Great gun debate continues as vice president Joseph Biden wraps up his task force -- this week joining us now for a fair and balanced debate on some of the potential of -- radio talk show host Leslie Marshall and Marc Davis welcome to the tune you great to have you here today.

Get unlike you I.

I -- mom remark about what's -- -- right now do you expect that the White House is going to impose an executive orders.

When it comes to implementing some of these recommendations.

I don't know it's hard to say -- I can't read their minds I can understand the temptation because a lot of the things they say are -- so sensible and -- -- urgently needed -- things that will not pass either house of congress so it's got to be tempting for them to wanna do it by the magic -- of the wave of their mighty hand.

I don't think they'll do executive order I think that would be unpopular on on all sides -- check -- Lesley I'm at.

But if they put up the congress -- you are going right to a constitutional battle for the ages so bring it on.

A lovely out when it comes to executive orders lots of folks would be very upset if the White House circumvent congress.

Well I I would agree with mark I I think you're right mark that we agree on that no -- I don't think is going to be an executive order here although I -- disagree with mark.

As to the response in the house and the senate you have to remember that you know whether people out there you know buying guns or ammunition.

You know people want responsible gun ownership people are concerned about some of the background checks and and in some states like Aurora Colorado for example.

-- there was no link to anyone with mental illness such as mr.

Holmes.

And and that can present a problem so it it's it's not you know this is not a debate about taking -- the Second Amendment.

This is a a debate in actually unifying our country so that we can be safer and have safer nation for children should be fearful to drop children off at school.

-- can be it can be if if people -- is reasonable as Leslie is it it we can't avoid.

And a squabble because the -- the NRA itself is is all about making sure that we take people who should not be touching guns in the first place.

Ex mental patients -- criminals and make sure about that but that when we start talking about ammo clips in which guns are going to be available that is the Second Amendment issue and it could get.

-- let me ask you mark I mean first off you know in the NRA talked about -- -- security guards the White House dismissed.

That a proposal as something -- and they would never.

Even consider -- but now we're hearing as I mentioned earlier in the show that senator Barbara Boxer is proposing -- some legislation to bring up.

For the president to go ahead and do -- -- use federal funds to pay for -- security -- what do you think of this is this hypocrisy well.

If it's it's understandable I -- I'd listen I think there's such a thing as Democrats who in and Leslie may well be one of them who recognize that good people with guns are not to be feared.

Our lieutenant governor David Dewhurst and store you guys ran just a few minutes ago he's going to try to provide some state funding so that teachers who want to nobody's gonna make anybody do it.

Yeah I can get training so that they can be the person to stop the next -- -- that that is nothing but a good idea.

Left -- -- life.

I suddenly got what else -- I mean first of all please don't -- don't talk talk to me you know about the founding forefathers with like you know you know high caliber magazine clips I think they would roll in agreement if they can come back from the -- I wish they would to tell us that they agreed that.

But what we talk about dialog in the schools when we talk about it you know column -- had armed guards in the schools.

So I'm not sure that's that's gonna solve all I live in Los Angeles will we have metal detectors and some of the LA unified school district schools.

And that doesn't stop some kids from bringing guns into the schools and other weapons such as knives and and hurting each other.

I'm I'm you know as far as the teacher training I'm really uncomfortable.

Sending my child to school where there is a gun.

With a teacher I'm actually more comfortable with them having in -- police officer and you wanna talk hypocrisy.

I think is hysterical that the NRA and those are there why are talking about maybe wanting armed guards in the school -- police officers but.

Because aren't those the very people those union workers that you constantly want to cut the paychecks of the pensions up the health care benefits -- not you wanna hire them.

Since -- -- do any thing but don't put more guns on the list.

Or clips on the list that can't be -- come on -- that I know the last word I had so there's moral equivalency -- there's there's no such thing as a good gun or a bad got it depends -- -- whose hand you're fine aren't very -- this debate could go on not I thank you both for joining us is always wonderful to have you here on the show.
