And back out Sunday house call the doctors and it's a big issue ADHD and our kids.

A new study some racism issues and questions about the treatment.

A doctor Somalia you hear about this all the time with ADHD and our children what was the study say.

Well this study comes from Hopkins and he looked at that -- 180 patients follow them for a bad six years.

What they found that is at nine out of ten kids really didn't do well -- medication and the medication -- -- war.

My take on this after reading all of this is that this disease ADHD is over diagnosed.

And it's all retreated and a lot of these kids are falling into that category.

That may or may not need to be there I think we understand it better we recognize it better.

And that's what we're diagnosing more and the you can -- from the last decade we have over 21% increase in the diagnosis of this.

But I think that in medicine in this in this country at least a lot of it is that diagnosis followed by treatment or medication and I think this is one.

Disease that we can really spent time and I know it sounds like a -- record.

But behavioral modification with eight ADHD I think -- a lot more powerful than just writing a prescription -- giving to them.

That starts from parroting -- -- thing doesn't mean.

Yelling and screaming and sending them to the -- punishing them they're very specific guidelines as to how to go about this for example.

Giving them specific instructions go clean your room if you go back and the kid is not concentrating.

Give -- positive response positive.

We walked.

Type of classification if they do something great.

Give -- reward -- -- not doing well there's a timeout and then there are consequences.

I think if you follow that and spent time with them -- be a role model.

Plus the classroom you can't take care of this disease without a lot of medication though without a single here a lot that is kids they'll just.

Write the prescriptions without actually completely touch.

You know I agree with doctor some money on this and but I -- to get to a different part of it I agree that this -- three over diagnosed I worry that the wrong people are picking it out of school teacher may not know as much about it.

Pediatrician -- may not get to the right experts by the time a child gets to an expert -- may have a diagnosis that stigma causes them.

I'm all on board without.

But I do think it's also -- real condition and pension deficit hyperactivity disorder there is an issue with -- restlessness in attention.

And hyperactivity fidgeting in some children some will outgrow it.

Some won't outgrow it.

I think that doctor mark -- down at Hopkins is only an author -- -- who I emailed in the moment and none of them overnight.

You know he actually pointed out the limitations of his own -- he said we can't really give one group medication.

And another group no medication and see which group does butter and that speaks to David's point what you can't do that -- -- you know the medication is even the right thing to do.

The one thing that I agreed on with him back and forth in knowing is -- team approach is probably a good idea but it's got to be the right team.

Who is your team who's helping the child adjust to the public medication is once you give it they may score better on tests does that mean the medication was the right thing what do you do.

You're a parent and you suspect this will what do you -- I think there -- -- mark I think these kids are actually do you really really Smart.

And you just have to -- -- the right direction if it's done correctly.

-- -- starting from the family from parent to correctly.

Did turn out to be superstars on the other hand if it's not -- that well.

They would there's a lot of drug addiction is beginning to look prison -- as criminals so you have to be really careful I don't think the team approach -- mark is talking about.

As far as having the right doctors but parents and teachers so worked well together to contain this is a way to go -- -- -- -- No I think that the main thing here is to not go overboard with theirs but the main point of the study here is -- a lot of these symptoms are persistent the point they're trying to make -- Hopkins is that if you have these problems that -- not -- -- so quickly it's something we have to follow kids four and make sure that they get -- support -- I talked to doctor of course can I ask a favor with -- on the topic like this with kids whose parents are so overwhelmed right now please come back and tell us step by step how do you build the team.

Because -- -- we'd love to help folks that way.
