Plow through tough times in many ways some are forced into a career changes they may never seen coming we are talking today to -- Kilmer -- -- And Brent -- about their farm lifestyle brand and how they became a -- men boys what you Josh and -- and thank you so much for coming and sharing your story with that -- -- thanks for having us and at a you know this is this is something that a lot of people had had to deal with back in 2008 during the height of the recession ended 2009 tell us your story.

Well we -- -- TCU guys leaving here in New York City had great big jobs.

Big enough that we -- have a week in place in upstate New York.

So we bought the place in 2008 and then by the end of 2008 we both lost -- jobs in the city are stuck with a farm in a big mortgage and and no money coming in so we had to find a way to make that farm profitable.

And -- local goat farmer was losing his farm asked if he can bring his goods to our farm to graze.

And we -- sure why not can.

-- -- that's how we started our business.

Somehow that it -- -- this that you guys have got cheese you've got beauty products what else.

Yeah we do you gardening products with William Sonoma -- we -- our beauty products he rekindle an apology.

And really all over the world on bigger than -- farm it's not just -- -- -- products but we've also found other artisan crafts people in our area and upstate new York and helped them brand there.

Their goods and crafts and we also honored under one brand.

Well what advice do you have for people who are just launching companies because.

And 2008 -- wasn't very long ago and to be in big companies like an apology William Sonoma I mean.

-- yes.

I mean.

We believe in you can turn your passion to profit that's I mean we re really did believe that we're living proof that.

That -- the hard part is you have to do the work and you -- just love what you do you have to love what you do.

And be a good business person the same time.

And if you're not a good business person you have to find someone who can do this business aspects of the job for you -- if you're not good at accounting cannot -- -- hiring.

He'd find someone who can do that now for sleeper -- we kind of split very evenly about what -- and we're good at.

That you if you return your passion to -- you have to have someone there who can help you do that.

And because you guys were successful that in your track records though we're not in a beauty products they weren't very different things so so how did you prove yourself to big companies like us.

Well you you actually said I was a position -- -- -- to Martha Stewart Josh has been an advertising in his bestselling author -- neither has had experience running ago former starting beauty company and also say they drive right.

It's and it ended thing is is that we we had a criteria for developing the very best products we could -- now we go out to companies everybody knows that between -- -- products are the best in class.

And -- even I mean that we believe in our products and what we're doing him in the past and -- and I think that shows on the go find partners okay and your reputation has just you know.

And snowballed.

-- -- on the cooking channel talk about that.

That's right well we at first our our web site talking about live from the farm what we're doing to try to grow our business.

And down discovery was the first to pick up on our arch our business and starter circle but that was beaten boys which is now moved -- -- cooking channel.

And has launched a whole new area the cup.

Lot of you are wary of reality television and -- you know is it scary -- it and make us look bad we embrace that we said hey this is our chance to have a thirty minute.

Commercial for ourselves our brand and our village and end on TV every week has really commercials -- -- -- -- far right that I learned a lot from working to -- I think he's -- lights -- and I do it again if you guys at home would like to.
