The White House now says it does not believe reports that Iran sent a monkey in the space.

But the White House make it -- all this may be a sign that the rogue nation has improved its launch technology.

Which it could potentially use according to the -- for nuclear warheads out this state TV video out of Iran look at this.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- I guess -- and running amok here I don't know.

The running news agency reported teams strap that animal inside a rocket that ultimately reached a height of 72 miles and that the animal.

Returned safely somehow -- we don't know -- We do not know -- his report is true.

If it is true when this all may have happened is beyond us or the location of the alleged launch site don't know any of that.

Of course the United States previously used monkeys in the early days of the space race with the Soviet Union in -- The United States and a monkey to Iraq two of space in 1950s -- -- -- runs have accomplished this they've made it to the air of black and white.

But Iran has given few details about its own space plans and if possible link to ballistic missiles.

The Islamic republic claims its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.

Joining us now Brian -- made technical advisor for the secure world foundation which seeks peaceful uses of outer space.

Captain -- previously served nine years in the united states air force working in space and ballistic missile operations.

Sir good afternoon thank her service and welcome.

Good afternoon -- running -- get a month into space got a home somehow we missed it didn't see the law Delaware it happened -- he got home with.

-- -- name is nothing.

Well you know I mean on one hand the US do you think US military build -- -- -- -- I'm not going to do to discount their reports but you know.

They potentially could have seen it could not have.

All right so if they got a monkey up there and they're able to use this technology what does it say big picture on important matters outside -- -- Well it could be that they did learn some things in this test that could help.

Improve their ballistic missiles in particular potentially reentry technology but I gotta say if your goal is developing something as capable of being a military -- -- weapon.

Launching -- in this space is not the most efficient way to do that.

But what they might have gotten out of this though is some propaganda value.

You know -- has put forward its science technology in particular space program.

As way of promoting it's a self within the region and internationally so you know if anything in the short term that would probably be the most value they're gonna get out of it.

From from an outsider's perspective I think it's probably important to remember that the Iraqis have allowed domestic problems.

There's this huge embargo against them there -- -- trade sanctions are there people are suffering mightily their government is not.

Very fit very favorable locally and and and they need they need to boast of a local self confidence right and that this could help that would well.

Yeah it's certainly could do that I mean it's certainly sends a methods -- of their people.

As well as the region that the regime is strong and that they do have these scientific tech now.

Accomplishments to -- to show for it you know I can't imagine the Israelis would think too highly of this monkey business.

Well I mean on one hand the Israelis RD have their own very sophisticated space launch and both missile program.

But on the other hand I think more of you know in the battle for opinions.

Within the Middle East they probably certainly don't look at this is probably a good sign no probably not.

All right good to see you sir thanks again.

You're welcome.
