Well as a growing number of sheriffs across this country warned that they may not enforce new gun rules -- they are past.

Former President Bill Clinton is sharing a warning for Democrats about the political dangers of mocking Second Amendment supporters.

And it computers are former president may not exactly be shoulder to shoulder with our current president on this issue.

Joining me now Lars Larson a syndicated radio host the second -- advocate and Sally Kohn who's a political commentator and Fox News -- -- Bill Clinton stands up to a group of democratic donors and others.

And says on Saturday do not patronize the passionate supporters of your opponents by looking down your noses of them.

A lot of these people live in a world very different from the world lived in by the people proposing these things I know because -- come from this world.

Our closer with UN is -- you had talked about how.

You know in the in the big cities.

There is a different perception of guns than there is.

In the heartland of America -- many other places in the big cities they're thought to be held an urban centers and you think of guns many people do is something that could be used to hurt you in your family.

An in that sort of heartland of America that that -- something to protect you when your family and something that the family heirloom -- been your family for generations.

Well the only thing I disagree with -- on on that -- -- is that in big cities Smart people understand that if you have a gun you can protect yourself from the criminals and their famous examples from New York for example.

Of the ladies and older lady.

Who owned a pistol illegally and protected yourself -- that when somebody assault a very shot she shot the man.

And then they -- the lady for having the gun while the assault or ran away and as for patronizing.

Bill Clinton tells his fellow Democrats don't patronize let me get this straight the horny hick from Arkansas is warning Democrats that they don't you don't.

And -- I'm at it and and that the dumb hicks don't wanna be relieved of their guns so be careful what you say to them this guys is patronizing is the day is long.

You can agree with what he's not your -- I feel what -- All he's saying is don't don't tell them you're gonna take their guns because they'll take your seat away from you in congress which I think is accurate.

But it's a very patronizing attitude because he says he used to be -- -- from Arkansas and he is no longer because he's so worldly but he now understands all this.

He's right and is warning but he should be count you get -- these terms Americans value of their liberties and they may like -- Clinton and fission and the president says about it only got left in their lives how patronizing is that.

He did say that he -- a lot of these people all it is there hunting and their fishing.

Or they're living in a place he said where they don't have much police presence and that he says or they've been listening this stuff for so long that they believe it all.

Sally doesn't sell like he's really squared up with -- Obama on this because I'll I'll just leave you one other quote.

He said he left these democratic donors with a warning.

That they may be defeated if they choose to stand what Barack Obama said don't be self congratulatory about how -- you're being for this gun control push.

The only brave people are the ones are gonna lose their jobs if they vote with you.

Yeah I mean look the president was obviously speaking off the -- but -- I I I heard his warning very differently.

We know that the kinds of very common sense gun violence prevention.

Laws and regulations that the president's proposing.

-- technology supported by a majority of Americans.

But supported by a majority of gun owners and incidentally it's a majority a strong majority of NRA members as well.

I think President Clinton was simply saying to Democrats and all of us.

Look don't think there's this -- then.

Them guns -- safety dynamic and there isn't responsible gun owners.

One to see safety they want to see background checks and -- whole gun show loopholes closed.

And we shouldn't come to send an assumed that they don't.

You -- that but he may have to go for this let me just respond that negated a chance because he suitable further than that those tell -- he even spoke to the fact that these polls some of them.

Show support for some of these measures and said that his group.

It's not the public support that matters it's how strongly people feel about the issue quell all these polls that you see seeing the public is for us and all these issues.

They're meaningless if they're not voting issues who's really truly motivated to show up and vote.

Based on gun control or our gun rights and he seems to think it is the gun rights people who have the stronger motivation go -- alerts.

-- I gotta tell -- love having Sally on my radio show.

But she's wrong about one thing because she leaves -- the polls that the polls also -- -- Washington Post -- a week ago said that most of those people who say -- for those rules also admit that they're not gonna change that dynamic of these mass shootings and -- Americans who -- responsible with -- whether they don't know we're not understand -- rules on a piece of -- do not keep anybody from murdering innocents in this country and everyone who's -- of the president's proposals -- those -- out of -- Biden -- that meant for -- met for all of a month.

Admit that none of those changes would have done a darn thing about Aurora Colorado or sandy -- elementary or any of the other shootings that have happened and that's what's demeaning to suggest to Americans we're gonna take away your liberties we're gonna further infringe on your ability to own a gun -- type of -- a particular type of gun.

And we know that is not going to change the murders of Americans that happen.

I think -- -- -- strike that struck us I was interesting about don't patronize your opposition because they seem to have you know.

Heartfelt beliefs on this issue.

President Obama's been criticized for not getting that when we went to break we played sound -- of him saying all the only reason you're seeing these long lines at for the gun stores right -- because.

People are try to gin up.

Their own ratings are their own profits.

I mean.

President Clinton.

I presume is that try to do that he.

There are people who really genuinely believe that this is an infringement on their constitutional rights and he -- and does the left risk alienate that not just the -- -- gun control people.

By -- -- acknowledging that that's a real heartfelt belief.

I mean look I I come from -- country right we got the first day of hunting season off when I was a kid so I very much where -- stand.

Pennsylvania.

That so I very much understand the culture that president up -- President Clinton excuse me was.

Are particularly -- in tactically speaking about.

Look at pretty condescending.

To challenge large back just in just the American people that the ideals that they support the common sense.

Gun safety laws that they support.

Aren't going to work.

I mean we already have laws in place that fortunately do you make some of these things not as bad as they could be we do restrict the ability of dangerous people may get dangerous weapons.

But I'm -- if you're on terrorist watch list.

You shouldn't you can't go to a plane but -- ten -- a gun that doesn't make sense in American people agree.

At at I don't see that as an infringement on liberties and and frankly neither did Antonin Scalia who said.

That we can -- -- -- I was just legally there's no question that that the second in the second that is not absolute and you can absolutely no it's not right -- this is the political debate about whether we should.

And weather will do anything I got to leave it that my apologies got to run thank you both good discussion thank you pleasure -- -- thank.
