Welcome back to on the Honda foxnews.com live I'm Jonathan -- we all -- The terrible damage done by hurricane sandy here in the north east.

Late last year we've obviously all remember witnessing the appalling damage done by Hurricane Katrina down -- -- so what do we do to try to -- -- -- happening again what do we do to improve construction well.

-- small business spotlight today is all about a company that is doing exactly that.

Ocean safe Vincent bats Elise is that CEO of -- safe should safest -- sip.

Dot com is the website and that is correct I'm here to tell us -- that we want what exactly you're trying to do.

Okay.

Personal thank you for having us here.

-- safe is a global New York based company that has high performance green building systems and the system.

He's utilizing so no we don't let a couple of days tea here to explain what Walt we're looking at as a as -- goes a camera with a system utilizes what we called Rick.

Structural insulated panels.

And those are scheme to steal or magnesium -- Surrounding an insulated core which is either urethane or polystyrene.

They're very strong they're very energy efficient and the structure.

Takes the external and new load bearing walls and the roof and completes the building and it.

So it it it essentially makes these building units much stronger much more able to withstand the kind of battering they take in the storms that we see.

Correct.

These panels have been tested and I'm I'm lost I'm ophthalmologist by the way Phil and my background being scientific I wanted to make sure we could substantiate everything that we claimed we can do -- -- these panels are very energy efficient.

With our values up to sixty.

We have wind in termite.

Protection wind up to 160 miles an hour mold resistant to pre -- and he built very quickly.

-- Don't want what -- you want to go from being an ophthalmologist to be -- Somebody who's trying to save buildings in these storms in their -- line.

-- that's a very good question the I'm a voter who's not been a voter for my whole life and I'm a Florida voter.

And I got to witness firsthand the damage in the devastation from the hurricanes Florida.

And where I -- the stick and the for buildings collapse.

The insulated refrigerator boxes seemed to stand up top and I sit I -- why is that.

So with my two partners we put together for the company ocean safe food we engage some engineers and architects and we started designing residential -- -- is this is about eight years ago right.

And then I was has business going.

Wonderful we're doing wonderfully and the first point of our challenges were educating people -- a new building system.

But when Katrina hit we were increased very very quickly.

With our systems and as a result of Katrina we got involved with Iraq.

With South Africa I have the product approved.

Were both of those places we know old ones that you was particularly someone like Iraq -- haven't had -- after the war they need house's right housing and needed housing and they need -- something that was energy efficient.

And these homes or so this isn't.

Just about storms this this is a bad that you can build this is not.

Somebody -- -- look at this and say I want my eight home to be storm proof but if they just wanted to home that is more energy efficient this is the right building material as well.

That is correct you what happened in the Bahamas for instance I was in the Bahamas last week with the prime minister.

They have an energy problem in the Bahamas aside from the hurricane issues -- it.

Right now -- kilowatt hours are about 46 cents a kilowatt hour which is very very expensive but we can cut those down to succeed by sixty or 70%.

Less than it was on a -- with personnel the same thing they they need to have energy efficiency.

What about the the cost of building a home differences they want to build a three -- bedroom home with these materials rather -- more traditional materials.

What's the cost differential is a lot more expensive.

It's within 10% of the differential but you have to then factoring that we can build -- a three or four bedroom home in less than three weeks turnkey.

We talk about the energy efficiency which is an annuity that's forever.

We're looking at no waste it's a green product so we're not killing the environment.

And it's.

It it cost actually course comes down to probably thirty or 40% less when you put all those practicing while.

And it did the business -- -- -- you're telling me you're at your headquarters out here -- new Long Island right and then you your -- -- new ones as well.

We're in New Orleans and -- North Carolina right we -- right now knowing full time people we have ten part time people.

And that we've just -- engaged with.

-- global transport in North Carolina will we're we're gonna have 303 employees while these will be -- a lot of expects yes we will be factory there the global transport it's gonna runway.

They have rail and road -- -- very very good spot for us very and we have a wonderful piece of employees from the ex military people live there and wounded warriors foundation roll the ball perfect.

-- -- you -- you talk about them being energy efficient being storm resistant.

I want an advocate can -- help -- is he going to stand up bad in in a tornado -- is could these be deployed throughout the -- tornado Alley.

If you very much so the -- -- -- win tested for greater than a 160 miles now.

I don't -- recalled the the story last year where there are tornado hit the midwest.

And that the people were in a 7-Eleven and they jumped into the refrigerator box right in the one fellow had his.

By phone and he took pictures and they were tossed and turned the point people inside the box but when the storm was over they got out and everything was crumbled around them and they ruled safe while it's basically the same technology.

It's great technology and anybody wants to find out more about it as I said can go to ocean to -- -- sit.

Dot com there's a web site on -- screen now.

I've been some Vasily says CEO of -- say it's a wonderful story a great product and now the very best of luck to you it'll save lives thank you -- have a -- All right thank you very much of it --
