And that's a major developments on the growing crisis with Iran to tell you about this morning.

The -- and officials saying that Tehran would welcome direct talks with US.

That comes after irresponsible remarks yesterday by vice president Joseph -- it.

Mr.

Biden said that the door is still open for possible direct talks.

This all comes after a week of increased threats from Tehran.

You know just days ago Iran unveiled its newest jet fighter -- that they claim can avoid radar detection.

But those claims -- not been confirmed.

And earlier this past week Iran announced plans to ramp up uranium enrichment even more by -- -- more advanced centrifuges.

And of course there is still the ongoing violence in Syria.

-- making a veiled threat against Israel warning any attack -- its ally -- in their -- will be considered an attack on Iran itself.

-- just days ago it is believed that Israeli jet fighters bombed a target inside Syria taking weapons to Hezbollah.

Joining us now former US ambassador the United Nations John Bolton who joins us every Sunday and about this time ambassador good morning.

Good morning there might -- -- good to see when you hear -- vice president Joseph Biden talk about possible direct talks any hope at all with Iran that that would help.

Not if your objective is to stop them from acquiring nuclear weapons are simply no way that Iran is gonna be talked out of a program it's been pursuing for twenty years.

And is getting ever closer to success to actually have a deliverable nuclear weapon.

You know the administration's been trying to talk to run for four years negotiations have been only fitful would be the best way to describe it because.

Iran hasn't seen -- need to do what they may do it this time because they do have some objectives they'd like to achieve they'd like to.

-- time to argue against an Israeli military strike they'd like some relief from the sanctions and then and then they want some other concessions as well dealing with Syria.

When I -- -- -- when Ahmadinejad a couple of years ago you know he he was kind of miffed that the president had returned a letter that he sent to President Obama I mean what's this all about.

I mean this is -- ring around the Rosie with these guys.

Well I think they're very good they've demonstrated over the past that ten or twelve years very good at cutting.

Western negotiators US -- were European and that's part of what they're trying to do is under that the -- having ongoing negotiations.

-- time to continue to make.

Progress on their nuclear weapons program that's a that's a very valuable asset for -- -- raiders time to overcome a obstacles in their way and that could be a factor here as well but you know you've got an incoming secretary of state the United States he may want to try and at least in his view of the world put a few points on the board by negotiating with Iran negotiating with North Korea I think both are dangerous but I think Iran.

Senses an opportunity here and they may be trying to exploit it is there a possibility that the new secretary of state that John Kerry could potentially meet an Iranian counterpart.

Well that's the kind of -- splashy.

Opening to his ten -- secretary of state frankly I'm worried about there are.

Proposals that are out there that that have been tried with -- -- before he might try again that in effect would legitimize.

Iran's current enrichment of uranium up to the standard reactor grade levels I think that would be.

A big mistake that would be weakening.

The position.

Of the United States that we've held for over ten years it would be weaker than the Security Council's position since 2006.

But as I say when you have a new secretary of state come -- particularly one who believes is deeply in endless negotiation.

As John Kerry I think it's a prospect at risk that we face -- -- and endless negotiation there's another negotiating period February 25.

-- stand.

You expect any of them come out.

No I'd I think -- the record dead that we've seen is that Iran uses the negotiation to give itself the the US served more importantly Israel from using force because people say oh my goodness we've got these negotiations.

Going on don't do anything to mess them up.

And it also may help Iran with the international atomic energy agency that they've been -- for the past.

Several years in response to some important request by the agency to -- -- Nuclear sites.

So I I think -- that Iran does it say they have their objectives -- like -- some relief from the sanctions not because there.

Hurting the nuclear program but because they'd like curly from the sanctions for economic react to any idea.

Was dealing with a nuclear triggers and the idea he even said that the talks were quote not going.

Very well also find -- can you explain what this means ambassador this is a quote from the Iranian foreign minister he says quote.

When it comes to the nuclear issue yes we are ready to negotiate.

But we have to make sure this time and this I think is very fair of us.

To make sure the other side that -- us this time comes with and authentic intention authentic and real intention.

To resolve the issue I'm sorry.

What does he -- About he wants concessions from -- from the west from the United States and Europe really before any serious.

Discussions get under way that's how we show were authentic and sincere in wanting negotiations and I very much fear that the Europeans are always willing to make such concessions.

And I worry that the new team it's statin may be a defense.

Would be prepared to go along with the Europeans and give something to the Iran -- that they will pocket and then ask for more concessions.

Without making any real changes in their nuclear program.

I had the ball now seems with a -- secretary of state John Kerry we'll see what happens ambassador Bolton as always thank you so much for joining -- Sunday mornings right.
