There will be pundits and politicians and special interest lobbyists publicly warning of -- -- -- too radical all out assault on liberty.

Now because that's true.

But because.

They want to gin up fear or higher ratings or revenue for themselves.

And behind the scenes they'll do everything they can't.

To block any common sense reform and make sure nothing changes whatsoever.

President Obama on Wednesday flanked by his vice president and four children with their parents pushing his agenda on gun control.

Taking a swipe at his opponents and the media in lock -- with his efforts.

Shortly finding Osama -- lot.

Shortly passing civil rights legislation is Lyndon Johnson was able to do -- before that.

Shortly defeating the Nazis.

What's a much more formidable task then taking on the gone -- So if we can defeat the -- the the Germans in World War II I guess the NRA is supposed to be easy that's what he's a -- And right I mean he's giving himself a little bit weak IQ that is little bit of wiggle room -- I didn't exactly compare -- -- and that's -- I've sort of -- in the same pot.

And let them let them but people -- on the audience sorted out.

-- what we are furious he is an all out assault on gun owners on opponents of gun control.

And on the language itself when you seen words like Nazi thing George Orwell back in 1946 payments SA said it the -- fat.

Fascism should only be used for people.

And Hitler and Mussolini and so on.

And not just run on all ten of 19467.

Years later we're still don't as much as ever you see a different way Judy.

Well not really I mean I do think that Schieffer was kind of very close to the line.

Advocacy.

As opposed to.

Reading the news and being straight about a new story I do think that even though there wasn't a direct comparison.

There's clearly an inference that they -- the NRA is the equivalent of the Nazis and I do think it raised questions about whether or not.

He wasn't just a little bit to opinion -- it is the president said that there'd be outrageous claims G ending up fear among among guns.

Yeah -- among the population while I do think that a lot of people I mean speaking of Nazis a lot of people these these gun rights people think that Obama's like the next Hitler and they need to have their guns to protect themselves from his tyranny so.

People throw the word around all the time and I frankly.

I can't stand this TC stuff that drives me crazy I mean it kind of -- had -- not see it -- should be.

You still say it and now suddenly -- say everybody thinks a year you know -- comparing them to.

It's you know two to gassing people and and murdering six -- -- I I think that would Bob Schieffer is point was is -- we can overcome such huge things certainly.

-- have a steps -- and an NRA owns congress that they have no reason why -- -- it you know.

Why can't what does that matter he also part of the Civil Rights Act as if you can pass the Civil Rights Act surely you could.

You can stand -- the NRA I don't think he was comparing anybody to Hitler I think any more than he was comparing them to pass in the sole rights.

Legislation using double quote things difficult thing.

But this is actually less difficult -- these things over here.

There was a lot of polling out this week -- -- on not often noticed among it was a Gallup poll that shows.

Public approval of the NRA at 54%.

Approval of the president at 53%.

Well the problem John is that the media always turn to government as the first resource instead of -- last resort.

We have more laws on the books regarding guns than ever now especially in Chicago -- over 500 people were murdered.

In 2012.

Why -- the president out there in Chicago.

The the answers not more legislation the answer lies in the home fatherless children all kinds of openings but the media lacking.

They demon right now because there's no beating Republican they can turn into the devil are now going after the NRA.

They never talk about the law abiding citizens of this country who were not breaking the law and the fact that the more launch you pastor not going to call because people who want to break the law -- suddenly become law abiding.

What about the.

The -- theatrics.

At that news conference putting those kids on the stage behind him Rich Lowry who is and occasional guest on this program wrote in the national review Barack Obama setting a new standard Wednesday.

For stupidly exploit native White House events I think that's really an unfair criticism.

It was children who were killed at sandy hook and it was children who had written to the president saying this is what we can do can you do something.

It was an emotional pitch yes it was against an organization that is -- says owns the congress and I think it's fair game.

The LA times Jim called the president's production big bold and brassy.

Right and of course have been if -- been under Reagan or bush 41 for -- they would have called it -- -- as and Mike -- and you know they would call -- -- showbiz Hollywood instead it was it was praised him in look at the showmanship and pageantry here part of television including television news so we.

We can't complain about too much but it is situation -- when there's going to and it's good when Democrats do it bad Republicans.

And then there was the -- and it came out this week and the it blasts NBC news anchor David Gregory is being sort of an elitist and a hypocrite.

What do you think.

Well I mean that I think probably and that they're they're trying to take this approach I guess for -- saying that they think anybody who wants to -- gun laws as an elitist and it's it's just this false paradigm at an -- setting up and I and I and then -- being -- and new PR director and it's just it's just for starters because they're not they're not really doing a good job communicating.

Their view it's not elitism people have different.

Views about guns and people have different views of whether you need to -- a weapon that can fire.

Sixteen rounds and in senator what do you call it you know getting the terminology just right isn't the point the point is there a lot of Americans who think you don't need how.

All right next on news watch some.
