Good evening I'm Bret -- for the second day in a row we began with a new plan to fix America's immigration system.

Monday a group of bipartisan senators shared their thoughts today it was president Obama's turn to unveil his proposal.

This time in glitzy Las Vegas.

Is one of these plans deserving.

Of a rolled the dice or will congress eventually cash out again.

White House correspondent Wendell Goler reports from since it.

A speech that was originally intended to pressure congress to take up immigration reform.

Republicans and Democrats seem ready to tackle this problem together.

The president stopped short of endorsing the senate plan because they'd say.

And the result as we now have eleven million people at its peak of twelve million people in this country where there weren't documented.

We can't repeat this mistake now.

The senate plan calls for the border to be further strengthened before illegal immigrants are allowed to begin the process of paying fines and taxes and coming out of the shadows.

Just like under the president's plan -- undergo background checks and go to the back of the admission line.

But White House officials say the pre conditions can't be part of a -- process that puts -- citizenship indefinitely.

Illegal immigrants who were promised reform and mr.

Obama's first -- -- this time it will happen.

And I -- ends -- it will merely be a significant change for our family.

Because we have children born here and we had a rough is that we don't let others know about our problems because we are in fear of the consequences.

Of this change will be significant for.

All of us.

Another difference with the senate plan is that mr.

Obama's proposal would extend family immigration rights to gay couples a provision -- spokesman defended the reporters aboard Air Force One.

President has long -- the American people that partners and other countries should not be paid for the people's choice between -- with the person they love.

If -- as long as the senate plan stays close to the president's principles he's happy to let congress take the lead.

They don't think Republicans will be able to sell a plan to the Latino community that mr.
