-- that there's new fallout.
In the White House push for increased gun control laws after vice president Joseph Biden shared some firearms advice for women who are worried about their safety.
The vice president was answering questions yesterday in a forum organized by Parents Magazine and one woman asked about a possible federal ban on assault weapons.
Here's the vice president's suggestion for self defense.
If you want to protect yourself get a double barrel shotgun.
Have the shelves at twelve -- shock.
And I promise -- as I told my wife we live in an area that's what it -- somewhat secluded.
-- Jill if there's ever a problem just walk out on the balcony here walk out.
Put that double barrel shotgun and fired two blasts.
Outside the house I promise she was ever coming it is not that you don't -- they -- fifteen.
It's harder -- it being it's harder to use and in fact you don't need thirty rounds to protect yourself why -- -- -- -- if joining me now to discuss that Steve Hayes of the weekly standards.
And few -- that CEO of concern veterans for America.
So outlets -- the end as Steve.
In that the right is ticked off because they say Joseph Biden -- know diddly about his guns.
And the left is ticked off because they say and let me let me put it in the words of Bill Maher.
Also the Liberal Party loves guns to just different ones and then somebody else goes on to say you're not helping -- So he's displease both sides your thoughts on why he went there.
That's a good question I mean it was interesting -- read the transcript of that Chad have you with FaceBook and Parents Magazine.
Where he said that he wasn't expecting these kinds of questions from people who read Parents Magazine and the -- copies of Parents Magazine -- -- vice president's press -- But I look I don't think Joseph Biden did the White House any favours necessarily because what he said can be so easily and I think roundly mocked and I say that if somebody's not a gun expert myself.
But at the same time.
If you if you strip away sort of all of the the silliness that it involves Joseph Biden's answer and and sort of the questions that you're hearing from gun rights advocates today.
The vice president ultimately made had an argument.
In favor of ammunition base defense for a home invasion.
That's something that I think gun rights advocates might like to hear from this White House especially in light of the fact that we've seen.
Growing out of state legislatures and out of other proposals that we've gotten -- from congress.
Or -- around the country.
Some real I think over the line requests or or efforts to restrict guns.
Yeah -- that's that's with a look the left is saying and in that marlin out ecologists have gun control charade -- about the vice president.
Called attention to that -- I do want to talk to you because.
Folks on the writer saying.
In addition all that he's wrong about his Faxon and although some people want gun control of tried to demonize this air fifteen because it has been used in some terrible events -- he is not correct that it is harder to aim and harder to use.
Yeah I mean you can't help but watch that clip and wonder what in the world.
Vice President Biden knows about firearms.
More difficult the fire more difficult to use.
If if I don't make if you've ever fired a shotgun have -- you know how the recoiled.
-- -- you better have it right here on your chest.
And really know how to anchor it in order to it to absorb and then fired accurately.
As opposed to -- -- fifteen which is effectively the civilian replica of an M sixteen or him for which I care in our guys carried in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Which is made for accuracy.
Mean for for every day you so that it minimizes kick to maximize accuracy.
-- shocked and then you think about the pressure social doctor Jill -- going to be on a balcony with two shots and -- those two shots are gonna be accurate.
So he doesn't need to reload again as opposed to what you wouldn't -- an air fifteen it's an absurd comment.
Which I think exemplifies a lot of the approach he's taken on the -- That's the thing he's he's -- the other people even The Washington Times the -- when he -- today.
He fired two shots you know the the warning shots.
And then effectively dead if you're a thing if your sacrifice -- has -- as a weapon -- your bullets are gone that's the single you know it's not like -- got them out of a weapon.
Yeah for eight -- the fundamental problem with.
But what he said as you fire those two adjustment you have to reload and I think this is this is you know this is part of -- if you if you take a step back and look at the big picture here.
This what happens when you have people who aren't you largely who aren't familiar with guns or asked -- -- with guns.
As many.
For sort of gun rights advocates.
And pro Second Amendment represented -- try to make laws.
But to govern things that they don't know much about and I think that's the fundamental problem that's part of the reason that there's such a disconnect.
In this national debate over what's going to happen next and what's gonna happen in the aftermath of -- And did that they -- fifteen according to a lot of gun shop owners -- is actually more believe it or not of a mainstream weapon.
In the weapons community because they say it is so easy.
But but we have the issue here again of one of the politicians -- on this issue telling us what we need.
Women in particular this is very -- we'll tell you what you need to defend yourself just isn't that -- that state lawmaker out how out of Colorado yesterday is telling women.
You know that they may they may be to -- understand whether they're about to be raped or not.
And and it's just there's something there's a litter here -- there as you know these lawmakers telling us what we need and what we'll understand and they know better.
Absolutely and it's all it's a giant vale -- -- they have no idea what they're talking about probably have never handled the -- and they don't know the difference between.
An air fifteen an M sixteen and what an automatic or semiautomatic weapon does and what that means and how it.
How it functions -- to see a big scary.
Black weapon that must be banned because it's scary looking and they don't think about that female.
Who who can carry that air fifteen can fire it accurately and feel safe because of it as opposed to a shotgun which might be effective in close range and certainly is and in many combat situations.
But when -- and longer distances or when you need multiple rounds.
I it's not gonna be there at the way you used in air fifteen would for you -- -- did they don't know what they're talking about and you're right they're making these choices.
From their air conditions offices in Washington DC with no information.
And not actually talking to people handled these weapons systems and know how to use.
Typical Joseph Biden he gets he gets -- both sides have been pleases and this pleases everyone Steve Pete thank you thank night.
