I'm very dangerous winter storm bearing down on the northeast the entire region bracing for white summer describing a blocked lest your pocket buster blizzard.

Easy enough for me to say right it's right it's been a long week faster blizzard is going to be bad storm that's basically -- are saying there's distractions are already starting to ripple across the country.

We welcome -- to a brand new hour happening now glad you're with us I'm generally.

And I'm John Scott the snow is already falling in plenty of places but the brunt of the storm really doesn't arrive till later this afternoon or tonight.

That's when two storm systems are expected to collide combining into one monster of -- winter -- nor'easter.

Snow expected to blanket the region from Pennsylvania up through new England and on -- -- The forecast is calling for one to three inches at the southern -- all the way up to two feet maybe even three feet up north.

Weather watchers are warning this one could be one for the record books shoppers are crowding into food markets and hardware stores stocking up on the essentials and drivers.

Are finding long lines at many gas stations as folks rush to fill up before the worst of the storm hits.

Well there's several gas stations -- the -- -- -- out of -- I actually came to this from because I didn't see a line and I had noticed the other -- have minds so -- makes -- now we have another -- to -- and get -- -- little -- that -- -- and then go -- and -- and get to know each other again.

If you're flying well thousands of flights have already been scratched many airlines canceling in advance rather than.

Waited out and hope for the best Amtrak plans to stop running trains along the northeast -- -- later this afternoon.

Many towns canceling school for the day or letting classes out early.

Molly Line is live for us in Boston right now following.

Hi John -- -- -- snow is already beginning of fall here in the city in the surrounding areas and it's still all about.

Expectation and potential there's an expectation that we could get.

Up to three feet here in Boston in the surrounding areas especially in that snow belt out in western Massachusetts.

In the potential for -- historically massive storm.

As you mentioned one possibly for the record books the authorities here in the city taking a lot of precautions asking people to stay inside -- to stay off the roads today.

As you could see.

-- -- -- -- busy this afternoon the governor ask everyone to get off of these highways like noon today.

But this is what -- the expressway is that leading out of the city of Boston to get to the people -- really trying to get out of -- that didn't make that noon deadline of the governor that's people.

To make but they are trying to get -- here.

A moment ago this was backed up it looked it looked like rush hour traffic now it seems like it's loosened up a little bit -- is actually able to move.

Another thing that really interesting the people especially in the city would be affected by the MBTA the -- of the transit system -- here in the city will be shut down at 330 this afternoon.

And the mayor is asking people that especially stay inside pedestrians cars to -- -- the roads.

So that the crews that are going to be out there trying to get things cleaned up we'll be able to do their jobs take a listen to Mayor Tom Menino.

Couple -- works sure there are now.

We have a 34000.

Tons of salt.

Over 600.

Piece of equipment.

Ready to really -- throughout this phone.

You know doing the news or use stepped -- to big snowstorms they've handled this before many times and in previous decades.

Up but there is also bad.

And then they they know to take this seriously that that there can still be accidents that can still be troubles and problems of big power outages.

Some people are hunkered down and hit a grocery store yesterday.

Wanted to go and change my mind and I -- you know what.

We'll let the folks stocked up they certainly need to do that a lot of people have so hopefully people be -- up inside today John.
