A fair and balanced debate Republican congressman marlin Stutzman and democratic congresswoman Loretta Sanchez welcome -- -- -- -- and thank you good morning -- congresswoman I'll start with -- where do you stand on this debate.

Well I have for probably not the last 45 years put forward a bill that says that there should be equality and opportunity for women in the military.

We have seen over the last eleven years women in both the rock -- -- a stand.

In many cases.

There is no front line in these battles and they've proven themselves.

Where he had been there they -- combat and yet they haven't received the recognition for it.

And when you're out commander.

And you need to get.

A mission done what we've seen in Iraq and -- Afghanistan.

Is that they have chosen the best sold her the best marine that they needed in whatever position they had in some cases.

That hasn't been women and so.

They've got the experience numbness and they're the ones that are saying hey you know let me choose who I need in that unit to get the mission done.

And this will allow that it's happening.

But this.

Allow it to be more open and more -- than.

-- -- -- -- I agree with within much who has been set already with Martha -- -- earlier.

And with -- Sanchez as well that you know this comes down to capability and about making sure that our military is fully capable and is ready.

To fight the enemy that the end of the day that's what our military is for.

And in many cases we do have women already on the front line you know there's that the lines are blurred in a lot of cases and when you're driving down the road and Afghanistan.

You may all of a sudden fall in the front line and so I think it's very important that we give.

All of our soldiers men or women the -- ability the tools that they need to be able to fight the enemy.

And I guess what's surprising about this is that it's already happening.

And in so many cases.

That why the president is bringing this forward and talking about it rather than talking about a lot of the other important domestic issues is is interesting and kind of surprising.

All right -- -- you -- you wanna on another topic that we have found that we want both of you to be able to address is well we've just gotten word that president.

-- in Egypt is going to address the nation tonight.

-- this week there's been some controversy over the fact that we are now sending F sixteens over under a deal that was made with then President Hosni Mubarak back -- 2010.

Is -- our best move right now well.

You know again I mean this is confusing in a lot of ways from what the president's agenda is what is the president's goal.

In the Middle East what's the president's goals throughout the world with the fight on terrorism.

And and I think that and there are so -- mixed messages that it's hard to understand what is the strategy here how are we going to control.

Terrorism whether it's in Afghanistan whether it's in Middle East whether it's in Iran and into you know to be sending.

Two to a sixteen into the Middle East at this time.

Again sends a message are we going to lead or are we going to lead from behind.

And congresswoman -- I'll bring you -- on this as well because there are those who say hey if we copied Egypt at this point.

We're gonna cut off an important relationship.

Well you know this is just not a but hey this is about -- Some very sophisticated military weapons systems.

In on the hands of -- government at this particular at point that we're not really sure.

How effective they are going to be I mean.

It is also the Congress's fault it's not just the president -- following through on you.

What was in place for Egypt before it's also the congress hasn't had.

We haven't sat down because we've been.

Looking at domestic issues we haven't spoken to each other we haven't discussed.

What is really happening in Egypt how can we be more effective is this the leader.

That we can work with in some cases he has helped us in some cases he's been pretty -- -- fair about.

Issues going on.

That we look at the people need -- -- -- some are -- things are not so it's -- it's a changing dynamic but it's also a piece that the congress needs to take up.

To be more effective it -- in also paint a picture of what our policies are because ultimately.

Sales of weapons and things can be stopped by the United States congress I think with -- step back it's important even domestic issues.

But many of us in the congress -- -- You don't work overtime if that is the case or double time.

And say what our policies going to be with respect to Egypt how can we be more affected how can we ensure.

That one of the largest populations.

That traditionally again.

What if the west on many issues continues in this new form of government to still be with the west if it it's also our responsibility I would say to -- -- well we know that you have a look at what issues under played well the new domestically and internationally congresswoman Sanchez congressman -- and thank you both for your time.
