Well I think I'm Doug shone on.
Here with my friends and colleagues John Noble today and Pat -- work campaign.
Insiders now known as political insiders and we're gonna discuss what's really going on in the country and in Washington.
I'd like to begin John with you.
What would you say given the news this morning.
Hagel and Lindsey Graham have apparently.
Withdrawn their opposition.
See Chuck Hagel secretary of defense what was happening last week what's happening now how to use.
Why -- I think they they've count of the votes and he's going to get and whether they oppose them are not now you get to the point where if I want my phone calls returned from.
Secretary -- -- better slack off the -- thank they push it as far as they thought they could.
They got somewhere with a slide with April I mean he's been weakened heavily they cut -- smoked out something on Ben -- which I guess we'll all get Syria.
I have to -- I didn't sit on the show last night.
When I hear John McCain say the reason so many Republicans are against table as they they don't like come.
Because he attacked Republicans.
It's coming from John McCain.
This is how John McCain made himself.
A national figure.
In the nineties and early two thousands he was the Republican.
Who attacked other Republicans he is -- -- John McCain -- In the Republican caucus in the US senate.
Now he's done a complete 180 and turning out on bagel I I have to laugh about even up a Eagles not -- for the job -- how would you explain what's going on.
Well I think what's happening -- but fact you know the -- look.
Absent another revelation which everyone -- time to see what about the Rutgers beat what -- the raptors featured it turns out to be true yeah.
-- -- -- -- -- -- Lindsey Graham says.
I got a letter from -- so all right he's telling me this about it's I guess that's the end of it I don't understand these people you can use.
Think they don't know how to finish it's like Casey Stengel I don't worry anybody here -- -- play -- again to anybody -- know how to play this game.
He views they they have the opportunity.
That if that comes through it causes problems because it causes problems for certain senators Jewish senators like chuck hey if you mean like Chuck Schumer.
Who claim to be guardians of Israel -- pass off on this guy in his 181000 appearances in front of our group.
Arab groups did.
Is it's constant attacks in Israel.
But the fact is is that the Republicans Republicans have known article ever from last year -- ever or foreign -- On national security which used to be one of their pillars along with -- -- restraining government spending which -- George W.
They are able to make a case they've done better in this but all know -- -- in my opinion because he put no pressure on democratic senators.
In red states who should have.
-- table and -- -- it may have been under pressure because these people the stupid party can't mount.
You know -- attack on the water on -- -- -- what bag -- I think you should explain orders what hagel said and as of now wouldn't this about in the -- speech throughout the State Department.
He said effectively that the State Department.
Was an adjunct of the Israeli government in the Israeli Foreign Ministry that's what he is alleged.
When you haven't denied saying -- and you Graham when hearing that said he got a letter as pat said from I don't remember saying it and I just about it budget right.
So he's just about it but the fact is the man who revealed this today was interviewed by fox and is a supporter of the Eagles.
Just said he should -- The -- you -- they still are absentee financial information whether he was a and who paid for some of these things.
But you -- use it use you know it's it's a problem when you have no Democrats.
Of of the standing of and let me put it this week do you think -- don't viewers -- Yorker hearing Daniel Patrick morning and what -- that -- -- -- mouth shut up on on hagel.
You know there's a new book out about -- -- that the UN.
-- zionism is racism has been -- moment that argues it was 1 of the central moments in American foreign policy and I was thinking that very question.
Myself today pat.
Which is how could pat -- had have put his hand up.
And said I would vote for chuck -- the world that is the problem of the difference of the quality of the decline in the senate.
-- people who stand up for the country and we can repeated his shifts and it whether it's on this issue -- -- which are gonna get.
In stand up for the country rather than party you think they taken all.
To the political party.
And they don't put that to be sure but there are more loyal to that than they already know that the constant war and to their -- purchase the only -- there're there are senators like Cardin Maryland who are bananas over -- but there's little gonna vote for they're still above -- because party loyalty and being responsive to what they're told to do is more important than.
-- that been serving as a member.
Of -- -- of -- conscience and principle you know let's put up the first.
The longer the country hates full screen -- person.
Gets to one of the points -- patent John we're making about.
The president's national security and particularly the Gaza no I'm not not the -- on government spending but.
-- the president.
The first -- There are handful of issues mostly around national security.
Where people have legitimate questions where they're still concerned.
About whether or not we have all the information we need -- by the way is not a good example of that that.
Was largely driven by campaign stuff because everything about that we've had more testimony.
And more paper provided to congress than ever before and congress is sort of running out of things to ask.
I I would say pat what do you make of that.
Well what I saw yesterday actually I've read it and -- thought it was so nixonian -- You know you know.
In terms of his raising us this way we now know more questions than -- have been race.
No one has spoken or seen the interviews done with the -- by the FBI with the people who were evacuated can you -- and that.
We have -- whoever they are on the ground we have no information on that the president we find out.
Missed due to commodity hearings with -- the secretary Panetta basically you know and I said the minute Secretary Clinton.
In his church testimony about I thought that was sort.
Is the president was god knows where he was -- what he was doing except getting -- first fund raiser and we know that we still have the answer to the -- charge of that the fact that they created this fiction this law.
Of a narrative to protect the election.
What was the merit in the narrative was it was about -- and all of this was about the video.
Then that we put the guy in jail or -- -- -- -- wiped out al-Qaeda we wiped out of the war from there everybody and by the way it was all because of this video.
And they refuse -- they kept lying when they knew and rice.
Biden when he was in his debate in the president and his debate.
Dissembling in front of the American people.
But the meeting will not Cole -- and I keep waiting for someone.
In the media like you Bob Woodward to do what they claim they are graded doing -- are I would tell you -- the each country need to know their four dead Americans including.
An ambassador for God's sakes well this was a human life equally as having we do obviously an ambassador as a special place in our hearts and our -- our.
Political lives but a life is a life I think there were what was it 37 people killed in the and Algeria.
And the reason -- site that.
We were told during the campaign that al-Qaeda was effectively defeated.
-- -- is reaching through northern that's my point.
And we -- -- have you heard the narrative they didn't want want look at -- -- is still going look let me raise the other thing this morning within his tax in North Korea.
I mean what they're doing North Korea if you heard anybody getting up and -- -- -- -- that policy.
Or even discussing.
The fact that they are now working on missiles to target American territory.
Don't exist it's it's it's insane.
You were and are a Republican.
Where is the Republican Party the hope.
The Republican Party know what exactly it doesn't exist except on this thing -- thing they've been pretty good about pushing -- well other than let's remember that day and their nominee.
Romney when he died on that issue and -- that is not -- what about common now but now they've -- it yes.
But EDS they have done since the election what -- her as they didn't believe that we're gonna lose the election both Romney that thought.
For a while they thought they would -- the senate they can't think and they can't count they can't I think they can't cap and their shell shocked and they can't decide what their strategy is except in this.
One narrow thing they've been pretty good during these confirmations.
To push civil.
That's it for Republicans otherwise.
I think they're they're they're in their daughters so -- -- I got to ask you question we're talking about an office stream.
But I think it deserves to be aired what is the president's strategy what's present.
And and this is what no one is talking about except.
And this is times it's what everybody in on the on the job on wheels -- OK okay here's the secret -- to you that you don't Perez anywhere else the president of the United States is not interest in getting that he doesn't wanna -- immigration.
He doesn't wanna have come from gun control he doesn't have any of these things what he wants to destroy the Republican Party win the house and fourteen.
And their strategy is to put as many divisive issues and hurt Republicans -- serves their purpose not Q.
In policies the latest thing the White House leak.
A -- when you have the only issue we've seen Democrats Republicans get together on in the house and senate in a bipartisan fashion.
And the White House puts up something -- -- -- That is guaranteed to torpedo.
The designed to torpedo.
The success of those things.
This president is and I say this.
What all but all the strength I can't issue is his most disingenuous president since Richard Nixon its businesses -- getting election.
These the most divisive president you and I've written about.
And let me some -- He doesn't really care what the consequences.
I hate to say this about a present.
-- not care what the consequences aren't.
John I I think he.
Thinks the consequences are if I'm in the present.
Things are going to be -- -- I don't always gotten what I want I've always want everything I've done.
If I'm president I've just been reelected I can do what I want it'll be good for you my judgments better than you.
And then all the so the stuff I I agree he wants to wipe out the Republicans or help him do a whole region right.
And he'll wipe them out -- 4014.
And they and he'll do it by saying.
The Republicans are the ones who won't do guns want to immigration want to block -- -- the media will help and us and they have I would say they've got.
You know they've got a they've got a 45%.
Chance like that about -- back.
It's still not manage to stand up for anything is we'll talk about the spending you know who's been we have a charity here which says that.
It's time for all fiscal conservative Republicans.
To join in voting for libertarians.
What do you make of that job.
Well there are libertarians like Ron Paul.
Who's out and there's a libertarian -- -- but it's not it hasn't caught on and Ron Paul ran as a libertarian in the Republican Party.
Didn't do well when -- really get down but he didn't win one caucus or primary I don't think he won.
Something in Maine maybe.
One that this -- -- -- fix the results that.
-- for the state party did Reagan against hat -- Tatum my take on this that's just an example of division going on.
In the civil wars the weeks is a modern day weeks commit suicide on themselves the issue I've -- -- it is time.
Parole people who care about fiscal whether they're conservatives or Republicans.
To rise to the question what the heck is happening to a country on the verge of heading into.
As -- effective bankruptcy is being floated this is where I do agree with -- all the one issue.
Why the Fed.
Just buying bonds up and creating money.
To pump up the stock market and -- debt -- by the -- at the cost of every single.
Elderly person in America or -- one of some of fiction.
-- only -- -- We're gonna get to the budget and just dissect.
But do you see any hope.
In any of what's going on in Washington.
That we will move past this activists of partisanship.
Any time soon enough not salute -- -- and couldn't get together and all this time on the issue -- and how about sequestered.
People get together on nothing.
Other than how to kick the -- down the road.
And how to serve what they serve which a special interest is they all did in the fiscal with bill and it may -- defended their own nest.
That's why the country.
As 11% rating of the congress and trust in the federal government is a record low.
Beyond anything government now Johnny sage who is been particularly -- and prescient.
Has come back with -- I think we can.
Principle if nothing.
-- stage Republicans can't win aren't anything.
We might as well start voting our on our on our principles.
That would be good if we decide what our principles aren't -- Yet they -- now I have we have all said each other on this show and on our Fox News Channel show.
Simpson Bowles is the plan to embrace to address all -- American national -- we're gonna have.
A quick 32 break we'll be back with John and pat to talk about the sequestered -- -- and related fiscal questions.
Good morning again I'm Doug shown here with John mobile today and pat -- out we're gonna turn now.
So the sequester the budget issue which.
Basically means that there's gonna have to be automatic across the board cuts in the budget march 1 please.
Two sides to Democrats or Republicans are not able to.
Agree on a replacement.
For -- think about a hundred billion dollars and if I thought maybe Favre stand corrected that were agreed to in the some are eleven.
Budget reconciliation act so Jon what's your take.
On that why are we here.
What does it mean and what's the way out.
Well we know why we're here we're here because in August to 2011 they were trying to raise the debt ceiling they could make the deal so they both sides -- to this.
Why is it -- for a while it's it's it's huge spending cuts.
No revenue increases all spending cuts across the board of the federal government.
Aimed at forcing the two parties to negotiate a better deal and they -- they had a year and a half later -- -- -- or not out of that -- -- Because neither -- as you said -- the base of the two parties doesn't wanna make a deal with the other guy.
I mean we're the Republican conference in the house pat doesn't -- -- -- -- -- they go to the Christmas party -- only wanna shake his hand the Christians.
Well I he would have given way Obama's treated them on the trip you know serve but.
You don't travel you're invited to the Christmas party no wonder if there was well I'm sorry to hear -- stuck in -- but not surprised not surprising but you know.
He is it is strikes me that.
The president you know you got the president's elected to be the leader.
We're on sequestering.
He is -- in that disastrous deal with mr.
McConnell leave -- Ambrose -- side of the Republican Party.
Those you go back and look so workers through the worst general in the whole civil war.
Did the deal at the end which was they gave up any -- on the debt ceiling before the election took -- off the table.
And what they did justices questioned the president asked board demanded.
Big party leaders and both sides embraced it now other -- -- that we don't know where it came from what is it about that you negotiate because they can't.
This is -- -- they voted for itself.
Yeah they're -- and vote they all like well I read all these shows dumping all over and that the president could only candidate that -- on the campaign to that would never happen.
This man is never held to any responsibility.
And why should be reasonable to pygmies how -- you tell you about Paul Ryan I'm talking about president.
-- to argue about the president winning Paul Ryan is another matter another disaster in the Republican Party.
But on the sensible you know and we're gonna do before the break.
I think it fits into your list of things that Obama does not want to do he doesn't wanna do guns immigration more time.
Yeah -- -- send some more redistribution taxes what he has to go let me just redistribution.
And destroying the Republican lead but look what happened.
You know they gave him they gave him they collapsed on the physically they came higher taxes they got nothing court.
And now he's back from war and what I haven't heard anyone say what did we just gave you never -- and you're not getting any -- until we get something we'll -- -- country get -- country gets them.
Problem is all this budget stuff to be honest with you I don't know what's really being caught because we deal -- these budgets not from zero base.
From what did you spend real spending.
But how big -- the increases.
Zero based budgeting which is a concept I don't want to get into but basically it's is what you -- -- how much money doing probably spend.
Either I've heard that for -- bureaucracies.
That there are cuts coming and they play these games and what they used to go to the hardest -- of her right people the most aircraft there in order and in -- -- In order to protect.
Their own jobs and city yours but with scum that's comes first so we won't -- bounced up and by the way.
That's and I think the president does -- -- You don't think you don't have a -- he says he is.
-- has a lot of things.
And he says a lot of things he's never challenged.
In me he can't be challenged because.
He can answer when he -- and keep that I don't think the left like sequester.
Especially on defense that wanna cut defense it never gets -- -- I don't know if that's what they have already -- a half a billion defense half of that isn't the only thing happened truly the only issue the president is -- to cut.
Is defense and we're gonna cut or maybe there won't -- But just across the boards what.
When Leon Panetta who I think is Doug I think you should speak I think has been an outs being extraordinarily good -- -- -- and an -- secretary of says disaster here meanwhile look at Chuck Hagel replacing him who would like dude you we've been more -- right.
So why Obama likes when -- -- to -- you know we are in a serious problem foreign policy I don't.
We have what's going on -- ran in and the Chinese activities what they're doing the north Koreans.
And my god we're gonna send the signal we came sends second carrier to the our normal second carrier to the tournament please.
Let me has that full screen to be put up the Rasmussen Paul.
This shows that.
What would help the economy more government cuts 55 more spending.
And education energy infrastructure 36 and those -- the three things that the president talked about so John why me.
Do Republicans not harp on cutting government.
And why is the president able to do what he's able to do.
Well two questions.
The second one the president's able to do what he does because the media lets -- do -- and there is no check on him the first part.
I -- I -- some Republicans talk about spending cuts.
But not much and they did Marco Rubio and his stating -- -- of the night talk about spending cuts I don't remember -- -- he did and an off the air pat and I were.
Talk about what are the bedrock principles -- Johnny -- The Republican Party.
And it's paid they say Reagan's two -- strong national defense.
And -- fiscal its policies.
We sort of got away -- that with bush spent money like -- -- sloppily spending federal money.
And and we screwed up national defense -- So -- -- through with the war with two wars and -- world especially -- -- the Iraq War it's not just let me correct that the fact is is that yes.
Republican and until some Republican so you're in Q questions system.
Until summer put in some Republicans have -- future won't be somebody gets out which Romney would not doing the campaign.
-- we've made mistakes too we'd.
Mean you know we didn't actually -- said I'm -- to correct that.
And they run as an outsider otherwise we're headed for some of this this vacuum is not -- -- this -- Someone has -- bill it.
All of the all of the efforts to suppress.
Other voices in politics cannot succeed eventually would that would that this kind of back.
-- -- -- -- What do you see.
As likely to happen march 1 will there be a deal we'll -- not be a deal on the sequester.
I don't think there's got this tough I don't think there's an idea I don't think enough Republicans.
After -- -- distance that the it is him.
After the clock cleaning may god in the last said the negotiation -- their attitude is we won't.
This guy won't cut we're not to raise taxes and let's just go Edmonds question.
Let's get some real cuts and I think the chances are better yeah yeah.
That we are going to go off that court.
So basically what you're saying is -- less and less McConnell and one of his last minute surrenders to Joseph Biden.
At the last minute besides surrender which is -- But I thought basically we had the last fiscal cliff the republicans' case -- started.
That's a fair I think that's a nice way to put it okay on this one you're suggesting they're just going to be.
There are unwilling or unable to get a deal -- president won't lead on it.
President didn't say think I'm one changes speeds that you said that yesterday he didn't call -- which you said yesterday the president didn't -- in the state of the union.
To talk about any of the issues -- of the country with the Republicans were facing a crisis he did nothing in setting nothing on that note.
Gentlemen we need.
To call a halt will be back.
530 on Sunday on.
And we'll be back here next Monday at 10:30 AM for John and pat I'm done charm thanks for joining us thank thank you Doug.
