Well now movies right we've got the weekend coming up it's cold here on the East Coast.

And that is gonna settle a lot of people to the movie theaters we want to bring on board as I mention one my very favorite guest Matt -- city of rotten tomatoes.

I'll join us live from Los Angeles thank you so much for being here -- Good to see you good to see -- so we've got some movies and we want to talk but I want to ask your thoughts.

On award season but first I want to get to the movies that are opening up this weekend and talk about the tomato meter.

And it looks we've got some some violence and zombies come on our way.

-- Yes well so let's -- -- the zombie movie first because that's probably.

Your best -- this weekend you know I know it's cold out there on the East Coast.

This is the movie cold warm bodies and it's a zombie romantic comedy believe and I.

If I was working that variety I would colonies -- rom com hi this is a pretty fun movie actually.

It's stars Nicklaus -- -- Teresa Palmer people might remember Nicholas Cole.

As the young kid in about a boy he's grown up quite a bit now he was also -- X-Men first class.

This the stories about a girl who is survived in a -- zombie apocalypse.

Runs into a zombie that actually saves her from other zombies.

And seems to be a little bit different -- actually able to speak a little bit and as they get closer and as she starts to be more affectionate with him.

It starts to actually make him get back closer to -- and maybe love is the cure for being zombies after at all.

The critics mostly like this it's in the seventies on the tomato meter.

They'll say that it's a pretty sweet movie and better than you might expect from what seems like kind of a weird -- It it just like where -- -- and when I think the zombies I think I'm not a big.

Horror movie person and -- I don't like things that gross people out is it is it grosses in terms of like the make up and you know the actual zombie OK the some of the.

Zombies are kind of gross but you know as as you would expect from a movie with.

You know our romantic story to it the -- zombies are not that gross actually.

I will warn you as a typical zombie movie there is some brain eating but it's opera really graphic or gruesome it's it's pretty safe as -- -- go.

Speaking of brains.

-- use that in the same way to the movie called right bullet to the head.

So let's talk about this movie who isn't it what's it about -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Well you know I will say it does what it -- little box there are bullets to heads -- -- -- it's Sylvester Stallone as a hit man who.

His partner has been killed and he's out for revenge he wants -- Why they were marked for death so to speak he teams up with a cop played by actor named sun -- who people might recognize from the fast and furious franchise.

He also was in a great movie from a few years back called better luck tomorrow which I would also recommend.

This is a bleak.

Action movie it's not very funny but I kinda liked it the critics are mostly split on it.

It's in the high forties on the tomato meter right now again -- kind of like this Marino it's directed by Walter Hill -- to 48 hours.

And die another movie called red -- people -- from what Arnold Schwarzenegger I bring this up because this is kind of a classic eighty's style buddy cop movie.

Ore bodies kind of cop and convict -- again I think the action is really good here I kind of liked this movie but the critics are -- went.

The script is a little bit weak but the direction by Walter here.

Walter Hill goes a long way here so if you're looking for something that's kind of a standard eighties action flick you might enjoy this.

-- fact that sounds fun so we've got those to choose from and I I always look at the tomato meter why I'm ranting on Netflix are going my apple TV.

And that we always appreciate you know where things fall on the tomato meter now I'm curious Matt.

Since -- in the movie world I have been glued to the TV watching all of the awards and looking at what happened at the -- -- And the lights what do you what is your take on where we are so far in awards season and who's getting what the Oscars of course as -- -- a super bowl of the week award season coming up later this month.

But how -- so far with some of your predictions -- How you think things have gone so far.

Well you know it's been interesting I think that there's been a lot of support for Argo add a lot of people talked about Ben Affleck getting snubbed by.

The directing branch of the academy you know -- as you know he didn't get nominated for best director.

But Argo has won a lot of the top -- -- -- what the best ensemble piece that sag which is.

There if they are equivalent -- best picture.

It's one best screenplay or I'm sorry -- hasn't -- I think yes it did win best regret its won a bunch of stuff that one of the producers guild award.

It'll be telling to see who wins the director's guild awards this weekend.

-- the director's guild has a really good history of predicting what wins best picture at the Oscars.

It usually matches up -- although I will say -- Ben Affleck wins for best director this weekend.

All bets are off because he's not nominated for best director.

I think that it's kind of a toss up that -- now if I was a betting man I would put my money on either Argo or Lincoln to take the top award.

-- the Oscars this year -- there's a few others that I think are going to be close races I think best supporting actors going to be tough to predict.

There's so many good people I've nominated there -- you know Tommy Lee Jones -- Seymour Hoffman.

Among others I think that one of the -- this year is Daniel Day-Lewis as best actor for late and I think that's.

That's one that's pretty much a guarantee I'd be really surprised if he doesn't win that.

RA mad at CIA you know I keep seeing Daniel Day-Lewis does bring on to the stage to accept other awards -- seen so far so.

We'll see what happens always appreciate your perspective and don't forget you can follow Matt -- to be on the the web on Twitter and at rotten tomatoes dot com and also I just plug in that rotten tomatoes on Twitter and Matt -- should be.

As well Matt thanks for being -- happy Friday.
