Well.

The big story this big bipartisan immigration reform remains in the works but despite assurances that any deal will include securing our border.

My next guest is wondering who will be making that call and she noticed the border pretty well written on the Arizona governor Jan Brewer.

Is with us now -- governor we hear that may be a special committee might be created.

That would involve border state governors.

To talk in gift suggestions.

About secure border security had even invited set to any such meeting are any such committee.

Not known not a -- to this point that.

Certainly again I I I agree I think that people that -- are living on the border states ought to have a voice.

In the decision whether that border is secure or not so I'm I was very hopeful when it was presented in -- -- In the act senate bill that we've all heard a little bit about so.

Lucky I thought it was very very encouraging if you get the invitation let us know especially if it happens during this segment but let's talk a little bit about I don't border security.

In general because that's a big question mark how do you know -- the borders secure and I was curious.

How what did you wanna fire qualifier secure border what -- going to actually measuring that and saying.

-- security this year in the United States is an -- last vs the.

Well I think that we all know what -- secure border is we've seen in California we've seen in Texas and back we've seen -- in Arizona.

Along the what we call the Yuma sector.

But that Tucson sector which is you know primarily in the middle of Arizona and Mexico.

And we we have an unsecure border we -- we all know that that is the gateway.

I I believe that we would rely on our experts the people that know what's going on law enforcement that is dealing with it.

And that the people that live there.

That's what I would rely on it it it it -- this is simple manner we can get operational control because we've done in other places.

But for whatever the reason is the federal government doesn't step up and secure.

That that the Tucson sector.

Well one of the things that we have turning -- we'll go back a couple years the Department of Homeland Security said listen 2011.

The border is secure it's never been as secure as it as it is now you really disagree with the Department of Homeland Security at the time so.

Ultimately.

Where do you think the power lies in determining the border secure is it with the states or is it with the federal government who makes the call eight.

Well you know not be determined by all of us collectively together.

We need to talk to the experts we need to talk to the people that live at the border.

And certainly be elected officials that are the people they're getting contacted in dealing with it.

Not only on a daily basis that you know we've been dealing on a daily basis for years.

And and we have -- and -- party agreed that like they Yuma sector is under operational control.

California is under operational control.

They did simply seem to think that they don't want to secure that section.

-- -- -- -- -- -- even fairly optimistic over the last couple days in the -- reason you get in with having this issue back at the forefront again having the president -- and of all the things you've heard what are you most concerned about when -- -- these plants.

Well I want to be sure that the border and it is secured before we start.

Going down the path of issuing whatever it is that they deem unimportant is a deliberate -- decide how they're gonna.

Addresses comprehensive reform.

I think all conservative Republicans I think all.

Could be responsible Democrats want to secure border and that if it we don't secure the border then we go through this comprehensive.

Reform and then we -- nothing will be back back where we weren't 86 when they're promised that the border would be secured it's a pleasure to have you on the program today again if you get an invitation -- let us now.

-- -- will again that they Q thank you very much -- --
