You know it's just a whirlwind of emotions and just a great experience -- to be there and share with a great group of guys that were you know over their fight with me to see the family fallen.

Reflect on it but always remember you know the good times we had the practical jokes we played you know.

Watching your battle buddies you know step up to the plate and do their job so why why is it and at times in which the average person would turn the other way.

My father in Vietnam that.

Did two tours over in Vietnam.

My oldest brother he's an air force my second -- brother Marine Corps.

So this battle comes out you -- country and you Taliban which we know have been much different than the one we're fighting in 2001 by the time to that's -- nine.

Eight years training in Pakistan so they're -- become master guerrilla war fighters you're taking them on directly when did you find out that that battle was chronicled.

That people found out about it and the White House want to recognize it.

Bomb shortly -- after you know we we know it -- hit the news but to refocus the guys on hey we still got nine months over here that was just one moment in time.

We still got a job to do and then it wasn't -- You know late last year that I'd gotten a phone call that.

And I would be awarded the medal of honor only the fourth.

Living recipient of the medal when you look at those who have served before what are your -- who have gotten this before what are your thoughts I mean just great heroes before me that.

You know.

I'd I'd at times just like I can't see myself and the same group -- guys but I'm -- so honored that you know so many people think that.

You know I deserve it but there's so many other heroes are so many guys we were there that day that are heroes in their own right and I just want to applaud those guys for.

For me and you know that every day soldiers their heroes and I really appreciate the American public.

And the families back home that support us every day talk about your family back home they had a chance to come down and see that you have -- And three kids.

They were there at the White House we'll kind of sacrifices they made when he served.

You know they've they've done so so much for me my wife Tammy you know yesterday was.

Fire that did did the day of the the ceremony was our thirteenth wedding anniversary and and for her to you know take care stuff back home -- -- overseas really helped me you know focus on the mission at hand.

Was just so amazing that I can lean on her and the military spouses that are that are they're doing that for soldiers every day I just.

I can appreciate him you know enough to you you -- of discipline person your grandfather father military brother still serving.
