The Republican National Committee holding its first winter meeting of the year.
And -- to -- here in Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal held little back when his.
With his sharp words -- Republicans last night urging his own party he stands.
To rethink their arguments against Democrats and its appeal to voters.
We've got to stop being the stupid party.
And a -- this time for a new Republican Party that talks like adults it's time -- -- articulate our clients and our visions for America in real terms.
It's no secret we had a number Republicans that damaged the brand this year with -- -- and bizarre comments I'm here to say we had enough of that.
While chief political correspondent Carl Cameron is in the hard -- -- Charlotte, North Carolina looks like would have taken a long look now at at the party what are you hearing there -- It's a rigorous self appraisal of good hard look in the mirror for Republicans and they're being very candid about the problems that they face in the 2012 elections in the challenges that they have to overcome if they -- -- be competitive in elections in the future.
The chairman of the party -- -- this is likely to get reelected chairman today.
And last night Bobby Jindal.
That made it very clear that the party has to be tough on itself tough love to recover from the defeats of last year.
And I've had a chance to talk to rights previously.
Soon to be reelected chairman and both of them were very very tough trying to send a message to members that they have to get not only the message but the tone in the presentation.
Back in order listen.
Treating people with dignity and respect this -- foremost.
I think -- do you lose more voters by song.
Treatment dignity and respect how you communicate but a couple idiotic comments from a couple candidates.
Can change that the flavor.
Of how a particular party is seen.
We've got to stop insulting the intelligence of voters.
We needed lost the smarts of the American people.
We've got to stop talking down than we've got to stop dumbing down our ideas and start producing everything the mindless slogans and tag -- for 32 idea.
We messed up the courage of our convictions our principles we must be willing to provide details describing our views.
It boils down in short the Republicans arguing that conservative principles need to be better articulated and advocated and one of the ways they can do that is by not getting caught up in what a lot of people think its hostile rhetoric focusing on what conservatives and conservatism can do.
To advance the country.
And it was interesting to us like -- -- at a point of saying that Washington is obsessed with heroes too much fixation he said.
On the budget in the deficit saying that that's an important thing to -- to be dealt with the government matters but it's all on democratic terms.
And Republicans aren't in favor of growing government and a discussion of the debt is always about government and therefore more favorable for the left.
Bill and there are those and you'll know that argue against that I think it's it's just the ground game that that did -- November.
And that has to be improved uncertain they'll address that to -- Very very aggressively digital campaign and not waiting as they did in -- 2012 cycle to the last minute to start a ground game but basically starting it now for four years from now -- thank you Carl Carl Cameron live in Charlotte, North Carolina.
