Joined by colonel Oliver North he's a Fox News military analyst and colonel what a situation so now.

As she points out in the officials on our insiders say it's very hazy they've never seen something so hazy.

But as we know from the latest reports they took off about a hundred and -- 32 hostages about a hundred have been released.

But these others are still being held including Americans and now.

They want to deal your thoughts.

Well first of all is not going to be a deal it almost all hostage situations there's going to be some kind of offer of an exchange except in cases like Danny Pearl -- -- simply -- -- kill in this case an American Jew.

One of the things that I think this ought to serve to do is -- it's all up to the lie that we've been told ever since last today.

That al-Qaeda is on the wrong refer to countless times Republican here during the inaugural.

We've seen -- movies from a from Hollywood.

Bottom line of it is al-Qaeda is simply just one of many radical Islamic terror organizations.

We've seen it now and Molly we see it all over sub saharan Africa.

Which is quickly becoming the next big battle ground.

Outside of the Middle East itself.

-- chaos that we see in Syria is part of and quite frankly -- inability on this on the part of this administration.

To see who the real enemy is and our ability to respond that any of it is being reduced by the cuts were making.

And our defense posture one last point about what's going on.

In Algeria.

The algerians have been through this before because all the way back to the 1990s.

Some may remember is I do.

That the kidnap of of French priests who eventually murdered because the French would not accommodate their demands.

If you look at what we don't have in the Mediterranean right now we have no carrier battle group even though the law -- requires us to have eleven we only have nine.

Navy officials told me just a short while ago the nearest amphibious ready group with a marine expeditionary unit aboard.

Is off the East Coast of Africa know are no -- -- in the med therefore reduced ability to respond and we were told after Ben Ghazi.

The things we're -- -- It better they haven't on the subject of Ben Ghazi KT McFarland was on our air earlier today suggesting.

As she had prior to this happening that some terrorists in the world.

Might feel emboldened by what they perceived as a lack of response to the murder of our ambassador Chris Stevens and three others on 9/11 no one's been killed.

One person was captured and arrested and now he's been released there's been no accountability.

If -- the terrorists who committed that act your thoughts on whether the two things are related.

FBI director Mueller is allegedly there on the ground right now doing his own inspection of of what's been learned and and what's been found in this investigation.

Bottom line of all of this and Megan I think it's a very serious problem.

We don't know much about what's really happening around the world we have very little human intelligence just give you one last thing to worry about.

Who got Chavez is on his deathbed in Cuba.

His latest wife and some of his many children have been flown -- secretly his successor is already in place what happens if in the midst of our inaugural ceremonies.

Something terrible happens to our embassy in Caracas who's going to go where you gonna call we've cut our defense is so badly so deeply.

We may not be able to respond ourselves.

Are about to cut them more if the sequester takes place -- a couple of months and that's still on the chopping block money for our defense.

Department I want to ask you about the C 130 plane it's now heading to -- in LO what what is it what do you see what if any role do you see for the united states military.

And going in there and trying to rescue these American hostages.

Our capability to do -- is very limited that the reality of it is without the permission of of local governments we can't do much at all and again.

When the administration announces all the way back in 2009 that we're going to lead from behind we demonstrate that -- what chaos occurred in Libya.

And then overthrow Moammar Gadhafi we've demonstrated to begin with Syria.

The Americans have withdrawn from the scene there's units that are capable of doing those things but you still need some kind of acquiescence -- -- host nation.

And obviously the algerians are not going to give that to us you think it.

Any -- on the terror of -- hostage takers part about the fact that they have Americans in their group with all due respect to.

Our friends from France I mean you take an American hostage he takes it to another level I mean we've got the greatest military in the world right now.

It do you think that that's given special consideration by a group like yes.

Oh I think that that is very likely we're gonna see a great deal more of this I think that what you see occurring in sub saharan Africa gives them all kinds of opportunities.

They they may not be a monolith.

But they -- they've learned from the playbook.

That Americans to respond.

Poorly and -- take it the case the American people we we don't like to see our citizens taken hostage that we went through that ordeal.

Of quarter and 44 days -- what occurred in 1979.

No one's ever forgotten that if they're old enough to remember it.

And they know that and they study that and they look at what America's response is -- of this administration and they say we can get away with it.

Oliver North thank you -- My pleasure --
