-- Barack Hussein Obama do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute that I will faithfully excuses.
The office of president of the United States the office of president of the United States and will to the best of my ability and will to the best of my building.
Preserve protect and defend.
Preserve protect and defend the constitution of the United States constitution of the United States so help you god so help me god.
He's gonna talk about our political system doesn't require us to resolve all our disputes -- political difference but it does require us.
To seek common ground when it can and should -- you can make -- point very strongly.
This John there was no do over.
Chief Justice John Roberts had -- note cards and the second term for Barack Obama has begun sworn in today in private.
The ceremony is tomorrow let's bring in our panel Bill Kristol editor of the weekly standard AB Stoddard associate editor of the hill and syndicated columnist Charles care.
Okay bill let's talk about this inauguration obviously.
We'll talk about the second term and what's ahead but the speech and what lies ahead tomorrow your personal condolences on the falcons and yeah.
One out there -- -- -- who admires you for your playing hurt him fairly confusing and that's how I -- -- attacking guys led the 49 he did -- gracious and and Mitt Romney graduated -- -- and the President Clinton when -- -- And well look I assume the president will give a not a partisan speech tomorrow and he's capable giving.
Credited speech and I look forward to hearing and I'm curious what to say about foreign policy in particular America's role in the world -- -- -- it inflection point.
I'm pretty -- personally about what might the next four years -- -- but I'm curious to see how much she.
Who boasts that he's ended the war in Iraq and that the -- of -- receding.
Where does he say that America remains indispensable nation at least signals something other than.
Pretty thorough retreat from the world which is sort of situation as it looks to me.
One of the biggest challenges -- be for this presidency gets ready for this push him and obviously -- the inaugural address tomorrow but then you have the state of the union just you know couple weeks away.
The biggest jobs that were in a real not only threats.
To our security at home and overseas that -- fiscal crisis and were -- At odds -- we have a president and Republican.
Party not speaking to each other were heading again to the edge of default would have to come up with a solution to that and and Americans are so wary of these -- operational calls for unity that they hear from President Obama -- in dresses and inaugural addresses and -- their moments but they just -- the fiscal cliff every one paying their holiday bills was -- their taxes might go up.
And they know the congress is broken I know that our government is paralyzed and -- know the President Obama.
He's complicit in that and shore when he was inaugurated four years ago Republicans made a plan to go after him and they try to make -- break his knees.
But he is complicit in the fact that the government is locked in paralysis.
And we're looking at another fiscal crisis and and fear that this could just -- -- -- continue so.
It's hard for him to get a lofty speech where he calls for unity tomorrow -- and really lift up every one on.
Who who is leery about the state -- flag in Washington -- -- -- And James piece tonight you know -- in some of the things he said that last speech inaugural address he will likely.
Say again in different ways this speech because.
That it hasn't changed that much.
I think there's probably true because we're we're still in a fiscal.
Crisis we're still looking -- very dangerous.
So I think basically he's living at the same tasks.
But what struck me the first time around the -- for the first inaugural address.
Was rather at a dying and -- the very nonspecific.
As a first African Americans a lot of references to the historic nature.
-- of these election but there was nothing to indicate which way you go ideologically nothing.
He had no idea fuses centrist -- he was -- clintonian.
His views are left guy and then.
They stated the union address equivalent which he gave.
At the end of February who was what I thought the most radical.
Social democratic manifest we've had in the country since FDR -- -- was you'd change America.
Specific health care education and energy.
And -- put -- a program which was quite radical including the stimulus.
So I expect to probably.
-- same path he'll give us in the inaugural address which will likely not be memorable.
But I think he's gonna come -- slashing.
And probably trying to marginalize Republican State of the Union Address because he's got an -- his agenda.
And that he wants to go after an inactive because he sees himself as world historical.
But if it's ambitious agenda bill at some point Republicans have to figure into that so.
There there has to be some coming together at some point now he's activated this campaign arm the -- FA to.
-- a grassroots effort to try to go to the outside and and get people activated to pressure lawmakers on the inside.
Will that make a difference.
Doubt it actually and this isn't Ronald Reagan went 60% of emotion is real action for -- about what you -- percent of the vote he wanted to clear.
Victory I'm not taking anything away from but it's not -- a -- country sort of is overwhelmingly on his side on.
All of these issues and I do think the way he has got the draw was issue that he didn't expect to deal with first he put it first understandably -- -- after new talent.
To have -- do -- he didn't privately meet.
With Republicans including Republican moderates there -- plenty of Republicans who were a little in between the most hardline Second Amendment position.
And president Obama's position on gun control and if you were Lyndon Johnson or I would say Bill Clinton you would have private meetings rapper master chief of staff from the -- -- -- -- the White House.
-- those Republican members of congress and what we do here what we agree on what we'll have to fight at some things none of that.
They have this task force is entirely in testimony -- people on -- -- basically generate comes at a tournament is and they argue.
And then he announces his got confused he does -- executive orders and s.'s list of legislation so there's not much evidence that neither wants to war maybe knows how to.
Try to -- Republicans.
