Well I bet there's something that you don't know about Lance Armstrong and me.

Yeah no kidding we were together on a panel wants to talk about preventative health care.

But maybe even more importantly we ran the New York marathon together in 2006.

He finished in under three hours.

I finished in under three days.

Well my performance wasn't that bad and I did finish the 26 point two mile adventure.

But about the only time I saw Lance was at the start we were lined up near each other and then I saw his -- -- fade into the distance in front of me.

But now you know I kind of feel better about the whole thing.

Since it took me five hours it's pretty evident that I wasn't using performance enhancing drugs.

He did.

But this week he's having to apologize.

And beg forgiveness for all the athletic accomplishments that turned out to be the result of cheating.

Seven Tour de France titles gone millions of dollars -- income from sponsorships.

Our reputation for being an inspiring story of having beaten cancer to achieve unparalleled success.

You see his reputation went from hero to zero super star to fallen star victorious to villain.

It was bad that he cheated it was worse that he lied about it it was worse still.

That he fought so viciously in court all those who told the truth.

By his share power and I'm limited funds to hire a room full of lawyers.

He destroyed the reputation wise in careers of many who once were his friends.

His was once a great American tale of triumph.

Now just another tragedy of someone who thought he was too big to fail too big to follow the rules too big to be accountable.

It's been the same with Tiger Woods and John Edwards Eliot Spitzer and many others from sports entertainment.

Big business and politics.

In the frailty of the human condition.

None of -- are truly righteous but there's something especially.

Off putting about those who are self righteous while being on righteous.

And maybe that's what makes the Lance Armstrong failure so disgusting.

He didn't just cheat.

We could have forgiven him for that but he built an entire narrative and wife and supposedly good works for charity all on a lie.

When I hear people say our kids need to do better in math and science and history are the arts I don't disagree with that.

But I hope.

That if we teach our children to be Smart but not honest if their minds are filled with information but their souls.

Lack integrity and honor.

If they succeeded being great athletes but self senator's self serving jerks.

It's not just that our kids failed us.

It's that we.

Failed then it.
