I earlier heard -- Obama -- airport delays daycare closures would inspect meat.

If congress did not pass the plan he's proposing this week and he's not alone the entire administration spreading the same message.

To the media.

This is a huge cut it's a billion dollars it's 6600 million.

At FAA which has the largest number of employees and DOT.

It's about shared sacrifice but this doesn't have to happen David.

If Republicans and Democrats get together this week and take a look at the president's plan.

Which you put on the table to save 85 billion dollars this does not have to happen there is still time to reach a -- -- So it sounds scary but are they really the facts David for -- of the end.

Washington examiner and author of spin masters -- the media ignore the real news and helped reelect Barack Obama is our guest today good morning to David.

Good morning so well what do you make of that way in which the messaging is being put out by the White House and administration officials and the way in which the media is handling.

Yeah I especially loved seeing Ray LaHood speak because he's here you have someone who comes from the -- -- as Barack Obama.

From -- this -- Illinois politics but from the other side from the Republican side of it.

And he's talking about how we're gonna have three and four hour wait times at airports and we're gonna have to close down some of these smaller airports because of all the these budget cuts.

His department's budget.

Goes up this year from the last year his department will spend more money -- 2013.

That it didn't 2012 even with the sequester.

And you know this is a classic case.

Of -- administration in playing the Washington monument strategy which is where.

You shut down whatever it's gonna cause the most pain so that you can teach people lesson about not could never cut spending again and that's what's going on here at the media buys into it.

Then you know role what what world you know if -- -- if the media get in brutal we all lose.

-- like for example I -- he could not withstand a follow up question yesterday.

David Gregory and Candy Crowley both asked them.

This only 3% your budget what do you mean yeah of ways camp why -- we got -- furlough people just get the subject he had no reply because he did I don't messenger mission.

And it isn't even it isn't even a real cut -- of people don't understand is when they say -- your budgets being cut by 3% that actually means your budget is being cut.

From the projection is somebody in need of what your budget was going to be.

Previously.

The actual cut is an increase in spending so you know people people we just do -- to understand what's going on here.

These guys are David -- -- shed crocodile tears about how horrible the world is gonna be if if these cuts go into effect and later this year they're all gonna end up that warm weather locations going to someone necessary conference they're gonna send a thousand people to it that's the way government works I'm afraid that's just that you know.

And and keep the reporters and everybody else needs to be aware this because later this year when they when they do that people need to look back on this moment when they're complaining about how austere and how difficult now -- have to lay everybody off and make everybody wait in line people who do that sort of thing should be punished by public opinion that's what the media is here for.

So real quickly you you believe that real investigative journalism would be to show that it's not really a cut at all.

Well I mean it would be it -- -- -- ignites explanatory piece of journalism to to show that.

Mean looking at some of these departmental budgets.

It's not yet again many of them are not actually being cut year over year and that's how and it's right defense this week we need defense on defense for the first year if you if you count war spending I believe it is being cut but if you don't count we're spending it actually isn't being -- -- your interest.

Hey -- have not been in the senate aircraft carrier the Persian gulf doesn't really make sense.

Well right and you know that there's another case of you know did it and trying to do you know Obama talking about organ -- criminals go Kirk.

We're -- it you know they the asteroids are gonna start falling every week instead of every couple years.

It's is eighty and just in -- -- to induce panic.

-- necessarily you know offering people are the -- here in DC.

-- how -- home prices are up 11%.

Year over year that's just one year 11% growth in home prices in the Washington DC area.

All right that David Cardoso editorial page editor Washington examiner office in masters thanks much.
