Let's talk about this hearing a little bit more with the columnist for The Washington Times Charlie hurt Charlie if you so there's a little bit of disconnect going on here between some of the politicians in Washington.

And some of the positions that they espouse about firearm.

Yeah well you know the big problem with it will move which -- always been the problem with these gun laws -- There -- a lot of things sound like a good idea when a politician says.

You know we won banning gun that that -- whose sole purpose is to is to kill large numbers of people quickly.

Well of course no one would disagree with that but then when you get down into the sort of into the weeds of what they're proposing and what they're talking about.

That's not what they're that that that those guns are not the ones they're targeting that they they catch a whole wide range of guns in that sort of net.

And so you always have to be very careful in the politicians have to be very careful because I'm sure that for some of them it's it's not just you know an attempt to sort of further political.

You know their their own political agenda in a lot of cases I think you have politicians who genuinely want to.

Do something and it's it's very well intended.

But the consequences down the line.

I don't.

Either through ignorance or or just having not study the issue carefully -- -- they don't realize.

What the consequences are when you say.

-- all clips that are over here that hold more than ten.

That there's been ten cartridges -- the -- in the New York Times even today points out the Democrats are divided.

On how to proceed on any kind of legislation here.

Yeah and and that's going to be the the really interesting thing to watch because.

The Democrats on the committee on the Judiciary Committee you're focusing almost entirely on.

-- hardware and and you know magazines and then and then the lists that would prevent certain people from.

Being able to purchase guns they're not looking at video games -- or Hollywood or anything like that but at the end of the day in the senate in in the democratic controlled senate.

I think that that that democratic initiatives and president Obama's initiatives are going to fail because they can't get enough.

Democrats to support it it's gonna given the vast majority of Republicans save one or two in the senate.

Will probably oppose a lot of these measures but their problem will be they won't be able to get.

That that that final six or seven Democrats that they're from -- Rural states mostly.

In them out west in the end -- -- Midwest they're gonna have a hard time.

Getting them to go along with any of this because they would pay a heavy price with with their voters it's it's -- -- be if it will be very -- watch that this sort of inter party.

Squabble is -- goes forward.

But clearly nobody wants to see another new town massacre is -- -- -- has there been enough of a sea change on Capitol Hill that something's gonna get done.

I don't think so because -- honestly.

What you don't have is you don't have you -- we don't have hearings going on right now.

About these violent video games they're almost like simulators for for carrying out these events.

You don't have big hearings into to some of the Hollywood -- movies that glorify this kind of violence and stuff like that and I think that until.

Everybody kind of comes together it is OK we're gonna talk about all of the problems here.

I don't I just don't see how.

You know is -- that everybody -- either side gives because clearly this you know this hearing is all about.

Finding guns to ban -- and and -- and they're just.

And that and that's where people opposed to it that the thing is even if you did it you know the argument is that it's not going to it's not going to prevent.

Future -- -- and you had to love the irony of that public service announcement with all -- Hollywood stars talking about you know you're getting rid of weapons but yet they use them in their films because it helps them make millions of dollars.

Yes it did the hypocrisy is just it's kind of you choke on it is so it it is so amazing.

Charlie hurt from The Washington Times today -- -- John thank you will continue to keep an --
