-- top story tonight pres Obama will deliver his State of the Union Address right after the factor ends tomorrow at 9 eastern time.

We would like to thank the president for waiting till we're done.

Joining us now from boat -- Florida with the zoo once in the -- -- you know.

-- what kind of shape is a country -- -- I'd have to say bill not very good the economy remains sluggish indeed that apparently shrank in the last quarter of Tony twelve.

The debt continues to mount.

There's no agreement in Washington about how to approach these two problems indeed I'd say the two parties are -- for a party logically is they have been in recent times this is something the president seems.

At this point I think not particularly in student doing anything about because he feels he has an election mandate them to continue to do things.

Just as he wants to do them -- to seek common ground which -- once promised to do so.

The outlook ahead looks pretty stormy.

All right now the folks are.

Still supporting the president.

And pull out today Gallup tracking 52% approval.

It's uninteresting historical points that going into his fifth year.

As you said I think the facts speak the economy still shaky the debt is out of control and the two parties don't.

Join together to get anything meaningful done.

Why -- the folks continue to support the president.

Well if they support him because in part they like him and they're proud of him.

And the other party is in bed notre but on the issues bill if you look at day even -- on the -- on Election Day the day he was.

Reelected in received by his lights this great mandate.

People still said they thought that the government was involved in too many things are good people -- Ought to be taking care for themselves and many -- thought otherwise so you have a very mixed I think a mixed message from the electorate.

Yes it that they present was reelected great job getting out the vote which I think was -- heavily responsible for that.

And his pocket and his personal -- job approval would shoot it rains have been bobbing around.

Just about over just below 50%.

Since then hotel and I think it's you know it device did further division and signs -- it will not help that.

Well it is widely anticipated.

That he will give.

A state of the union that's optimistic saying he's got to say not unlike you you he's gonna say everything's going in the right way gets it.

I know our policies are pushing things -- -- right whale come up with a few things.

But then he's gonna basically say look I'm not gonna cut spending he's not gonna say it like I say it.

But he's going to be out we're gonna hold the left wing course we're not gonna reach out I don't think.

So it's eight.

The state of the union is is almost going to be like -- throw down you know we're gonna do it my way or you guys.

To -- Well I think.

Broadly speaking you're probably -- the women are arrested union addresses that it's very long.

Comparison for example -- annoy you address or your standard you -- campaign speech.

So you know -- -- to -- passages in it in which he probably will talk here at least in passing about the need to cut spending and he'll stated do it in the right where the Smart Wear whatever way.

You'll say it but it won't be any kind of reforms of the entitlement programs that Republicans have been pushing for for a long time and which of the big drivers.

Of the debt the other question bill is.

Will he make the long awaited finally make the long awaited pivot to the economy the buzz -- -- -- over the weekend has been that.

He's gonna pivot it to the economy he's gonna focus on the economy because it's still week.

I'm still had a suspicion for a long time bill.

Does this president is really is not really very interested in or by the economy I think he doesn't really fully understand it I think that he's much more preoccupied.

With with the equality of opportunity or at least -- -- inequality of income and with social justice -- he is with the growth of the economy.

And if the economy is bumping along at one or 2% growth that may be good enough for him and -- do I don't think he's gonna go out of his way.

And adopt any policies that aren't completely comfortable with him to try to boost the growth and I think that's yeah it's -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I would be surprised he spends a lot of time in the economy because he's got the guns and immigration.

Stuff.

Right where he wants to have them as far as hammering Republicans on I think they're probably pressed his advantage tomorrow night last word.

Well -- I'd say immigration is one where he might indeed get something done a lot of Republicans want that I think he'll get less done on guns.

And I think that any chance he has of getting new taxes Chris are pretty remote unless you're agreed to some really major changes and entitlement programs and he's -- no disposition to do that so for Barbara thanks very much --
