up right.

Yeah in fact that's that was for December of 2012 when when you when you think about it.

E-commerce that large I think the number for 2012 that he -- -- it was 11% -- 13% of all e-commerce.

Mobile made of Jefferson and -- e-commerce thing and expect to get to 25%.

Until 2016.

Orbits in our hotel category had 25% of our hotels in December.

Of last year already coming through mobile devices and so travel is really leading the way in terms of mobile adoption in particular.

Searching and booking ultimately -- acting on mobile devices.

Chris it was instinct two is the ability for people to access -- all over the globe effect -- I'm talking to you right now I just got a couple of notes and our FaceBook page.

-- one from chasing Gillis here in Southern California watching.

And then a lady named Mateen -- rats not seek hope I got that right is watching at 1 AM in Jakarta Indonesia right now.

You could just goes to show -- someone's called me on the phone right now from an 866 number so the point is people can contact and watched from anywhere in the world.

-- absolutely in and I think people are using -- time in between you know they're waiting in line at a coffee -- check of flight booking booking a vacation on the way home on the train.

I think they're using -- in the lots of different ways in particular tablets now when you get home from work.

You don't listen when a plot that PC anymore you wanna sit on the couch -- -- -- -- -- iPad -- iPad -- and -- -- gonna go next.

Yet -- out one more thing to we have I don't watch ourselves on our -- -- but that the percentage of people that book for one night staging a Smartphone.

-- makes sense to run a business trip -- if you're you know you're out like we are again at the last minute doing a story that hopefully the good news story.

And all of a sudden we have stay overnight and San Diego or Arizona where we have to be we -- Smartphones and -- you.

Got yourself a room for one night because you're not necessarily planning ahead for that big -- trip it's a last minute type of thing.

Yet I assume that's a big market for you guys.

It's now it's huge last minute travels big for Smartphone particularly 65% of the hotels that are booked or within a day of check in.

Compare that with typically we see on a PC -- or desktop that's around twelve to 14%.

Within a day of checking orbits the Tweeter there in the middle is the iPad in the I've iPad mini -- Those guys about 35% of the time are booking within day of travel for a hotel.

And religious and see how Fiat had many really starts -- gain -- Little bit more portable than that the current iPad and see if it you start to see -- last minute bookings for that type of us.

-- -- Round joining us from New York appreciate your time with Orbitz and of course we'll continue to follow you guys and again as we talk about -- I'm I'm holding -- for devices in front right now.

Everything from Blackberry to iPhone four to a tablet as well as my laptop computer and of course orbits.

Has it on all four and more you can -- it and find it -- -- many sites out there you can do but again we've been impressed with the way you guys have.

Continue to evolve -- all these different devices evolve and the speeds above his -- to actually a quick thing I assume dispute everything makes sure you guys have to -- -- -- -- with everything.

I mean absolutely I think we started this here with a basic premise for that it would mobile it should be easy to search and book all the all the components of a vacation and played a car and hotel -- one seamless sort app experience without -- other sites.

Making it really is and I think consumers are really surprised -- how easy can be in fact that rivals the web.

Quite a bit.
