We've passed a bill twice.

-- to replace the sequestered.

Ice time for the president senate Democrats to do their job.

John Boehner placing the blame at the feet of President Obama and senate Democrats as to why there is no deal in place to avoid sequestration but there is the overall problem of the budget.

Lawmakers seem to be nowhere close to striking a deal with that sequester -- joining us for a fair and balanced debate -- content.

Casey and congresswoman Marcy Kaptur.

Both represent districts in Ohio good to see you folks today thanks so much for joining us.

Let me start out with you congresswoman kaptur I -- the president that the State of the Union Address on Tuesday we'll talk about jobs and the economy no doubt.

He will talk about -- he sees -- the need to kick the sequestration can down the road as well.

Raise new revenues through closing tax loopholes.

Why do you support raising more money through taxes didn't we already -- just go through this a month ago.

Well what's important is that we have a balanced plan.

Both of spending cuts and we've had over two trillion of those already.

We see that in list police around our country we see local educational -- going up because those cuts are -- union.

But we also need those.

Who can't afford to pay more to do sell.

And we I have at the moment about two dollars and fifty cents of spending cuts for every dollar in revenue -- you need to balance plan in order to keep the economy.

Growing we -- sluggishness the last quarter of 2012.

Simply because of the layoffs related to cuts we've already made right so we want to keep the economy growing whether it's -- whether it's Cleveland weather in the rain -- the top priority out here in Ohio is jobs.

Congressman -- she is -- anyway that you will accept -- tax increases.

Well again in December the president got 41 dollars in tax increases for only one dollar spending cuts and that's a real issue that's the problem with going forward and that's why -- even -- This past week require.

Requirement -- we want to plant let's see the plan.

If if we can't balance -- budget in ten years from wanna see what the president.

When he will be able to balance the budget because I think that's the most important thing.

We do have to make sure our economy is growing but right now we have so much uncertainty and unpredictability that the business.

People of course I was a businessman 28 years prior coming to congress.

They need to see certain predictability and they don't need to see new taxes.

The budget do you draw -- red line -- taxes or or could there Republican Party in in this upcoming negotiation as many Republicans that I talked to across the country feel.

Cave to the president.

Well again I think what happened here is that the tax increases that one up or or results of legislation was passed 101112 years ago.

But we're really have to do is we have to look at tax reform comprehensive tax reform we have to lower rates.

We have to make sure we broaden the base those -- the things that are going to be important over this next year.

At the same time brings certainty and predictability and a plan and a budget.

You know the house is gonna pass a budget again this year we need to senate to act and pass a budget and of course we -- -- president to put a budget in place.

That people won't pass the president's budget the last two years received no votes.

In congress from the Republicans or Democrats -- let me -- plan.

Let me if I could get the congresswoman in here the living sequestration congresswoman kaptur avoided at all costs.

We have to avoid that because I agree with congressman -- -- that we have to give certainty.

To the markets to keep the economy going but what's happening now.

Is that even federal contracts defense for example here in Ohio thirteen thousand employees in Dayton.

Of Wright Patterson air force base could be put on some type of furlough.

We -- do contracting in the military frankly members of congress don't even have budgets to run their own offices.

To -- office space yet because there's no certainty because of the sequestration.

-- which is very indiscriminate.

And so what we really need is we need for Republicans.

To grow up.

The house Republicans I know that congressman -- see very much wants to be -- part of the team to pass a real budget.

Now that can be done and I wait for the president's remarks this coming week.

But we need cooperation of the Republicans as well starting here in Ohio kind of Ohio Republicans and Democrats could disagree of course there four times as many of three times as many of them.

In the current congress because -- gerrymandering but if we could create Ohio legally could send -- to the rest of the country.

And little initiative finish up here congressman -- -- because they think that they got what has been thrown -- the glove has been slapped whatever you wanna call it Republicans need to grow up what do you say that.

Well again I didn't look the Republicans and pass a budget the last two years in the senate needs to pass -- budget when it comes a sequestration we party passed two bills are replaced sequestration.

And we talked about a growing up -- not actually the words which -- in which will be coming together as Americans and working together to get things accomplished and I hope to see the senate.

At least take something up remember.

In congress house passes something senate passes something they come together they compromise we're missing one -- we're missing the senate to do something.

Hopefully -- and get something done.

Congressman -- C congresswoman kaptur thanks for joining us today appreciate it.

Thank you.
