Heart and vascular institute good morning thanks for being with and we love medical stories like this to have such a happy ending in that.

That his condition I'll let you tell us the name of it exactly but only the top part of the heart was beating way too fast right.

That's -- his heart was beating 300 beats per minute it's called super ventricular -- a cardiac.

And it was happening when he was and his mom's uterus and after delivery.

It is the top -- the heart that's been very very rapidly and there was a concern.

That he wasn't going to get enough oxygen and and blood flow to brains and his vital organs and -- seeing something.

This -- not on the television show Grey's Anatomy there's always the wild and wacky things going on this was for someone who was much older.

Is this kind of is this rare to be doing this to such a small child.

Well this cooling treatment has been used in newborns that there's been a concern that there's lack of oxygen to the -- And it's been shown to be very helpful in.

Preventing death and in newborns but we also have used it for heart attacks and -- decreasing amount of heart muscle.

That actually dies during a heart attack and we've been using that adults as well and then this.

-- says you don't actually.

Freeze them -- and put them into a freezer make -- -- ice -- at 32 degrees Fahrenheit right exactly but what has was dying is a cooling blanket that's put around the baby in his body temperature was trapped -- 91 degrees.

So and normal as 98 point 60 that's that's quite significant how long does the process last.

What they did -- after they did it the first time and then -- the baby up the super ventricular attack occurred he came back.

So then he did he began and every twelve hours.

Increased I have to degree.

So they really warmed him up very very slowly it was.

The only thing that turned out to be effective for this little -- any long term effects of a freezing someone like this.

Well in children.

The goal is to prevent any long term attacks.

And he's now six months old and doing well so.

He should be -- and -- and real quick to what the parents' reaction when you said that this was the treatment for a little baby Edward.

I think in the parents are having when you have a baby who's sick -- just want to do anything and everything.

To get that -- healthy and I'm sure that they went through that.
