Tires recent flying into the stands at Daytona International Speedway yesterday just hours for the kick off in the Daytona 500.
Rick write music is live from Daytona this morning with a guest on the aftermath of that and how can look forward to today's race -- -- Hey guys yet today is the big day the 500 -- government Reynolds a year fox sports analyst for NASCAR -- also former crew chief.
So you know I think your true literally about the race here.
Seeing that crash yesterday it's got to have some impacts on today and tell me when you see that what's going through that the drivers' minds today.
As are getting ready for this does that haunt them -- -- them -- -- Well I don't know but some -- -- some but certainly those fans that were injured they will be only drivers' minds are -- -- be on everyone's mind.
But these drivers they're there they have a strange DNA would make but when those rights cars and they crank those -- to start this 500.
It's pretty much the task at hand that they've got this 500 mile race and trying to get right here to Victory Lane but of course.
All day long and in even beyond those fans and their families will be on -- would -- -- our prayers and -- it seems like we're getting used to at the end of the big races right now especially here at the Daytona speedway.
Their ends up in a crash I mean it's it's an aggressive sport and at the very end.
Do you think we can see something like that today.
Well the numbers say we know what we're going to see probably a late race caution I think about eight out of our last -- Daytona 500 we've had a caution.
In the last ten lap that bunches them back up.
And at that point everybody says apps I've got another shot at winning this Daytona 500 that -- -- it's not about a good points today.
It's about trying to win the biggest race of the year and make it right here to Victory Lane.
Prior to the crash yesterday the big story here was Danica Patrick -- in pole position.
Talk a little bit about her chance -- and what this does for the sport well it's huge you know the not only the national attention but the world -- attention.
That's been brought to our sport since she settled -- A week ago and you know it's it would be big if she settled hope for any of our races but I think to do it the biggest race of the year the Daytona 500 she's got a fast race car.
And I think -- agenda today will be different from what it was in the qualifying race Thursday and Thursday was about protecting that race car.
It's still being able to use it here in the Daytona 500.
But I think the agenda will change I think she's here to be competitive and I think she truly -- to be the first female to lead -- lap of the Daytona 500.
Which would be possibly go -- number one she -- a few laps yesterday.
In the nationwide race and better engine blew it it doesn't hurt her that she -- have more time in the race yesterday.
Not I think we underestimate her experience here today will be heard ninth start -- different series here at Daytona and I go back to last year when she sat on the pole for the Nationwide Series race.
She ran rot at the front -- a big pack all day long she end up getting -- by our teammate.
But I think she has plenty of experience in the bottom line is she has a fast race car which is a big key to to win in here perform and whale and a great team Larry thank you so much for joining us this morning obviously everybody's.
-- -- are with all of his fans there.
But you'll be on the race today on NASCAR on fox thinks we -- up early for us.
Not easy to do.
