Are taking action to try to get some leverage in the fight over the debt limit.

How is this speech what did you think.

There's absolutely.

Terrific I think the president disregarded body labels.

And they ended up ten.

Okay.

An impression.

On people that really believe that America should be the vision that he laid out.

An old so in the second term I think it's abundantly clear.

This attitude of bypassing.

The Republicans -- going to the American people.

For all practical purpose really did work.

Because when he started out the last time he was swollen and before yesterday.

The Republicans seemed pretty united in saying that their mission was to see that he would not get reelected.

But he -- it wasn't a mandate but -- there was a significant victory.

As the American people smoke beyond the -- labels I do hope and believe that this will happen again.

Now the president was wearing -- government has later in the show America presents very ambitious.

In what he thought he could do.

Or what he might be able to do.

Talking about.

What -- what Democrats -- marriage equality.

He talked about that he talked about all sorts of things green energy initiatives spending money on that kind of stuff.

That's that's a pretty that's a pretty tall order when right now congress can even do basic stuff.

It did was it over ambitious.

Well that depends on what the American people want and certainly I would think that a lot of people think this ambitious knowing that -- Leave the republicans' position was their victory was just stopping the president.

And stopping job creation and stop being having America be perceived as the most credible nation in the world to invest then.

As relates imposition on a debt ceiling and so what I truly believe is that.

Most people want jobs at a better life for themselves and -- kids and their families and to reserve the area and have all Americans whether they're black why you go to.

OK a straight to have a battle if in this great country.

And to treat immigrants like immigrants and people were treated and that is -- a -- No legal opportunity.

To become citizens.

And so I think it's what he said it was what most people Republican -- Democrats truly believe.

Not a handful of people.

That seemed to dominate.

What the Republicans position as.

And if he can't overlook combat by going to the American people I'm certainly -- in the congress Republican and Democrats.

-- -- so.

Now your Republican rather endure your colleagues on the other side of the aisle today are gonna make a proposal on the debt limit.

And they're going to say it sounds like they're they are united in this.

Let's extend the debt ceiling for four months.

And get through the things that are ahead like the V continuing resolution operating the government and like the automatic cuts in this sequester that was part of the last.

Debt ceiling deal.

What do you say to that.

While I say that republics is at long last is backing off.

Using the debt ceiling in order to just stick ambush and to hold -- to president's program.

That doesn't mean that sequestration and concurrent resolution won't give them another opportunity to discuss and to debate this spending.

But what we have to do before we just talk about spending is get the economy back -- people are working.

This -- the best way you know world.

To reduce the deficit this increase their revenue decreased productivity and we increased competition.

And you can't do when they refused to increase the opportunity for people to have work.

This is especially so when -- interceptions pulling up caught.

And that's the presence pointed out the environment is something that we have to deal with.

In addition to protecting the planet and protect in the quality of life it's jobs jobs jobs after that.

We can deal with the rest of the problems that would deal with themselves really.

Well let me tell you that's what the Americans are talking about.

The whole idea that they kids are not gonna do as well as they have people losing their homes and jobs and they hope for the future.

Reelection to a victory.

And not catering to the handful of rich people.

But the middle class and those who want to become a blood in the middle class and make no mistake about it that is the Obama vision.

And that's why he was reelected.

And John's is a plot of some vinyl in this country so I don't know how much more he has to say about it.

But every person who's been in the middle class.

Feels insecure would that.

And every person that's in poverty should have hopes that they can get out of it can become anything they want to be in this great country about us.

Have the coronation of the king or queen we had when somebody gets arrested or whatever yeah that is that this is our opportunity to have all the pageantry have all the the trappings of democracy to front and center in Washington and you know no matter who booed as Republican Democrat I think there is a bipartisan sentiment -- -- Yesterday it was the -- guys the or that I guess those are -- nets that they're -- -- those guys that's serious but the spencers pursued and it's that cold.

Says Obama basically told the Republicans to something that I'm not going to -- and -- didn't say it could use ask tricks two blank off.

I'm going to do what I want and the only way you can -- is by the courts.

The president did -- lay down a very bold.

And he did not you know the Lincoln set the standard and his second inaugural that a lot of people try to imitate with malice towards none and charity for all his mind up are once the president said we have a long way to go before we get to -- -- And Chris this was a very partisan inaugural speech and was almost as if he took advantage of the part of the bipartisan nature of Republicans I want to criticize the president.

Offer some real red meat.

Including some Lulu -- he delivered on the campaign -- that he even made a direct reference to -- -- speakers -- makers like in rejecting him during his inaugural speech that's -- we usually -- at least in recent history with these with these bipartisan inaugural addresses and I think it shows that we're going to be in for a very partisan very -- next couple of years.

Just not only knows a lot about politics but he doesn't talk about that segment which is my power play for today.

Headlined emboldened Obama -- stage -- nasty fights ahead and he did and we'll talk about it so stick around.

A million dollars of spending cuts for -- for every bit of revenue raised.

Is now out the window at least for the next several months they don't think it's politically productive to have a messy fight over the debt ceiling -- there -- other things they.

Definitely like the sequestration that they feel is more politically advantageous they look at the national polls and they in the the public wants to see some kind of compromise they -- -- see at least some attempts at bipartisanship.

Not likely still but Republicans don't think that that debt -- -- -- as potent as it once was.

Well and the other thing of course is that for for the Republicans they know that.

If you shut down the government over continuing resolution.

That is different that has different consequences -- shutting down the government over the debt -- because if you shut down on the debt ceiling.

President Obama has all the cards on that one and you get into full faith and credit states and the Democrats say default.

If you do it on the continuing resolutions is to shut it.

And Republicans learned their lessons from the ninety's when they realize you can't not necessarily -- from one body of congress and just haven't controlled house majority.

And I think you'll be seeing much more emphasis on blocking some of Obama's initiatives that climate change gun control and an immigration.

Maybe not so much from immigration -- -- so that's going to be.

Key issue in the next next few months but they're gonna.

You realize that they can't facilitate.

Legislation they're going to be more the opposition party the loyal opposition from -- they got.

They have -- -- to be part of the debate like they're doing today right they have to have active legislation and NB putting things forward for they're gonna get ruled by the senate like they did.

On the deal for the fiscal class and they -- on hurricanes and.

I think need to show -- contrast the need to show that there.

They have an alternative policy.

Agenda.

Which we haven't heard too much about we've heard about they're they're brainstorming Powell to strategize in the wake of the fiscal but the -- we haven't heard the alternative Republican agenda and in Newt Gingrich like -- -- as we saw in the mid ninety's I think that's something to be well advised to do.

Especially given that the addition.

The scope of the President Obama was on second term agenda as he laid -- in -- -- We will breaking news here you're breaking news in an explosion -- that's right watching.

But the governor.

Nebraska has approved.

The Keystone Pipeline of the most controversial part of the keystone XL pipeline.

Which brings which would bring oil from the tar sands of Alberta and western Canada.

Down all the way to the gulf.

Of Mexico where it could be refined and turned into gasoline.

That.

Runs through Nebraska that part of it -- most sense has wetlands and there's little animals things and people were concerned.

And the governor of Nebraska not only -- -- approved it but has sent a letter to the president that says now go.

We know that the prime minister of Canada.

And we know that labor groups and other.

You're gonna ratchet up the pressure on this.

How does that comport with the president's statement yesterday that we have -- using alternative fuels or we're going to kill ourselves with giant storms and -- Chris is a very fascinating power play political play by the governor the governor expressed.

There has been you talk to that the folks on the on the on the Energy Department -- political appointees from the president.

Who openly discussed in the wake of that inaugural of overturning the keystone decision of of going backwards.

On -- -- pipeline or or or resisting it further.

So governor the governor -- is is really put put in that.

Cards on the table -- force in the White House to make a stand the president said that once all this bureaucratic mumbo Jumbo was dealt with.

After the election he would facilitate its its construction he would move -- all along.

If he doesn't do that.

You'll see that his words his rhetoric on climate change -- rhetoric on energy regulation.

It is very serious he's he's going to be a much more regular is gonna try to impose many regulations as possible -- -- -- executive orders are executive control.

Then then then that you'll see if you -- if you can't have cap and trade you can have the -- you can have a similar net effect actually be a similar -- -- -- -- carbon tax.

If you basically have enough regulatory burden that fossil fuels become too too hard -- across the finish line.

The and remember this Internet -- it is -- is poignant here.

While the complaint from environmentalists initially about the prize funds for the construction of the pipeline itself the real complaint the underlined -- -- that would lower gas prices.

And not.

The hope among groups like the Sierra Club and others is that higher gasoline costs will discourage driving.

And lessen the amount of carbon in the -- In the political argument from Obama's directly during the campaign.

Was that the governor really Republican governor of Nebraska was supposed to -- -- in in which it was a little bit simplistic but right now he is for -- now he is.

The affiliated construction trades and other unions that they think that the good old governor has the right idea.

You know -- fear but fear itself there about lofty goals this is not a state of the union laundry list of things that we need to accomplish in the next year.

It's an aspiration -- speech and I think it was a good speech -- -- look at the guy ran as a progressive whether you like it or not he ran.

As a progressive he ran on progress -- issues the voters vindicated that decision by electing him to second term and now he's giving a speech he's given.

Shouldn't be surprised anybody I -- I know there's a lot of grumbling from some quarters about why was he talking about.

Issue that -- -- compromise with the Republicans on -- all of the voters have spoken and an ending his perspective is.

I ran I didn't run away these issues an election people said OK great we'll give you another opportunity to get them through and that's -- on the speech that you saw.

So I'm going to be Michelle self -- yet again -- -- I think it's important that you read this power play Internet because.

This is as president would say the framing -- and that I think we'll put things in some good perspective for you and my point today -- -- for the president to get to the ask operational parts.

And I think the Republicans it helps them develop their strategy a little more saying.

To remember it today second -- -- his -- -- Across cigarette sticks in your -- when the person of the other party gets up there and he's got all the trumpets and he's talking about all that gay marriage or.

Iraq War whatever it is that he's document that you hate it sticks in your -- and you know what.

That's good because what it may do if you -- partisan is make -- work harder.

It may make you figure out that you've got to work harder next time be a better campaign or be a better candidate be whatever you need to -- to win.

And that's what Democrats took away they figured it out.

And they racked up some impressive victories.

This leads to your third point -- -- point is with malice towards -- here's the deal.

Republicans should remember that next they win next time they -- and they have inauguration day to act with kindness and grace in charity.

To their opponent is they're having a lousy day and Democrats should do the same Republicans just sort of went -- a teacher faces.
