An estimated 8% of adults suffer from chronic nightmares and if you -- if that is the can't sleep because of some bad dreams well not to worry.

We have some ways to turn this nightmares -- sweet dreams for you doctor Shelby Harris is the director of behavioral sleep medicine.

Start for a very -- -- number of reasons for some people it's just -- response to stress and anxiety that's going on -- life for other people can be due to certain medical illness says other people going to be -- or trauma that might have happened and we change our nightmares for many people you can't daddy's.

There's there's various techniques one is just going some people go to therapy and they talk about that and that can help for some people but -- not the most effective option -- -- rehearsal therapy -- IRS TIR -- is very effective for many people.

What is IRT so I am teasing -- Therapy that really hasn't been around for very long at all what it is is it's about understanding that.

Nightmares and -- images that you're having -- if you can practice imagery during the day closing her eyes seeing something seeing a beach ball.

Then you can actually do the techniques and it's about taking a nightmare and not the scariest -- -- you have.
