Good morning welcome back to political insiders on drama Ogunleye here with.

Pat -- Doug shown.

We're happy to be with you the day after the Super Bowl on notice New York City at least and I -- rest of the country a little slow getting going into -- but it was a big night.

I have heard that.

Of all the work days of the year every year the Monday after the Super Bowl is the highest day of people calling in sick.

Of any day of the year.

Not surprising.

But as part of the Super Bowl there's a tradition which is the president gives the network that's covering it.

An exclusive interview and Scott Kelly interviewed the president yesterday and was -- I guess before the game.

And in the interview one of the things the president did is something new for not new but it's something he's been doing more of both lately which is playing.

The blame game even in advance.

Of problems that are gonna come up.

That if there's a problem it's the house republicans' fault just like in his first four years every problem -- George W Bush's fault.

-- what I find extraordinary we've talked on.

Fox News about this but I think it bears further discussion.

He's since the election.

There is not -- even that the team.

Of conciliation from the president he doesn't even pretend it's basically I won the election.

-- you know I'm on the election -- higher taxes I won the election we.

Aren't gonna reform entitlements I won the election we're not about cuts spending its.

Time in Haiti's.

He already.

That the president who ran on conciliation.

In 2008 made a compelling speech in 2004 about a different kind of politics would be as frankly.

Divisive.

And polarizing as he has.

She was -- that's -- -- I remembered to people who wrote a piece.

Early on -- almost eighteen months ago saying he would be divisive and that's I've been elected that's when he was most of vice president and that's.

Mr.

shown doctor shown.

Maybe we ought to revisit the piece was did you revisit that serve.

The but by the way through and all the way to use whatever good luck getting it published and media environment that does not criticize him well what we're -- -- about.

Mr.

-- and I and indeed John in fairness -- you and and political insiders has always had.

To tell the truth as we know -- without fear or favor.

Without any effort to tilt to the political wins and I think one of the reasons we have had the response we have had is that we've told the truth is we know now and then and then and -- -- all of -- everybody.

But but in order -- in that spirit.

This is you mentioned yesterday on the show we did on Fox News.

You know he came to me.

That you know when Jimmy Carter was president he dug out of the down and they are wherever they keep everything in the White House Harry Truman's originals on the buck stops here and -- Obama's -- We have the anti buck stops your present.

It's everybody's ball.

But on the buck stops outside my already let's.

-- so we got that we want -- we just got our first one and our topic so we're gonna talk about today including this blame game thing.

Number one immigration.

Yesterday Harry Reid in an interview said.

If we we we in the senate will pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill if it doesn't.

Make it to law it'll be the house Republicans -- so already they're laying blame on the house Republicans.

Now Johnny sage says border security.

Constitutional.

Amendment first not much new to say on the topic.

So he wants a constitutional amendment.

I guess I don't think we're gonna get past an original member and we are gonna get -- Place and from what I can tell from the bipartisan group in both the senate and -- house that will do both -- border security.

And some sort of onerous pathway to citizenship.

Now in fairness to -- saved.

He would be right to say not much knew probably what.

Bush tried to do what -- six and fell and it isn't clear to me they'll succeed this time but I defer to my right honorable colleague from.

Charleston north.

Thank you the the yes -- You know in 2006.

Feel partly because labor did not like the guest worker program which is in the structure of this again.

You know it's the framework is very encouraging but we're a long way from anywhere on this.

And and I -- I'm not sure how could you -- this is going to be in the senate because they haven't worked out all these.

DT -- Pat's talking can we put up please number four this is a Rasmussen poll taken last week after the immigration announcement.

And the president's.

Speech about it was I guess it's coming but it's.

-- -- What it is border security if new immigration law passes 46% of the American people.

Doubt that they will have tougher border security.

Which means does -- not if we don't toughened up and in -- try to seal the border.

And we do comprehensive immigration reform for the ones that are here now which they say are eleven million I can believe twenty million people -- here.

That they'll be another wave of illegal immigrants coming -- -- trying to take advantage you know.

Keep your people.

Is that this is fine you don't make it final or -- -- just opened the door the problem Doug I thought the president said his.

He's not saying the about border security in triggers which is what the group the senators in the -- had come to some idea we don't know what those triggers are.

The due to citizenship he was just for going.

You know moving trading -- -- if they don't do about one I'll -- propose something myself.

I'm -- -- your initial reaction last Monday as we prepared for the show last Monday.

Was that if they let the eleven million outside that are here get in line.

Force full citizenship.

That they've in effect gotten away with breaking the law with minimal penalty real.

Vs the people who waited in their home country for years to get in here legally waited years for green card and waited to be a citizen.

That there isn't a sufficient penalty right and your idea we -- was.

The children of the illegal aliens can become American citizens they didn't do anything wrong.

But the ones who actually broke the law should be able to get a green card so they've become legal and Nicholas -- here -- more permanent permanent.

But they should not become Americans unless they leave the country go harming.

It and do what everybody else how to do but don't look through saying that answer politically.

Democratic Party wants these -- right balance of the Buick and I think that would be difficult I have to think it's a you know there's some there's some moral argument there but.

I don't yet know where we're going on this.

But we you know what we've got all the probably got the godless government wanted them to do it one more point before -- I think turn as pat suggested guns or other issues.

The president's speech sheets flies nine hours to Vegas.

He gives a general speech on immigration sets out his principles he does not embrace a bipartisan pro doesn't notice that.

-- and you know he doesn't encourage you need to -- he doesn't encourage it he doesn't say I want people to come to the White House talked about it and indeed as I read this morning from.

There will is criticism.

On Politico that once again.

The president is not reaching out to members of congress.

What only a big surprise well no it is no surprise but there's like Jay Rockefeller whose lead in the seventh feels liberated sent.

Well I haven't heard from the president since the election but I guess I'm new here and a -- Isn't anyone listening sends in this message are immigration policy is outdated it doesn't address the people.

We're constantly crossing the border illegally getting benefits and then becoming citizens.

So there's a lot of that sentiment.

Noted that he here's the thing unless we do real border security to address the concerns.

That Scott Rasmussen poll quite rightly raised.

We're not going to be able to get a pathway to citizenship is we won't get it.

Coalition know that being said with presidential leadership congressional leaders -- I think there is the basis.

For a deal but -- the White House takes the posture that they appear to be taking will get no deal.

Now it gets into a larger issue that we talked about here on political insiders.

Does the white the White House in the present wanna deal or -- they really just out to slam and destroy the Republican.

That's always -- -- they're number one thing.

Number one instance destroy the Republicans retake the house and 2410 witnesses you know and that's why the -- and see what happens here.

I mean if if -- thank pat if the president really care about this issue.

He wouldn't dominance first term -- he got hit hard during the -- -- in his first term.

He would have -- he would have moved god he would be meeting with the with the -- and -- would already be saying we're gonna fashion something I look forward to it.

-- you just it.

It's just on his way it OK -- -- were talking about the president's leadership on an issue let's switch to the gun issue.

We've got comments from people about this.

This also is an issue that the president says he cares a lot about he's going to Minneapolis.

Today or tomorrow.

To speak to people up there about his views.

And we've had since new town which sort of catalogs this thing we had.

The gun bill passed here in New York State by Governor Cuomo and democratic.

Legislature.

With Republican support by the -- the state senate.

And we can put a poll number -- here is the political result of that bill in one month.

Governor Cuomo was one of the wildly popular first term governors in the country a month ago.

Has as you said yesterday pat he's flipped around thirty percentage points in one month he lost fifteen from his positive.

And added fifteen onto -- negative.

All because of this one bill -- plus 61 month ago -- plus 31 of them that's very good number.

But that's coming shocking and don't think other politicians are paying attention to -- And and this is in a blue state.

So if you're -- Democrat in a red state for a purple state running for reelection.

This -- here has to make you nervous as can be about getting anywhere near gun control.

They're very it effectively kills the assault weapons ban if it wasn't dead already.

And even puts things like background checks which are a 90% issue up for -- you know.

The NRA has slipped on them they're now against them.

I saw where.

What went when this thing happen in -- and we were on the year that -- -- and the following weekend.

And we were hopeful there was a poll out that showed the American people in a poll who wanted.

Everything on the -- they want yet the word comprehensive really -- there they want -- Hollywood.

Video games mental health.

And your background checks and security at schools and one gun in -- and handgun control a magazine that wanna look at all that but -- part of who.

Wide ranging solution.

The politicians.

And we'll get to this after the break but the politicians don't seem to be as wise as the people they're supposed to represent.

For -- and pat and job of -- take a quick break -- political insiders and will be right back.

We are back on job of -- holy day here with Packard -- Doug shone with -- political insiders we were just talking guns.

Let's quickly wrap up where this -- thing is going which looks like.

Politically in the house and senate know where.

Well -- background checks Ottawa I don't know.

How we don't to backgrounds and -- -- to drive battleships were right.

And you know I mean just -- nobody other in the NRA that -- say no we won't.

And the other -- I -- talk about mental illness and loss programs for young and getting.

I've -- where I heard after -- -- parents being interviewed on the news about how difficult it is.

If you have a young child -- you think needs and mental health program.

Getting the kid into the program that there's -- barriers to those.

You know what is -- -- being talked about.

There's no political did you look for looks gutless to you don't but the problem and our political system is and we -- -- -- we can extend the issue further.

Into the like the economy which I want to -- that -- -- help somewhat to our politics is about -- you about.

What my priorities are what I say how -- -- divide myself from the enemy.

And that's how we treat our opponents or -- people who have different views not to come together.

Not golf Lyndon Johnson's come in this -- -- -- -- the other side.

And therefore if this affects the inability to -- they look at the economy.

We have really bizarre numbers this.

But not memorize a bizarre gladly put out number one -- we could walk past -- can -- we have we have actually had negative growth in the fourth quarter a shocker.

Unemployment went up more people left the workforce people talk about this economists -- saying there's some really strong underlying positive trends.

It's a massive numbers that we don't have is the president didn't -- what does inaugural we don't seem to care about the economy where.

Neither party is doing that dogs argument constantly your job.

Where is somebody with a pro growth -- -- a big idea.

For moving the country we seem to have said you know what too bad we we just can't get.

Because they put on number five took -- last week was one of the worst weeks in several months the first time unemployment claims.

Once we got past the holiday season the temporary hiring all with those on.

That's a bad number that's up by 35000.

Higher than it had been several weeks -- previously.

I think most people don't feel we're out of the woods he cannot.

I think there's a sense of disquiet at this temper.

I think people are disconcerting it.

But I think they believe both parties really don't have any.

But it is not a good on the blame game when asked about that point 01% the president told Scott Kelly in effect it was because of 22% less defense spending in the month of December got -- Now one isn't hated coming in appreciate that decides what that then you'll also -- done nothing to resolve these issues before I met the president.

Waited literally until the last moment I don't understand why this guy and and the leaders don't get in a room.

And they had this plan that we didn't -- for two years now since symbols you can tweak it.

But it's a plan that most people when they hear about it the public likes that rhetoric.

Well it's it's structurally make sense it's a balance in big approach to solving the problem.

About our won't won't boot and clearly have on the on long term deficits in about trying to do something with growth has both revenue.

-- but you know what we don't have as we don't have team we don't have an urgency about.

Moving our economy -- -- and the president frankly I think racism reluctantly to worry about I got my other issues and -- -- to deal with.

And I got by got by was managing.

They're blaming bush.

-- -- a thing as he wanted to be a transformational.

Program.

He used to talk about Reagan during his first campaign.

With.

The idea that he would be a reaganesque.

Figure on the left -- to do that.

He has to take on his face away and Nixon went to China was only name hasn't it -- do -- not gonna.

To me but he could let's go to.

Another politician is disappointing Chuck Hagel nominated to be secretary of defense had -- hearing on Thursday.

The three of us will all vote against them are not up to the -- And I thank.

I didn't hear anything that suggested to me.

A coherent consistent -- there was so much uncertainty and indecision witnesses comments on containing Iran.

That I found what he was saying.

To be implicitly or indeed explicitly.

At variance to that went Secretary Clinton and secretary Panetta articulated in -- -- interviews you put up number three if.

-- -- while we're talking so these -- the exit interviews.

And the media and here's Hillary.

In an AP and -- growing -- of Iranians are all the inference and there's very little room for -- and so White House first comment -- is we should.

We're ready for direct dialogue with the Iranians.

Bilateral talks is it don't -- and -- is saying -- -- is the problem.

And -- Panetta secretary of defense and then leaving the site to hold another series of ran.

The missiles that they're sending the man the man had -- can shoot down airplanes cheese's there out of control so -- we have are the two.

Outgoing top foreign policy and defense.

Advisors.

The president saying a -- is a problem we have -- eagle.

Running around saying about what all the record for things on Iran that are thicker than a relief it's inexcusable.

-- on the -- and Iran revolutionary party said they were legitimate government.

All these things which lend themselves to believe that we will tolerate that contain missing maybe the greatest forty and -- Inman of course an American -- also because his idea of containment was containment need for -- let them have the weapons and we'll try to control.

That this is the country's really upset and worried about Iran has been remember our experience of the rain goes back -- -- hostage situation.

In its opening in the states have been on which I lived through was real -- but I do particularly.

For Carter and this sense of that they will keep these weapons and try to keep it looked at in killing Americans in Iraq -- era.

We've -- this news.

That seems to me a disconnect between what the -- but what are outgoing leadership has been so it.

And what the president and I think -- it that hateful looks like command that he looks like what we've fumble with a report.

Applicants questioning him didn't really pinned him down effectively and -- -- set.

This gap between Panetta and Hillary -- -- policy wouldn't whose policy or we.

Those comments suggest to me that in -- we have a mainstream media was doing something other than.

Doing -- Scott Kelly and CBS -- the -- with doing -- every Sunday every Sunday applies their lips to certain anatomy -- president.

-- -- -- Was that -- would you don't you would start saying my god -- a big issue.

When -- there's something there's a disconnect here what's the real story Campbell -- and you made a point yes they -- about Molly above right.

We -- we have a whole new theater in the last three months but the quality health Algeria had given.

The gas plant.

Mauritania.

What would we have no idea what al-Qaeda and related groups are up -- -- what the threat is to the United States.

And I mean maybe I missed it but I didn't hear anyone talking.

We'll -- it runs counter to the administration narrative that they have in effect.

Reduce al-Qaeda righty thing no water was the first.

Reaction from the White House.

We're not we have no interest we have no dog in that we have no dog not hunt meanwhile -- a lot of pressure from overseas and I suspect from the outgoing leadership that lets be fair.

There is no coherent.

Alternative narrative.

From the Republican -- They've abandoned their greatest thing which -- and George W.

Bush helped them yeah we have the party of national security right there in parliament Majlis where.

That used to be our strong we don't -- it it's -- president's one of Sony's got a he would the only thing he's been cutting the budget is defense spending.

And not really in my life that's what I loved about the -- about December if you believe one month is what caused a quarter a hold.

Collapse of right I can believe though that the uncertainty leading up to the fiscal cliff did freeze some.

Consumer spending.

Because no one knew what lower tax rates are going to be that that it could date.

But to blame only the Republicans for that.

When he is the president and he has the power to make -- deal.

Or to -- -- look -- and and he is purposely not following his own commission's plan.

Makes no sense politically -- understand it.

He's just -- us vs them the American people are very angry.

But in an.

They go with the Democrats and that's what is playing well that's what he's hoping for some -- and hoping and the -- are expecting is no alternative -- rods up.

Between the two parties for a bigger country and I think.

But I think we all believe bearish wrongly -- that exist.

And I think that go along this is it is a perfect example OK we've got to.

Quickly a couple of things here.

You guys won't vote for haggle because quote he's not up to the job.

When has this ever been a requirement for any government job including the presidency you.

It used to be there in their requirement yeah exactly it was NBC give it looked there were people reacted Democrat people I mean.

There were people were really shaken.

What -- problem is is it because our partisanship trumps -- much -- over to your country.

I didn't not a single Democrat was linked publicly.

To say how concerned they were but privately were but were were quite upset listeners -- This is again from isn't anyone listening which tells us a lot.

This is on immigration it's not their fault they broke the law to live here they just want a better life.

Just like those bank robbers who did it because they want a better -- come on let's be fair we need a comprehensive immigration bill.

One like Obama care.

Where you can pass and then each year as different things show up we realize what the government did to us.

At that.

Summarizes how a lot of people need to abandon dime of like to say by the Republicans is -- -- through my mind really having like a minute or two -- but I wanna say that quickly one of the things it's got corporations and we should say this.

On hole is because always in regulation and obamacare.

That there's a really tax going all right and I and it's not well I have a couple -- left and in seven minutes is the official funeral of mayor Ed Koch who each of us had a relationship work and he's more than just the New York City mayor he was a national figure for decades.

Thoughts.

Well I work with a -- his first campaign and his subsequent campaigns he was a New York original and I think he was the type who.

Respected the approach we've taken on political insiders would choose to tell the truth as we know it now.

And he felt very -- look he was willing to take on presidents over Israel -- issues.

And you know he was really wonderful because -- -- say what he thought -- boy indeed he'd let everybody know.

It's amazing and then -- documentary about terrorism so that was pretty -- hearing.

What Friday night.

And he died at 2 o'clock Friday morning on the day of his production like on promoting his political couples I mean he was very into promoting you know very very good to promote death and great sense security and -- -- were kidding sensing yes very much -- -- We need more original we would like more people like get cuts having a week out that's fair a realist as -- -- himself to be liberal liberal Saturday the -- sanity -- salute their very few of -- By now will have little time left -- be back on Sunday.

530 on the Fox News Channel package -- Doug -- -- but -- -- and back here next week at 1030 on foxnews.com.

Where our mission is to -- -- Fair tell the truth.

And take everybody on -- Tell what they're doing right what they're doing -- No spending no -- no agendas no talking points you're exactly right exactly.

I'd have to go through -- -- -- -- nowhere right have a good week thanks for watching we'll see is Sunday and Monday.
