On the cruise.

Brenda when did you know something was terribly wrong with the crews that you were hoping to have a great time on.

It was on Sunday morning an alarm.

Well they -- a key announcement calling for alpha team.

And it was 5:30 in the morning and that's what we -- -- to -- at first I disregarded it.

And then it was -- until lame.

Panic patting voice and knocked on our door and said life jackets flak jackets.

Fired and we jumped out of bed and just ran out when we will open the door we saw smoke.

And soon after that we could smell it.

Is very terrifying.

-- -- that's sounds an incredibly horrifying Mercedes.

IE EU and 31 of your family members were on this cruise.

Did you ever imagine that this was going to be.

But the crews would end up being.

Absolutely not we -- -- to have planned to celebrate my birthday we -- enjoying every single minute.

Of -- you know of our adventure our family together it was something had been looking forward to is.

And we you -- enjoying ourselves.

And then that moment happened.

It was really.

Terrifying.

Especially for -- because.

-- I brought on these people on board and you know what if something happens it's going it's my fault because they're here and I felt.

I -- needed to make sure that they were all out of their room since I was.

You know just hoping that you know just checking to see everybody got out out -- go go.

And you know I kind of waited until I senator everybody was -- their -- then they announced its okay he don't have to go to Muster station.

Go back to your rooms go back to your rooms it's okay.

We will let you know we'll keep you informed.

And so we only looked at each other and went back down to our rooms.

And began to wait at that point it was just a matter of waiting to know what was -- -- really it happened.

What was going to happen next -- -- need -- power went out so there was no.

No light.

In some of the rooms we had natural light coming through our -- window.

But that was that was on and we had at that point.

-- Brenda wanna ask you about the cruise ship crew.

You know a lot of people have been had quoted as saying -- it was a disaster and an aspect.

Tell me -- how do you feel like they performed when all of this was going down.

Yeah at first it was really frustrating not knowing anything we were waiting for -- Hours and hours saying they were saying that there are waiting for the engine to cool because to in order to assess it.

And for me that was the most frustrating part because it was just waiting waiting -- that knowing once we knew that we wearing can it be -- out of there anytime soon.

The crew was wonderful they did anything and they -- anything they could do to help -- they would do it.

Me and me -- where in constant check constantly checking up on us.

And whenever they were able to restore power and some of -- this -- was saved -- coming shows and then.

Great movies for people did trivia games scavenger hunts for all the kids -- -- on board.

So.

They they did wonderful.

So Mercedes this was your big birthday celebration was supposed to be a lot of fun.

Did you feel like here on a rerun of Gilligan's Island to targeted -- -- birthday.

Well yeah it.

Yes it ruined my birthday somewhat but -- the we were able to get off that it.

-- -- Safely.

To -- together.

We had no injuries to any of our party.

We were taking care.

My cousin was taken off the boats as she could get -- that she could get her dialysis there was a an enormous rescue effort by the coast tired.

-- it took care of mine and mine quadriplegic you know brother and mom.

Six men carried him up the stairs out of his room so that he could be in a safer place.

We were well taken care of and really that's the desperate -- gift is that we work together -- apparently we made it out together.

And we had a lot of trust me a lot of faith and we were able to come out of it.

Okay in terms of beans you know safe and sound.

Brenda I have to ask you have you got a cruise planned -- already scheduled for any time soon.

Now that it needs him saying that I think I think I'll do it does not next month or if you sleep well.

I think everybody would understand why you -- little time off but I appreciate your -- giving praise to the crew.

And the way they tried to handle it Brenda Mercedes thank you very much for being with us.
