Crazy segment tonight female teachers having sex with their students 33 year old -- -- Erica DePalma.

Teacher at West Orange high school in -- jurors.

And recipient of the teacher of the year award in that state in 2011.

Pleading guilty to having sexual relations with a fifteen year old male student.

-- -- one of the many female teachers who have recently been arrested those kinds of crimes question is what's going.

Joining us now from Los Angeles doctor Wendy Walsh psychologist and from San Diego doctor Bonnie -- -- psychologist and turn.

Doctor -- what is the why behind the story.

You know bill I think this is an epidemic and sadly I don't think it's on the rise and I don't think females committing this sort of abuses on the rise.

I think that we're just willing to talk about it more.

I do however think that the Internet has -- role to play and that's because I think social media.

Blurs the boundaries a little bit and allows teachers and students to connect an inappropriate way is your morning easily -- I know a lot of teachers.

And clerics clergy also.

Who email.

It's students and and parishioners or whatever and then when you get into that casual setting doctor Walsh.

That you don't have the formal.

Relationship of authority.

And -- It breaks down correct.

Well I it does a little bit and that's one factor many many factors of where we have the boundary violations and I disagree with doctor -- here because I actually think female predators are on the rise I think women have adopted a male model of everything.

And in terms of sexuality they've adopted this stereotype of an aggressive male and as I always say the women are going to be a guy at least be a gentleman you know let -- did -- did -- cents.

So I think that so many women are thinking -- that it's not gonna hurt always that this is okay.

And now we're seeing it that it.

-- child -- of -- did anything else let me have -- -- let me disagree with you and -- dissenter.

I don't think this has to do with sex per cent.

I think this has to do with power.

These women.

Who are doing this they can get -- they could have appropriate.

Physical relationships with men and their own age or older.

You do that.

But they choose not to choose to pick on powerless people defenseless people.

And that is a psychological.

-- Order.

-- force or am I wrong.

You are absolutely right bill I think this is all about power.

This is about abuse of a relationship of trust and I think what you're seeing here is we're talking about it more because.

Quite frankly you're -- to come on and talk about it.

And started national do you guys this isn't -- incidents -- of -- shadow I don't think fifty years ago in this country that female teachers would do in this kind of stuff the extent they are now I don't.

I Iran where -- I -- Saturday.

I I noble we don't have data to base that on.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I'm not by and that and I am I -- to -- we are living in a permissive age now and a narcissistic page there is the key word.

Narcissus believes that whatever he or she does -- And so -- a teacher she's a narcissistic.

She has the power she likes this kid for whatever reason whether it's a male or female and boom I'm gonna do it because.

Hey it's -- I wanted to what I -- to do doctor -- I think it's partly I think it's partly about power but it's also because these young teachers.

Because the boundaries are blurred they forget they're adults in this situation and the other arizonans -- now.

They did there in this highly charged -- situation with teenagers and their classes and they'd literally become almost adolescents that Zenyatta.

Always thought I saw -- look I was 22 teaching eighteen euros in Miami and had never happen to me doctor far strap it up.

I think bill that because were creating a national dialogue.

People are willing to talk about -- I had somebody call me this morning about the issue to come forward to say he'd been abused years ago at the age of fourteen -- female teacher.

I think it's a national problem and I'm very grateful to present -- -- and -- should -- -- that's for sure this absolutely.

Earthlink decided -- you guys any good you know it's like the good guys and all that.

-- and again ladies thanks very much we come right back.
