A nation and a capital in the throes of an almost unprecedented partisan divide came together today at least for awhile.
The beauty and the grandeur of our republic -- peaceful transfer of power in this case continuing.
With the same administration president Barack Obama publicly began his second term swearing his allegiance to the constitution.
And imploring the battling ideologies that split Washington to find common ground but what he wants that common ground to look like.
Is another matter he laid out a very progressive agenda.

For President Obama there were plenty of differences from four years ago he's -- at the weather warmer the crowd's smaller.
And the oath of office had no big slip -- I -- -- Obama solemnly swear at this time he was more aggressive in using his inaugural address.
To reprise the central message of his campaign.
Making clear he believes he has a mandate.

Understand that our country cannot succeed won a shrinking few.

The nation's first African American president happen to be sworn in for a second term on the Martin Luther King Jr.

Could survive half slave and half -- Casting himself in the mold of those great civil rights leaders he vowed action on a series of issues from climate change to immigration reform.

Brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law at a time when debt and deficits are front and center he offered a vigorous defense of entitlement programs.
We must make the hard choices to reduce the cost of health care and the size of our deficit.

As the president gets that to sell this agenda in his state of the union next month it's worth noting that Gallup is out today with -- Average of his approval ratings.
Throughout his first term and he's got that third worst numbers since world war -- only better than.
Carter and Ford but also worth noting that after the president it was.
Outrageous that -- more Reagan and Clinton meeting two guys -- troubles of their second terms but also got a lot done right.
