Welcome back everyone a rare weather pattern has sparked tornado watches severe storm warnings and the potential for hurricane force winds.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration storms that's -- flooding from the South -- the way to the northeast.
And tornadoes and damaging winds from eastern Texas to Chicago.
Janice Dean of the news live now from the fox weather center for SS OJD this all has to do with some of these warmer temperatures now pushing through.
Yet these are reminiscent -- temperatures that we would typically see at the end of April -- so we broke.
And 99 year old record in Chicago 63 right now the average is 31 incredible warmth.
Saint Louis 68 right now the average is 41 Birmingham seven went behind this very cold air -- that jet -- is kind of positions.
Over a low pressure system that's giving us that extra -- that we really need the atmosphere to give us the potential for severe weather.
And then as we head into Wednesday.
All of that -- shifting -- some New York up towards sixty degrees 75 in -- as -- mentioned the cold air behind that.
Bringing a several inches of snow but let's talk about the severe weather tornado watches Nina conditions are favorable for tornadoes northeast Texas although we have to look.
Joliet Illinois including Saint Louis.
8 PM central time we don't have any tornado warnings right now but we do have -- severe thunderstorm warning just a north of the Saint Louis area.
And the concern here is we're going to be dealing with the potential of severe weather in the overnight hours when people are sleeping.
So no weather radios have to be on folks if you -- anywhere from the Gulf Coast.
All the way up towards the southern Great Lakes and the we've -- this red shaded area very very.
Rare this time of year to see all of these cities in a moderate risk meaning that we think conditions are going to be favorable.
For not only -- not only damaging winds but yes long lasting destructive tornadoes and again.
As that warm air shifts eastward so does the risk for severe weather really from Florida up towards mid Atlantic including.
Washington and Pittsburgh in that area at severe risk Gretchen okay he's going to be busy days for you because I understand after we have these tornado conditions that we're gonna move on to blizzard like -- yes you know I mentioned behind this storm system very cold air so.

Heading into the latter part of the work week.
Rate down to single digits again if you can believe it and look at the snow behind this a wide swath of three to six inches.
But this blue shaded area here where we can see six to twelve maybe even.
Eighteen inches of snow in the next 48 hours so very dynamic system not only are we seeing the risk for severe weather but the risk.
