In the next forty years.

Researchers -- expected spike to aging baby boomers and hope the projections will compel them to take early steps for prevention.

Doctor -- Joker is an adjunct professor assistant professor I should say at LSU Health Sciences Center.

In Shreveport Louisiana doctor -- how we take steps to prevent alzheimer's if we don't even know.

Yet what causes.

At the very good question John.

No it just highlights the need for more research and how.

We really.

You know it is a looming crisis with all these baby boomers they're talking about over thirteen million alzheimer's cases.

They used so many health care resource says then there's cut going to be cuts in Medicare and social security and it's a huge.

Burden both financially.

On families and on the health care system and right now we don't have any great lead done.

-- cure.

Relieve the symptoms nothing really prevents the disease so with the push for better research and it's an important time -- what but there are sure.

There are some things that that you say patients should do.

To try to prevent the onset of the disease for instance I'm not particularly good with languages but I might wanna start looking at learning a new language in my later -- -- At that arrows that -- -- know they talk about absolutely like keeping your mind sharp.

As you wage so crossword puzzle that staying close to your community with people that are alone tend to have more.

The men shot me not all dementia that with age is specifically alzheimer's but these are things to keep your.

Brain sharp volunteer be it -- as a museum just keep yourself active.

And so people who who want retire at age 62 or 65 or even you know 77 beats you then they might want to think about all the none of those jobs and just keeping their mind.

Engaged it.

And -- there's too much stress that the jobs but giving your mining -- you don't have to have a job to keep bidding gauge crossword puzzles and read a lot.

You know volunteer those types of things but there is a huge.

Need for research into drugs you know alzheimer's is caused because.

He gets its protein -- in the brain and it -- it tangles the nerves than and the nerves don't transmit very well.

So there -- research out there looking at cutting inflammation then.

Preventing the -- -- deposits in the first place.

So I think you know it's important that we continue to fund this type of research.

And really look into it because it is going to be a huge problem in the next.

Coming years in the next century for sure.

Now the baby boomers you know -- Thought all along that we are sort of immune to all of these problems that affected our parents but.

Then all of a sudden we are starting to retire we boomers and the world looks a little differently when all of a sudden the baby boomers are.

Part of the retirement population.

Right I mean you can't prevent aging Angel and unfortunately dimension now climbers are the results of aging -- now.

Triple so we can stop that fact that a tripling in the population of alzheimer's patients over the next four years that is something to pay attention to.

Doctor -- absolutely thank you.
