But first to another breaking story this was breaking as we were -- preparing for this newscast and there was a gasp in the newsroom as the Associated Press wires flashed.

That the Israeli military has reportedly bombed a military site.

Inside.

Syria.

Near the power center of the president Bashar Al Assad regime in the capital city of Damascus.

Now we're getting this information from the Syrian state run news agency.

Not exactly the arbiter of that the arbiter of truth that we would like for to be but according to the reporting of Reuters news agency Israeli jets did indeed attack.

By Syrian convoy that was as they put it attempting to transfer weapons to the Iran backed terror group Hezbollah.

Now Reuters quoted a western diplomat who said that convoy excuse me was carrying anti aircraft missiles and other weapons.

Security officials in the region reportedly said this is Israel's warning to the Syrian president Bashar Al Assad and his regime.

That they will not tolerate Syria transferring any weapons to militants who -- -- Israel's destruction.

If this has happened it's certainly an escalation in the pocket -- chief correspondent Jonathan Hunt is with -- there is some degree of confusion around all of -- Raised before we talk about this until we have to remember -- dealing with -- one government the Israelis that never admit to any of this sort of action that they carry that -- dealing with another government.

The Syrians who habitually -- so.

That's the prisons -- well through which to look.

At all of this not -- to reports the first is that this calm voice carrying.

Antiaircraft missiles among other weapons was struck near the main Damascus.

To Beirut.

-- -- crossing the border there about three kilometers south all of that border as far as we know.

That seems to be the most reliable sources talking about that particular attack but -- Syrian state TV has just announced that no -- -- it was in fact an attack.

On what they called a military research center.

In a sub -- all of the Damascus that is what they are saying it has happened the Israelis as I said not confirming.

Or denying any of this but every expert you told to -- will tell you this is all about Hezbollah in Lebanon.

That the Israelis have repeatedly said they will not allow the transfer and any sort of dangerous weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon one expert I spoke to said.

This is the beginning the Israelis have drawn a red line and will likely to see a lot more and he also points out that if Hezbollah.

Launches any -- to strike than the Israelis will -- -- very very hard indeed.

I was gonna ask you what what the thinking is among the folks at the State Department or beyond.

About whether Syria might be in position to do something like that -- escalate this.

Had this -- certainly seems to want to transfer weapons there's a lot of feeling the president a sad.

Is allowing Hezbollah to come into Syria and perhaps get their own weapons caches and take them back.

That obviously has always been and will remain -- red line for the Israelis that is what everybody fears here that this is all.

-- evolving into complete chaos a -- is weaker and weaker Hezbollah wants to protect its own interest.

The Israelis want to protect says and this is a situation we know thanks Jonathan Hunt breaking news -- thank you sir.
