Got all right sticking with politics elegant -- consent -- who is managing editor all of -- held off favorite political publication the hill dot com Bob good to see you sir.
Good to see you got up big week for you guys and I and I -- desist peace that they -- right now suggesting that name.
And maybe there's a hint of bipartisanship.
Emerging.
Today -- eight -- yeah.
Yeah maybe just to glimpse but we have seen some bipartisanship on immigration both working groups in the house and senate.
Have come up with plans that will soon.
Beaten up put into legislation.
As well as some -- some gun control on traffic when legislation we've seen Republicans and Democrats are coming to get there on that and possibly on background -- so.
-- the -- Obama has to capitalize on this he's not necessarily the reason.
This bipartisanship but he needs to capitalize on the -- needs to move quickly the time is now for president mama's got relatively high approval rating.
So he's got to pass some type of big bill whether it's on guns or immigration I think by the summer.
So he can do you think that this is the one opportunity to him.
To really push that agenda which a lot of people a lot on the right derided as way to progressive.
In the inaugural speech.
Yeah I -- -- it messed -- they write Jonathan that the the left loved that speech and and I think.
-- Obama's probably gonna have to dial that back it because a liberals got what they wanted in that inaugural address but he needs to network with both parties in the house is run by Republicans.
But to get what he wants and it would be a -- he can get immigration.
As well as guns and and and so you know you can't wait too long after the -- tragedy Connecticut -- -- -- family members will be attending the address that tomorrow night.
Nancy Pelosi will be having I I guess as well as.
A child that.
Was involved -- not least in the name.
And there's been indications that Michelle Obama will have someone in her box -- from -- so they have to move quickly that the time is now for present Obama but it but if he doesn't get it there's not much progress the next couple months then.
Well we talk about next you'll be dynamite with Tony fourteen electoral talk about Hillary -- -- 2016.
Okay and -- But what one issue where.
That the president I guess -- -- need to in the in the eyes of everybody's been anything but progressive.
And -- back to look towards the old Georgia President Bush.
Policies.
Is on the security -- again civil liberties and I guess we're talking in particular about drones.
Yep -- and we have a new poll out showing that a majority of those surveyed.
Leave that Obama has not been better than bush should George W.
Bush on civil liberties -- not even a partisan issue one in five Democrats that.
Also don't believe that Obama who came in promising to close Guantanamo Bay he's been attacked by the left on on -- so.
That is something that the left is gone after they're not real happy with the the nomination of John Brennan and -- and they want some more questions from from Democrats on on -- And the and yet this still seems we majority public service opinion support for the actual drone strikes yes exactly had.
And it -- one of the stories we -- over the weekend is that maybe there should be court process for overseeing this certainly lawmakers do some oversight on it but.
That that there at the White House did not give these legal memos and until just recently to the senate and and House Intelligence Committee so.
That's that there's no process he and that's what members it has got to be more of a process here so we're we're not just trusting the Obama's -- and whoever comes after -- -- -- -- -- but it.
Bobby mentioned that the the the nomination of and the confirmation hearing and that we just have been through.
For John Brennan -- CIA director we're also awaiting a vote.
On the confirmation all of -- former senator Chuck Hagel.
As Defense Secretary suddenly -- some talk about filibusters even blocking those confirmation votes how is just go to plan.
Yeah looks more and more that there will be some type -- filibuster senator -- in half who is the ranking Republican on the armed services committee.
As indicated that he wants that sixty -- threshold.
Do I think that haters gonna get through ideal I think he'll help pass the committee strictly along party lines open is -- any Republican.
That will vote for -- maybe senator Saxby Chambliss who's retiring.
But I still -- the mean at least mostly along party lines and then we'll go to the floor and that's a question of of whether Republicans.
-- Lot of hate I don't think they will be so I think he'll be it'll it'll be some a -- little bit of an -- -- ultimately get confirmed while it'll be fun to watch thank you Bob Cusack managing editor of the hill of the hill dot -- -- -- -- -- -- always -- -- to make -- our.
