The president's pick for Defense Secretary senator Chuck Hagel now gearing up for his confirmation hearings tomorrow.

And it could get pretty contentious with one Republican senator vowing to block his confirmation even before it begins senator Lindsey Graham telling our -- Greta Van Susteren.

He first wants them main demand cable would replace outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta to testify about the big Ghazi terror attack.

I'm gonna block hagel from going -- and -- absolutely -- would we not want to understand what happened during the attack itself.

How could our sector what happened for seven hours.

Why -- they -- military assets available September 11.

Joining us now ambassador.

John Bolton former US ambassador to the United Nations and a Fox News contributor welcome great to have you here today led to be here let me get your reaction to losing -- comments what impact would that have.

Well I think he could certainly -- -- hagel nomination down and I think it reflects the frustration of a lot of people on both sides of the child that form months after the then you guys -- attack we still don't know.

The answers to important questions why request for enhanced security from the investor weren't granted what actually happened on.

That September 11 where did this story about the Mohamed video come from so I think what senator Graham is saying is look we want better answers and we've gotten so far.

Moving on now to the actual confirmation I know that you have some particular concerns.

About this particular nominee particularly on the issue you're wrong and you believe that the west weakened its case by accepting Iran -- wind and has a right.

To pursue nuclear activities are peaceful purposes and given that fact we've.

You know let go of any leverage we have going forward to impose any real.

Moves here to get them to stop.

-- this has been a mystery -- afraid for sometime because it's not only the Obama administration keeps talking about the it's it's OK for Iran to have a peaceful quote -- quote.

Nuclear power program the Bush Administration said it is well.

But the fact is under the nonproliferation.

Treaty Iran itself made a commitment.

Not to seek nuclear weapons which everybody believes they're doing.

When you breach of treaty like that you can't then claim benefits like a quote -- quote peaceful program.

Under other parts of the -- What do -- -- -- doesn't have no choice but to support the president's efforts so far basically to cajole or try to work diplomatically.

With Iran going forward to pressured them to stop.

The nuclear production.

But given its as chuck cables positions on Iran that he's expressed publicly I don't have any doubt he's -- of the same view is the administration but I think it's important.

For those who are concerned that what the administration is setting up is legitimizing.

Iran's nuclear program and thus permitting Iran to get very very close to breaking out and actually fabricating nuclear weapons or doing it in secret with us not being able to follow it.

That the threat of a nuclear Iran is ever more process.

So in essence then from your point -- are you feeling -- sanctions and diplomacy really won't work.

In the situation measure dealing with Iran that the military option still needs to be on the table and that needs to be address very directly.

Yet -- it sanctions and diplomacy are not gonna work and I haven't worked for the last ten years of effort Iran is not gonna be talked out of its nuclear weapons program.

Even though the sanctions which by the way the Obama administration opposed in terms of the congressionally imposed sanctions.

Even though they've cost Iran economically.

Very substantially there's simply no evidence whatever.

That it's impeded their nuclear weapons program and no evidence while we're on the subject that it's slowed -- run down in its support for the murderous aside regime in Syria.

So unless -- prepared to see a nuclear Iran I think.

The military option is the only one out there and I don't think -- run.

Is worried about the Obama administration because I think they see zero chance we will use force it seems like all these talks have been an exercise in considered -- -- -- to this point it's worse it's given Iran ten years to advance its nuclear weapons program and its ballistic missile program this is why the focus is now on Israel and what prime minister Netanyahu will do.

-- not always great to see anything watching this confirmation hearings very Clinton closely -- -- we look forward to hearing from Fred thank you John.
