President Obama expected to be somewhat aggressive in the State of the Union Address tonight.

-- likely is the primetime spotlight to challenge Republicans on several key issues so let's talk about that California Republican senator McCarthy is -- house majority -- Annie joins me now good morning Carson preppie good to have you back.

Thanks for having me so what do you make of that you heard Charles Krauthammer last night and data reports this morning that basically the is the inaugural address was sort of an.

Olive branch but the 12 punches coming tonight.

That's unfortunate I was hoping that this president would realize that campaign is over.

And that he can put a plan together for all Americans that we can move forward and get this economy back working.

Well the plan is according to what we're learning.

Do more spending infrastructure education green energy these these are really themes that we have heard throughout the Obama presidency.

Look at what's your response gonna be too.

You know the notion that that spending more is the way he still believes is gonna turn this economy around.

Well that's gonna fail because remember we've had this -- plan before where they went out spent a trillion dollars on a stimulus plan that did not work.

It helped get us in this mess if you look the president just wants to continue.

To take more from the American people and the workers and that doesn't work he's got more than enough revenues he's always talked about a balanced approach.

But he's never talked about the ability to where he could find cuts in government control the spending -- government.

That's where he really needs to focus and he should put his political pressure on the Democrats in the senate that haven't even produce the budget.

-- there's there's absolutely no indication in any of what we're learning so far about this address.

That that it does that if everything is pointing to in fact you know one of one of his aides it was a source always reports this morning.

Quoted an old Chinese military strategist and thousands of years ago who said.

-- the idea is to build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat.

Across.

That that's the way he sees the GOP that they have they have you know bucked him at every turn.

And that he's not gonna take it anymore he's ready that you know move forward aggressively without you guys.

Well that's wrong fellow at the American public want they want to see people work together you know.

You -- the saddest part of this.

Normally during divided government we achieve big things remember when Ronald Reagan was president the Democrats control both house and they reformed the tax code.

When Bill Clinton lost the house and had Newt Gingrich and Bob Dole to deal with.

It -- the budget and the reformed welfare.

That's the model this president should go after not this continual campaigning I think Americans want to see his work together and that's what the house has been doing.

You know -- the tricky things with this tax reform issue that that I see.

Is that early on in the process of trying to come up with a way to bring in some more revenue.

Republicans said you know we're willing to do that would like to do -- do tax reform we'd like to eliminate some of the -- holes you know -- even you know interest in talking about capital gains all of that.

But not raising the tax rate.

But you know they they certain that -- because they've raised the tax rate initially as part of the fiscal clip art and now they're coming back for more and saying you know we -- we also watch what you guys suggested the first time around.

Ever see the numbers just don't add up if you read the Congressional Budget Office latest report over the last four decades.

The average amount of money that the president got coming in with seventeen point 9% of GDP.

It says this president is going to get nineteen point 1% is gonna take from the economy from the GDP so he already has more revenue on athletes in the last forty years.

His problem is spending.

If you don't just look at the first.

You don't think so they certainly -- Nancy Pelosi she says spending is not the problem.

The president has senate I should point out that -- economist Gene Sperling.

This morning on FOX & Friends said we do recognize suspending as a problem that that's not how the president feels.

He's that they in fact we've cut spending one point two trillion dollars you know we're where we're going there we Marty made those cuts are willing to make more what do you set.

I think the president continues the more he added six trillion just -- the first two months of this fiscal year revenues increased 10% thirty billion.

What's being increased 16%.

87 billion.

You can't get out this problem.

Do you know you're shouting into the wind now I mean act and -- means that just cuts you off there which makes you feel like if I -- -- went.

But it dig -- -- that -- Well I feel frustrated that the president won't listen to the American public because you know everybody talks in trillions and tries to lose the American public.

If you just put take away all the zeros and put in -- family household numbers.

On average we bring in 24000 dollars a year but we spend approximately 35000.

-- -- at 111000 dollars to the credit card.

But on that credit card we already of 160000.

So you can't get out of this mess by continuing to -- You have to grow the economy which is a plan that we both worked together which you gotta watch -- spending is that the president talks about a balanced approach he should actually do something about it.

Knowing -- -- talk about adding things like infrastructure in and green jobs in an education but he also talk about average of entitlement reform to president says he's willing to deal.

Do you see any common ground on entitlement reform coming and the course of this year.

The guy I think the American public wants -- be able to save Medicare and Social Security but I see the president ignoring it.

It every year he ignores that it -- eleven trillion to the unfunded.

That is actually killing Medicare and Social Security.

Where the Republicans put in a budget a plan to balance the budget continues with the Democrats don't even offer one you know the most ironic thing tonight.

They're gonna have apple CEO inside the state of the union the last time the senate Democrats pass the budget the iPad wasn't even introduced there already -- their third version.

That's an interesting that -- trivia.
