Just 24 hours after Pope Benedict the sixteenth shocked the world by announcing his resignation.

Speculation is already swirling about -- will replace him.

And how the Catholic Church will operate in the interim periods with out a leader.

Amy Kellogg is live in -- Amy.

Hi I fell well one of -- pop pop -- and that is the Pope contenders.

Peter Turks and of Ghana said that he -- churches of Asia and Africa now.

Are mature enough and ready to produce a -- and that would be a good thing I felt because.

Anywhere between -- half and two thirds of the world's Catholics.

Are part of this southern church now the process of choosing a new hope we'll get started around mid march it was revealed today -- Vatican officials.

That Pope Benedict the sixteenth -- had a pacemaker.

For years and that three months ago he had had those batteries replaced replaced but that did not have an impact on his decision to step down that had not gotten in the way.

Of his duties at the time either.

He caught up today with some tourists on Saint Peter's Square including a young Belgian man who wants to be -- priest.

Here's what he had to say.

I really -- he's not a European actually.

Tools make the -- the church is more than just room it's something worldwide.

That's -- it's not only be European or or grow more Italian looks from the whole world.

Now -- -- of course the issue of keeping young people in the church in fact bringing young people into the church.

Has been very important in this -- has tried to work on that.

But young people I spoke with today on -- Saint Peter's Square were saying for the next though.

It's not about Twitter it's not about a FaceBook page it's about being to communicate the positive aspects of the church in the relevant aspect.

Of the church.

In the modern age to young people and that's not about social media it's just about having -- savvy to do that a lot of these people are hoping the next Pope will be a -- younger.

But again this is all a process that will play itself out in the halls of the -- and the Sistine Chapel and hopefully we will know the answer.

By Easter Sunday I fell back to you thank you very much Amy Kellogg.
