Good morning.

All right -- you're going to be a new member of the Budget Committee have you heard anything about this rumor that as some Republicans want to say hey you guys won't get a paycheck.

Unless you come to the table and figure out what America want to get down to business and do.

Well it's my understanding that coming out of the recent Republican issues conference.

That this proposal was discussed them possibly will be presented as early as tomorrow.

Now I understand the sentiment behind no budget no pay -- a member of the New York State Legislature for six years.

And if we did not pass a budget on time.

Our pay was withheld in fact in 2010.

It was with helpful more than four and a half months and then that said in terms of the United States congress it appears that the 27 amendment.

Does not permit congress to Alter its pay in the midst of a current session.

We just started the 113 congress effectively meaning that we would not be able to Alter our pay.

-- wouldn't be able to take effect until 2000 at fifteen I so I think that even if this is presented it would render it meaningless in terms of the effect that it's intended to have.

Well two things at some people were a little outrage from the president wanted to actually increase the pay of congress said before the end of the year when.

The approval rating is somehow somewhere in -- in the teens are lower.

But but my question to you is when you're here in New York did that work can incentivize people to come together -- -- -- weren't getting a paycheck.

Well I don't necessarily think that it's the right incentive.

We want people on both sides of the aisle Republicans and Democrats to bring -- ideals to the table.

-- different perspectives.

Advance what they think is in the best interest of the people they've been elected to represent.

And then negotiate from that standpoint of trying to find common ground if you've got individual legislators who have driven by -- own sense of personal security.

Based on whether they'll be able to pay their bills on time they may abandon some of the perspectives that they said otherwise you're using to drive them.

To get things done for the.

SharePoint but let's see what the American people think right now here's a Fox News poll the vast majority say government spending out of control.

Look at that 83%.

There's not a pull out there that says this that they should read -- and raise the debt limit again.

In congress only after major cuts happened for 69%.

So obviously congressman -- didn't not just Republicans agreeing with that but a significant portion of Democrats to get up to 69%.

When you say about that.

Well I think -- two points -- one as a relates to the debt ceiling.

It's not a forward looking vehicle that authorizes the president of the congress to spend additional money it's a backward looking vehicle.

That authorizes us to pay the bills that we've already incurred.

Now as -- relates to the spending issue that we have clearly.

We have to figure out a way to make sure that the programs that are important to us both on the domestic.

Spending side the military side.

That a vital to the American people are sustainable.

In a fiscally responsible way I think the American people -- right to be concerned.

And hopefully to congress moving forward we can find common ground both sides of the aisle come together and do what's right to make saw that.

Not just this generation what our children and our grandchildren and continue to experience American prosperity.
