-- not surprisingly this morning Republicans are saying that President Obama laid out a partisan agenda last night his speech.

Before the president spoke house speaker John Boehner said that mr.

Obama did not have the quote guts to tackle our nation's crushing debt.

And after the address.

John Boehner said this quote we are only weeks away from the devastating consequences of the president sequester.

And he failed to offer the cuts needed to replace it in the last election voters chose divided government.

Which offers a mandate.

Only to work together to find common ground the president instead appears to have chosen a go it alone approach to pursue his liberal agenda that from John Boehner.

Speaker of the house after the state of the union -- union speech but now bring in our -- Iowa Republican congressman Steve King.

He's not a House Judiciary Committee good morning congressman king good to have you with us today that -- -- and it's good to be with you yet it a lot a lot of folks are saying it.

Given the speech last night the tenor of it.

Really indicated that the president is is pushing more for Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the house in 2014.

Vinny is for the two sides come together that get anything done in the meantime -- grade.

Well I am convinced that the president's strategy and I think inside his echo chamber at the White House.

They're talking about Republicans who can be divided about how they're gonna drive wedges between us and split Republicans against Republicans.

10 those would I think be an advantage -- -- looking for is on the comprehensive immigration reform that he spoke to last night he -- send me a bill and I'll sign it right away.

I he's made a commitment to sign a bill that isn't drafted and we don't know what would be and it.

By one of the things that that.

Unites Republicans and I think that and also divides Democrats as statement that he made on global warming.

If congress doesn't act he will.

He has said that he's willing to cross constitutional lines and using executive branch executive orders and rules changes.

And he said -- last night that's all I heard anyway that he's.

Determined to use everything you can to try to push the cap and trade these threw us in implemented through executive action if congress does not agree.

And he has to visit but it works the other way we'll.

-- there's been a trend that trend to the executive order activity out of this White House so ditto when you look at that situation as Republican in congress.

Well you know we can do some things around the edges and it's awfully hard to message against the president he has the bully pulpit.

And so what we do is we have to we have to as Republicans lay out the vision for how to put America back on track.

I noticed last night the president sent the state of the union is it was a strong he said stronger and a lot of us thought stronger than -- But we need to make the case on.

What America shall be and should be and that means bigger ideas and then he's laying out some things but.

To the future of this I would say we have the sequestration eBay right ahead of us the president lectured us on that that was his idea and he needs to take the blame for sequestration.

I don't think we get a lot done in that battle I don't think we get a lot done in the -- our panel that comes up in March but I do think that the debt ceiling debate that's ahead of us in -- and beyond.

Is a place.

Where we can put the marker down for -- balanced -- And Elena laid out that way it doesn't sound you guys are gonna have a whole lot to do -- is sounds like a lot more paralysis and I think that that is the thing that is so frustrating to so many Americans.

On both sides of the I'll.

You know and I mean perhaps.

You know Republicans need to articulate.

You know more clearly to the American people what your vision is for spending cuts and it and I know you probably -- -- tried to did that but that isn't there is something on both sides that can be done to prove to the American people they that your working.

And that you're trying to present something that could it.

Build some kind of a bridge to to get something accomplished before 2014 and who were constantly in an election cycle appeal.

Well it it seems like it here now -- for election every two years.

The -- building a bridge on on spending when you have a president that says we do not have a spending problem.

And then he advocates for a series of programs and says it's not going to increase our deficit by one dying.

Out I don't know anybody that took that statement seriously and I looked around the chamber -- and it was.

How to how could he have the audacity to say such -- -- so we're a long ways away hello everybody has believed that spending is a problem the president says it's not.

Atlanta on a set time let me ask you this if the motivation at the White House is to put Nancy Pelosi back in as speaker of the house how organizes the Republican effort to prevent that from happening.

Well of course we are organized and there are when all of our seats out there are the people have elected the Republicans here and they returned the majority back to the house.

Pay -- and the organization is sell this to the American people go out and campaign and win the elections.

I think -- welcome back here in at least as far as I can see is a majority but I do think.

That the tone and tenor and now say the future of -- Republican majority in the house.

We'll likely be determined in the sequestration in the CR and then the debt ceiling debate does all this -- that bad -- -- yet.

That's right that are -- thank you so much good to have you let us.
